To honour this occasion, Sarah’s family organised a secret testimonial day, which began with members of Bromsgrove Walking Hockey Club playing a mini tournament to which her children and grandchildren had been invited to play with her.

This was followed by another tournament, this time with hockey players who had played with Sarah in the past as well as those who currently play alongside her.

Over the past 50 years, Sarah has held just about every committee position, been captain of several teams and was instrumental in three major initiatives: Creating Bromsgrove Junior Hockey Academy which has grown junior membership from 30 to more than 200, Back to Hockey which was adopted by England Hockey, and Walking Hockey, which is now played in countries across the world. Sarah is an inspiration to all who meet her. Sarah said: “I’m so proud of my family for arranging this day for me and for the support and friendship of everyone at the club.”
