STRATA CREDIT UNION INTRODUCES NEW MASCOT, TEAMS UP WITHCOMMUNITYORGANIZATIONS TO KICK-OFF COUNTY-WIDE COLORING CONTEST FEATURING FAVORITE LOCAL MASCOTS BAKERSFIELD, California, April 30, 2020–A brand-new mascot joins the local mascot line-up in Kern County. Strata Credit Union introduces “The Strata Raptor,” and joins many of Kern’s favorite mascots in a month-long county-wide coloring contest that begins on May 1 st, 2020. The Strata Raptor has rounded up a few of his friends to kick off thecoloring contest including KC the Bull, Chester the Dog, The BC Renegade, Colonel Claw’d, Siren the Rescue Dog, Rowdy the Roadrunner and C.T. the Clock Tower, in an effort to provide a fun activity for children in Kern County that are currently out of school due to COVID-19. The age categories for the contest are: 3-5, 6-9, 10-13 and 1417-year-olds. 1st place winner in each age group will win admission for four to Disneyland or $500 cash and other prizes! 2nd and 3rd place winners in each age group win cash, gift cards and other prizes from Hall Ambulance, The Kern County Fair, The Kern County Museum, Bakersfield College, The Bakersfield Condors, the Downtown Business Association, CSUB and Strata Credit Union. The coloring contest entry form can be downloaded at www.stratacu.org/coloringcontest. Entry forms may also be picked up at any Strata Credit Union branch beginning May 1, 2020. Completed entries must be mailed to StrataCUand postmarked no later than June 1 st. Winners will be announced by June 15, 2020 on the Strata CU social media pages.Entries may also be dropped off at StrataCU branches. The coloring contest entry form was illustrated by local artist, Ernie Marin to ensure that all of Kern’s favorite mascots were captured just right. Ernie was self-taught and has been drawing since childhood. He specializes in sports art, digital art, acrylic painting and caricature art. About the StrataCUMascot: The Strata Raptor stands 6’5” tall and weighs a svelte 212 pounds. He has extremely sharp teeth and claws and loves his local sports.He wears his favorite red jersey featuring the year his credit union was established in 1949. He enjoys long walks near Sharktooth Hill and the Panorama Bluffs seeking fossils and remnants of his ancestors in the earth’s Strata.
