Which local hero should be honoured with a gargoyle? W

ith work on restoring St Michael and All Angels Church to its former glory nearing a start date, the Friends of Stoke Prior need residents’ help with a very important job.

There were 14 gargoyles on the corbel table of the tower but sadly age and weather have done their worst and the existing heads either no longer exist or are so badly damaged they need to be replaced. But who should be up there? Do you know a local hero or someone from history who should be represented in stone? All suggestions, with a brief overview of why this person should be preserved in stone, would be very much appreciated. Send your nominations to Cathy Stokes at castokes15@hotmail.com or call 01527 577069. The closing date for nominations is Nov. 30th 2020.
