Israel - Palestine War: Death Toll exceeds 20K But With No Possibilities of a Ceasefire
BY: KHUBAIB ANDAINThe most recent attacks targeted the northern and middle parts of Gaza, including the 'carpet bombing' of the Tal al-Za'atar neighborhood in Jabalia City. Shockingly, the assault resulted in the capture of over 100 men, including medical personnel, and the bulldozing of innocent civilians, leaving a trail of destruction in its wake Despite pleas for assistance, Palestinian medical teams have been denied access to the area by the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF), exacerbating the humanitarian crisis.
These atrocities are not isolated incidents; they are part of a pattern of alleged unlawful killings by the IDF, as confirmed by The Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) Previous reports have detailed mass detentions, illtreatment, and enforced disappearances of Palestinian men, women, and children, further highlighting the gravity of the situation

Animal advocacy organizations had demanded on several occasions that Mali be sent to an elephant refuge. However, local officials warned that the action might backfire. The group urged Isko Moreno, the mayor at that time, to permit Mali to reside in a Thai sanctuary with other elephants in 2021. To keep Mali company, Moreno promised to bring in more elephants.

Nurturing Literacy: The Impact and Challenges of Catch-Up Fridays in Philippine Education
BY: STEFANIE FRANCISCOEducation is often hailed as the key to a brighter future, yet in the Philippines, educational settings have been grappling with declining literacy rates among students. This decline is attributed to a myriad of challenges within the academic sphere, ranging from ineffective teaching methods and overcrowded classrooms to limited access to reading materials and familial issues Among these challenges, the plummeting rates of reading and comprehension stand out as a significant obstacle for the educational system to overcome. In response to these pressing issues, the Department of Education (DepEd) introduced an innovative solution: Catch-Up Fridays This initiative aims to reignite students' passion for learning and address the factors that hinder their academic progress By dedicating an entire day to reading in class, Catch-Up Fridays seek to bridge the literacy gaps among learners, enhance reading comprehension skills, foster critical thinking, and expand vocabulary
The implementation of Catch-Up Fridays, however, comes with its own set of advantages and challenges On one hand, it provides students with an opportunity to immerse themselves in literary worlds and engage in meaningful learning experiences It also offers educators a chance to explore diverse teaching strategies and create a conducive environment for learning However, it also presents challenges such as increased workload for teachers and a decline in student attendance on Fridays.
Data suggests that approximately 70% of teachers are already overworked, spending a minimum of 400 hours outside of their paid working hours Implementing Catch-Up Fridays could further strain their workload and time. Moreover, the decline in student attendance raises concerns about the effectiveness of this approach for all learners It becomes evident that while Catch-Up Fridays may benefit some students and educators, it may not be universally suitable for everyone.

reading, they should not overshadow other effective teaching methods Alternative approaches, such as the Montessori method or personalized learning, should also be explored to accommodate students' individual needs and foster a holistic approach to education.

Recognizing the diverse learning needs and preferences of students, it is crucial to approach educational reforms with careful planning and consideration. While Catch-Up Fridays aim to strengthen students' academic foundations and instill a love for
In conclusion, Catch-Up Fridays represent a step towards addressing the challenges within the Philippine education system and rekindling the love for learning among students However, their implementation requires a balance between promoting literacy and accommodating the diverse needs of students and educators By embracing innovative solutions while respecting individual learning styles, Philippine education can truly thrive and prepare students for success in the ever-changing world.

After an unprecedented attack from Hamas on parts of southern Israel, the IDF has done everything it can to banish them. Launched bombing campaigns across the entire Gaza Strip since October 7 Repeatedly dropping 2,000pound bombs in densely populated areas Then the Israeli government announcing a total blockade of Gaza, not allowing food and medical supplies to enter, starving thousands and leading some to death While according to the OHCHR, IDF reportedly raiding residential buildings in Gaza, and shooting unarmed Palestinians to death
In essence, the majority of what Israel has done to protect itself does, according to international law, amount to war crime Which raises the question "Where is the accountability?"
Lack of accountability and favouritism is expressed in the situation where Northern powers are either against or abstain from passing a ceasefire For instance, the UN's vote to "Protecting civilians and upholding legal and humanitarian obligations" for Palestine wasn't passed due to the opposition of the US.
Ultimately, the same countries that established so-called 'international organisations' are ruled by western politics who tip the balance significantly one side Which shouldn't be the case since its soul purpose of establishment becomes counterintuitive
On February 8, US President Joe Biden conducted a primetime speech in which the first criticism was yet to be heard from him regarding Israel's attacks on Gaza being " over the top"
Through a one-on-one interview by ABC News, Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu responded to the sharp criticism by saying, "I don't know what exactly he meant by that "
In the end it is just two group of people claiming a home. The other being forced, as if by something, into an already occupied land and in the end claiming its theirs. And the other being fuelled to rebel due to being taken of their land.

