OBJECTIVE Miami Shores Village, FL, is seeking a well-qualified firm or individual (Applicant) to serve as its Village Attorney. It is the Village's intention to advertise this position, to seek out Applicants, to conduct an evaluation of those Applicants (including an assessment of credentials, experience, references, history with local governments etc.), and to shortlist those considered to be the best fit with the Village's’ requirements, elected officials and staff for final consideration. BACKGROUND Miami Shores Village – The Village Beautiful: was developed in the 1920s and incorporated in 1932. Miami Shores Village is located just north of Downtown Miami and east of I-95.Census data records a population of 11,500 within a land area of approximately 2.5 sq. miles. Miami Shores Village enjoys the reputation of being an in-town village, boasting a small-town atmosphere, with accessibility to, but strategically removed from, the hustle and bustle of South Florida life style. With its art deco architecture, Bayfront vistas, historic homes and churches covered by lush canopy, the Village is known for, and favors its enviable charm. The Village is governed by a council-manager form of government and has an annual budget of approximately $27.5M and approximately 110 full time employees. The governing body meets at least biweekly. The Village operates a police department, parks and recreation facilities, public works, the Brockway Memorial Library, Building Department, Neighborhood Services, and maintains miles of public rights of way, roads, and sidewalks. SCOPE OF SERVICES The Village is seeking a firm/individual with the highest degree of professionalism, ethics, and proven history to serve as its trusted advisor to the Village’s elected officials, advisory boards, and staff. The chosen firm/individual will have outstanding communications skills and work closely with the Council and staff, keeping all fully informed while responding to their needs. The ideal firm/individual will be one with the demonstrated ability to solve problems and minimize the Village's legal exposure and minimize liability.
