Organizational Profile and Trends The Hong Kong Stand Up Paddle Board Association (HKSUPBA) is the Hong Kong regional representative body of the International Surfing Association (ISA) and the only organization in Hong Kong that is serious about promoting the development of stand up paddling (SUP). We are proud to announce that we have achieved all the goals that have been set up in the previous year. The completed projects including the promotion of stand up paddling through the enhancement of athletes training, cooperation with various surf and SUP organizations in mainland China, Tai Wan and Hong Kong. We also organised SUP league races in Hong Kong and hosted the Hong Kong International SUP Championship for internationally renowned athletes to come to Hong Kong and compete with lead local athletes. In the past year, The Hong Kong Stand Up Paddle Board Association (HKSUPBA) has strived to become a member of the Sport Federation & Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China (SF&OC) and hopes to receive support and funding from the Hong Kong Government for SUP athletes. However, the SUP movement has been able to grow healthily and move forward in the past year before we received any good news from the Hong Kong Government. We want to express our deep gratitude to the following units who have been supporting and contributing for the past few years. Among the sponsors, we are especially grateful to MVISION, Sharelife Sports Equipments, WHATZSUP Standup Paddleboard Pro Shop, and Regal Earn. In terms of human resources support, thanks to a group of committee members who have been dedicated to promoting and assisting in organizing and preparing SUP events. Everyone’s effort

has enabled the general public to learn more about SUP and to participate more in the SUP events. We are very proud of the outstanding results and achievements of “the Hong Kong International SUP Championships” has reached. There were many current world champions joined in our Championship races, including Mr. Kai Lenny, the Super Waterman; Mr. Michael Booth, the current World Paddle League’s No. 1 Australian player; Mr. Casper Steinfath , the Champion of ISA SUP Sprints 2017; Mr. Mo Freitas, the Champion of ISA Technical Race 2017; Mr. Bernd Roedi 2017 Columbia Gorge Paddle Challenge Elite Downwind Champion, Japan’s No. 1 player Kenny Kaneko for five consecutive years, and more professional players on the leaderboard I have not participated in the competition in this event. It is the fourth in this year’s competition in 2018. It is also a good one to be one of the Paddle League’s global elite scoring points, one of the two-star events in the rankings. We will continue to work hard and hope that one day will become one of the major sports events in Hong Kong.