Beyond the Broadcast: The Legacy of Miguel "Mike" Castro Enriquez
BY: KATHRYN VASQUEZJustice is a crucial thing that we need in our life, without its presence, the world will be nothing but a cruel dark place where people wonder soullessly with long, disappointed faces. Furthermore, the concept of justice is pursued by many genuine people, for they want to sprinkle some fairness in the land we thrive at, and one of those personas includes the legendary journalist, Miguel "Mike" Castro Enriquez
According to the Statistica Research Department, the Philippines has a moderately high rate of crime, violence, and terrorism In 2021, the country was on the bottom five of the order and security index ranking across the region. Equally, the Philippines was among those with the highest incarceration rate in every hundred thousand inhabitants Crime rates were particularly high in poorer neighborhoods and areas with larger populations and higher unemployment This fact, though implied, is the main reason why Mike, a well known TV Broadcast announcer carved and pursued his name in the GMA Network Industry, where he became the Anchor of various TV Shows where suppressing crime is involved, namely: Saksi (1995–98, 1999–2004), GMA Network News (1998–99), IWitness (1999–2000), Imbestigador (2000–22), 24-Oras (2004–22), Review Philippines (2005–08), Philippine Agenda (2007), and Dobol B sa News TV / Dobol B TV (2011–12, 2017–22)
to describe his curiosity-filled, active childhood. He initially wanted to become a priest, which was rejected by his parents He finished his elementary and high school education at La Salle Green Hills Instead, he was enrolled at De La Salle College (now De La Salle University), taking up AB Liberal Arts and BS Commerce He finished his degree in 1973 and taught broadcast management classes at the university Furthermore, he started his early career as broadcasting TV announcer at the Manila Broadcasting Company in 1969
If you are wondering about the way he achieved his job that contributed to his success, here's an unpopular fact that you might not know: according to some sources, Enriquez was visiting a friend in a radio station when, as a joke, his friend introduced him to the station manager as a prospective applicant The manager invited him to do a test reading, and was offered a job on the spot. Fascinating, right? By this, we can say that Mike is indeed born to be a broadcaster a person who delivers information on the spot using his clear, raw voice.
Mike then lived a life of success with the company of his wife, Lizabeth "Baby" Yumping

Miguel Castro Enriquez, the first of three siblings, was born on September 29, 1951, in Santa Ana, Manila He used the term "destructive to a certain extent"
Furthermore, as a great news anchor he is,he was named as one of the most child-friendly personalities by the Southeast Asian Foundation for Children and thrice, consecutively by the Anak TV Seal awards. Mike carved all the way until he succeeded, however, everything comes to an end, for our life is only a borrowed one from the Creator. When the sun
started to perform a dwindling gleam on 3:04 pm, August 29, 2023, Mike Enriquez died at the age of 71 His passing was said to be in St Luke's Medical Center Quezon City "Huwag kang iiyak (Do not weep)", was his last words according to his wife, Baby Yumping, this statement caused his spouse to stay strong for him
Mike went through various health concerns that challenged his such as diabetes, kidney disease, and heart sickness, causing him to file various leaves in his jobs By that, one can say that he was indeed a great warrior, for he fought until his body could no longer can he died with dignity and justice, carrying a certain honesty in his heart until he reached the other side. Despite these statements that could be comforting, it is no doubt that the people would still miss that voice waking them up at the entrance of dusk via TV or radio reporting and wishing them a good morning. Rest in peace, Mike.

This regular and day-to-day walk to school begins early at around 4:00 in the morning where I wake up to prepare myself for another day. I wake up to the alarm I set last night or to my mom waking me up Preparing for the long trip from Bacoor, Cavite to MHS, Metro Manila is quite difficult, but with determination and yet very sleepy eyes I can accomplish the first steps to the journey that is ahead.
Next comes the climax of this story, although it is a bit too early for a climax, but this is true if you have to catch up to a bus with a 50/50 chance of actually getting on one It is a battle between time and probability where probability could easily defeat time and cause my absence or tardiness to school. Once on a bus, it could either mean I am sitting comfortably on a nylon-lined seat or standing while getting squeezed between the people behind me and the seat that I'm leaning on for support But once the destination is reached, the story does not end yet. I am fortunate if the bus was fast enough to reach the assembly at the Amadome or otherwise, be marked late and face consequences
The real story begins when I am already at school, class proper begins roughly at 6:00 AM or later if the teacher is absent While my classmates and I enter our classroom, the room starts to get filled with a wide array of noise, ranging from arguing students about answers from yesterday's homework to sounds coming from their phones Likewise, as we move from one classroom to another, the halls and

