On Sunday, May 14th at 7.30pm we head back to the early 1980s with a screening of Empire of Light (15), a powerful and poignant story about human connection and the magic of cinema, from Academy Awardwinning director Sam Mendes.

Set in an English seaside town, Hilary (Olivia Colman) is a cinema manager struggling with her mental health, and Stephen (Micheal Ward) is a new employee longing to escape the provincial town where he faces daily adversity. Together they find a sense of belonging and experience the healing power of music, cinema, and community.

Based on the comical and moving New York Times bestseller, A Man Called Otto (15) will be screened on Wednesday, May 17th at 7.30pm. The film tells the story of Otto Anderson (Tom Hanks), a grumpy widower whose only joy comes from criticising and judging his exasperated neighbours. When a lively young family moves in next door, he meets his match in quick-witted and very pregnant Marisol, leading to an unexpected friendship that will turn his world upside down.

Fairfield Flicks is located at Fairfield Village Hall and there is free parking and a licenced bar. For information and advanced tickets for all events, visit www.fairfieldflicks.org.uk
