I needed a companion, so local historian and enthusiast Sandy Pincher volunteered to accompany me. His usual mode of transport was Wagner, a famous Polish coach company, so I made sure that the eight-speaker stereo was blasting out the Ride of The Valkyries. He wasn’t amused.

To silence his complaint, I listed some of the safety features. I told him that no number of galloping Valkyries would induce this car to wobble - not with its stability control. Airbags everywhere would puff up like magic in the event of peril, while ultra-competent suspension would trounce terrible terrain.

Nearing our destination, I looked out across the flatlands and there, proud on the horizon, the windmill seemed to be waving a greeting. For technically minded readers, windmill sails are driven by pure wind - one of the ‘renewables’ that just keeps on going. Skoda aren’t quite there yet but they’re getting closer by the minute.