staircases turn from then peaceful places into their street-like form due to the assortment of all the casual conversations and noise that happen. While it is inevitable that such a phenomenon happens in schools, all of these are memories that I may look back at in the future.
While that part of the story ends, a new one begins I spend the rest of my day at school in the library reading books that I have been wanting to read again. My reading session stops as I remember I need to return home, because I know my parents are worriedly waiting for me back at home I greet friends and teachers as I exit the school with hopes of coming back to this place. The day ends as I set foot outside of school to the warm sunshine hitting my face signifying a need to open my umbrella. The walk continues as I need to go to the nearest bus stop about a few kilometers away Witnessing the same scene again in memory stepping on crunchy fallen branches from trees, while their leaves fall gracefully While the wind that blows my umbrella causes some difficulties This walk all comes to an end as I return home through a bus, and take a quick nap while I wait to reach my destination.

One day, I may never have to take this this journey again, but it should fuel my inspiration to never stop walking ‘til I reach a better destination and secure myself a good future. Perhaps this is not just any ordinary walk, but a walk to remember forever

The Art The Art of Loving of Loving
BY:AhmadCasalin
What is love? Love is the symphony of our deepest emotions, weaving together affection, care, and intimacy towards another soul Though its essence is elusive, we humans find myriad ways to express it, through the language of our thoughts, the poetry of our words, and the dance of our bodies To ensure our love is felt deeply by those we cherish, let's explore and refine the art of expressing it
Tip 1: Understand the nature of love Love is not merely a feeling; it's also an action that involves caring, respect, and commitment
Tip 2: Practice self-love Before loving others, it's essential to love yourself This means accepting who you are, treating

kindly, and prioritizing your physical and emotional well-being.
Tip 3: Communication is key Learn to listen actively, express yourself clearly, and avoid misunderstandings by being direct and honest When problems arise, discuss them openly with your partner Reassurance is vital for maintaining a healthy relationship
Tip 4: Show kindness and compassion Small acts of kindness demonstrate that you care. Be compassionate when your partner faces challenges and offer your support whenever they need it. Be their pillar of strength
Tip 5: Practice patience Love requires time and effort. Don’t expect
Amidst eager volunteers, armed with saplings yet to reach their full potential, the planting commenced As I arrived alongside my AP teacher, Mary Jane Carillas, and fellow schoolmates, anticipation hung in the air Capturing moments in photographs, we awaited the congregation near the garden, ready to embark on a journey of rejuvenation
However, amidst the enthusiasm, a common struggle emerged finding tools and excavating holes Yet, in this challenge, a bond was forged, bridging the gap between teachers and students With determination and teamwork, each sapling found its place in the earth, a symbol of resilience against environmental adversity
instant results or quick fixes Be patient with yourself and your partner as you work together to build a strong, loving relationship Establish boundaries that respect both your needs and theirs
Remember, you possess the unique ability to express love in your own way These guiding principles can enrich your character and deepen your connections Love manifests in different forms, so attune yourself to how your partner reciprocates your feelings Love them as fiercely as you love yourself

236,000 strong cohort for their dedication to the cause And as a token of appreciation, snacks and water were distributed, a small gesture symbolizing the nourishment bestowed upon both body and soul
This endeavor serves as a poignant reminder of our interconnectedness with nature and the imperative to safeguard our environment In the words of Edward Abbey, "Action is the antidote to despair " Each tree planted, each hand that toiled in the soil, represents a collective step towards a greener future a future we must nurture for generations to come

In the wake of environmental challenges, where the once abundant trees have dwindled due to human activities, there emerges a beacon of hope a nationwide initiative to plant seeds for posterity On December 6, 2023, schools across the country joined hands in a collective effort to sow the seeds of change Among them stood our own institution, a bastion of education and environmental consciousness
As the sun began its descent, bringing the day's endeavors to a close, participants gathered once more in the Amadome
Gratitude echoed through the hall as teachers commended the

