This year has been a difficult year for everyone, but at Chaddesley Corbett Primary School we have ensured that our ‘can do’ attitude has remained at the foremost and that children really are at the heart of everything we do.

All through lock down we were open to children of key workers and as soon as schools opened to other year groups, we wanted to allow as many children as possible to benefit from our beautiful outdoor environment but in as safe a way as possible. As reception, Year 1 and Year 6 returned to school, we invited our other year groups in, once a week, for a socially distanced forest school session which parents reported was a lifesaver for their children, as weeks of home schooling had taken their toll on parents and children alike. Children were able to see their friends again and play purposefully, leaving their anxieties behind and enjoying positive experiences. Our school has extensive outdoor facilities, with a sensory garden, two forest school areas, trim trails and outdoor cookery areas, gardening areas as well as an amphitheatre and an enormous field. We can really spread out! This year we have really focused on ensuring our curriculum is both rigorous and makes excellent use of our outdoor spaces. With the help of a local expert we have designed outdoor learning workbooks with key skills we want our children to achieve by the time they leave us. These skills are broad and balanced and develop useful lifelong resources that children will draw on throughout their future. Additionally we are using our expertise in children’s wellbeing to achieve the NCB Wellbeing award and have been involved with Professor Barry Carpenter OBE in the development of his wordless books to help children nationwide recover from the effects of lockdown and the ongoing fears that COVID 19 creates. We have been an integral part of developing the Recovery Curriculum. Chaddesley Corbett Primary School has been on a journey of sustained improvement for the last five years and really is a superb choice for families, we are what we have always believed to be most important- proper primary educators. We are fully inclusive and as well as academic rigour, we focus on the individual and families. Service is one of our core values and we always give our utmost to serve our families well.