My Beautiful Stranger
By: Ahmad CasalinMy heart has fallen for someone unexpected, For someone so pure whom I haven't met yet Who are you, my beautiful stranger, whom my heart yearns for?
A glimpse of your precious heart, which I have yet to explore
My heart has completely fallen for you; You're precious and too good to be true. So many traumas, so many fears, All that's left in my world, right here.
An unexplainable feeling, is this love?
A feeling of joy, which my soul ascends above
All of my thoughts will yet to be answered too,
Once I have the courage to finally talk to you
A Tale of Love and Loss
By: Khrizia Erika Mae BlancaverI've never noticed you, Nor acknowledged your presence Why would I?
You're just a fellow classmate of mine
But then destiny introduced you to me, Forgetting the fact that it once betrayed me Made me like someone again, Made me love someone again.
Forcing myself to think that I don't like you, And chaining this surging love, But lo and behold, I can't dodge Cupid's bow
But I'm too late, Far too behind, Never to catch up, And I'll never even try
Just as expected, Destiny left me again in shambles, A stupid lady in love, Crying under the heavens above

Embracing Life’s Flux
People come and go, Time is only borrowed, Nothing constant, nothing steady, Tuning in life's everchanging medley
In the ebb and flow, we still find our grace, Navigating change, embracing space, May lose countless treasures along the way, Yet thriving still, come what may
Through the Trials of Life: Hope
By: Khubaib AndainI remember the days when hope wasn't voiced, when there was a suppressing law ruthlessly enforced unto those people shivering in despair on a cold night, kept warm by hope's flare
When hope was like a candle on a stormy winter night, illuminating a path with its warm and tender light yet a storm too strong for a flame too small but never will it die, for it is sanctuary to all
And when hope was like the playground's swing that carried us and our daily's burdens as we sing there for us whenever our leaves of strength had withered and even when spring had its most unusual blizzard
Thus, you shall never ever lose hope for, by a voice, a candle, and a noble swing one can cope with every hardship comes ease and the Most Merciful indeed sees
My Love
By: Princess BudiaoRoses are red, violets are blue
Why did you waste my love for you?
I've given everything, my love
Why leave this broken soul, pieces torn
Roses are red, violets are blue
My love is only you, for you are you
You are my light, you gave color to my life
You are also the one that took it
Roses are red, violets are blue
My love is so heartless, breaking my soul
Leaving me with only memories to hold
Despite unreciprocated, I will follow you in the afterlife
Wounded Soldier
By: Stefanie FranciscoThe only thing keeping me sane is my own pain
I am a wounded soldier that can’t be tamed
New wounds would open if I dare speak your name
Prolonging my misery, this could be the death of me
My affairs with false hope continue I carry a burden of false comfort
The only thing it gives me is a scar
Yet I still yearn for it on a wishing star
In a world painted with blue
My heart longs for you
Tell me where do I run when you ’ re not around
When your presence is nowhere to be found I will search even the deepest ground
In this lifetime, my love might come back someday
This life is full of disarray
The comfort of an erroneous lie is the only way
This agony and despair leave me astray
My beautiful Angel, be still and stay
Time cannot heal non-existent wounds
This anguish only exists in my mind and I am doomed
I loiter until my whole being is consumed
I am drowning and it gets difficult to resume
For all I know, I am still a wounded soldier
I carry this battle as I get older
No knowledge could make me wiser
I am in misery; you are the death of me.
From Yours Truly, 10 Years Ago
I scrambled to my desk at the back of the classroom and hurriedly opened my bag, searching for a piece of paper and a pencil l as soon as I heard the instruction from my teacher
“Alright, everyone, remember, you must write to your future self 10 years from now You may put your goals, ambitions, and expectations As soon as you ' re done ” The teacher continued to instruct and guide us on our papers I stopped listening at that point; I was practically bursting with inspiration to write something down
After a few minutes of trying to think, I was stumped I didn t know what to write
I looked around the classroom, seeing my classmates jotting down their thoughts and feelings onto their paper One of my classmates was practically announcing what he wants to be in the future as he voiced his thoughts aloud while writing
I looked down at my own paper, seeing only my name and nothing else
“What should I do ?” I quietly mumbled to myself feeling panicked as the end of the class approached
“Need any help there?” A voice called out to me, snapping me out of my thoughts It was my teacher! She could definitely help me!
I nodded, with a frown as I put down my pencil “Teacher I can't think of anything to write! Please help me ” I pleaded to my adviser with puppy eyes
“Can't think of anything yet, huh? I guess I can let you take it home Just make sure it has something on it tomorrow, alright? You’re going to share in class what you wrote down tomorrow ” She said with a soft smile, petting my head gently

With genuine sympathy, A P
I placed my pen on the table as I folded the newly written letter Rolling it as if it were something formal, I stopped to think "Is this proper?" "Acceptable? Valid?"
I let out a sigh, clearing the overcast forming in my mind Perhaps, another part of me doesn't accept this kind of act Perhaps, it just wants to protect my inner peace, my dignity myself
Once I'm done rolling the paper I place it in my bag, feeling regret and remorse while slowly zipping my bag shut I know I'm too kind; that's why people always use me as a pawn for their hideous and selfish games
I am no chess piece, no king I am just a pawn, useful to everyone yet flawed One wrong move, and I may be the cause of the players' demise
Walking towards my favorite spot to reminisce the window I leave the bag where it is My throbbing heart calms when I see the view of the whole city: the shining river of Thames, the daring height of the Tower Bridge, and the majestic view of Big Ben They all feed my fancy of being joyful I sit on my office chair near the window, just to relax my body for a while
"Perhaps this is the right thing Perhaps this will be the solution to lessen the conflict Maybe my sacrifice will be worth it, or will it?"
I lean my head on the chair, sighing in melan-
By: Elliannah Joy GalvezI was greatly thankful for that as I thanked her a bunch of times with the biggest smile I could muster up The bell rang as we all packed up our things and went out to wait for our parents to pick us up
I'm definitely going to write something incredible for future me to read!
ber myself getting frustrated over this I chuckled to myself, reminiscing that day “I can t seem to remember what I wrote; it wouldn’t hurt to reread it, right?”
I properly opened it and read it aloud,
If I Could Only Regress
By: Althea C MaatI sit in a corner absentmindedly while the teacher in front is teaching All I think about now is myself I turn my head to see the faces of my colleagues A sudden insecurity consumes me, comparing myself to them and their achievements I envy them; if only I could regress I want to go back to my childhood I want to fix everything
I'm almost finished clearing out my room, getting ready to leave for college I look around the room which holds many memories of my childhood, and the feel and smell of home It s hard not to tear up just by looking at my now bare and empty room Seeing as what's left of it is my old bed, changed multiple times over the years my small drawer next to my bed filled with doodles from when I was four, and my broken glow-in-the-dark stars on my bedroom walls Most of my old toys are going to be sold, all of them are compacted into a corner Of course I took one or two stuffed toys from the box for memories
All that s left to clean out is my drawer I went closer to it and opened it starting with the top part I was met with a ton of pens, pencils, broken crayons here and there and a lot of paper Most of them were crumpled from previous attempts at drawing and writing words
“Huh? What's this?” I saw a folded piece of paper in my drawer; curiosity got the best of me as I opened it up It was a letter to me from Myself? What?
“This date this was 10 years ago!?” I said shocked with a hint of amusement at how it survived this long Well, survived enough that I could even read it The paper had a lot of tears and crayola markings
“Ah, I remember now! This was the letter in 3rd grade to our future selves I can vaguely remem•
The Pawn
By: Kathryn Vasquezcholy All my life, I've been a good Samaritan It's a proper thing, yes, but what causes unseen suffering is when your own kind takes advantage of your kindness Of course, you will be in disdain and you have every right to be daft, yet, I choose not to My very heart is not made for holding grudges; it is designed to be open to everyone and everything, good or not
I am Allina Crester Phanmodosky, one of those weak pawns easily maneuvered by the powerful For I believe that's how true "kindness" works
I am a person who continuously offers herself to hell just to bring heaven to others Perhaps because this is what justice means to me?
Justice doesn't foster when both parties are of high status; it is yet present when someone is willing to lower herself to give way to it Furthermore, I sometimes ask myself: do people really have the right to judge others?
All of us have this individuality that allows us to function according to our own will, although, when other people of other personalities become involved criticism, conviction, judgment, a verdict, must be made
In other words, the unfairness of this world is incurable, am I right?
But, do we really have the right to defy others? To make them under our command? That's rather cruel
Or is it perhaps because of something that's keeping us trapped that we choose to ride their plane rather than to fly with our own wings? Is it emotions? Sympathy? Kindness? Debts? If that's the case, then I do believe
“Dear me, 10 years from now I want to say that no matter what you are, whatever situation you re in right now, I'm proud of you I don't wanna expect anything from us; I know you'll do great out there! You have the freedom to do, think, and choose what you want There may be times that you ve found yourself lost, stumped, and confused, but I know you ll survive at the end of the day! Never give up; that will make me proud no matter what; please remember that ”
My eyes started to sting as I kept reading the letter until the end
“Time sure does fly so fast I'm already in college I can't believe it ” I smiled softly as tears started flowing down my face I quickly wiped them with the sleeve of my sweatshirt “Don't worry Amy, I'll follow your words ” I quietly muttered, refolding the letter and putting it in my pocket I continued packing for college and left the house with a warm feeling
“This is Amy, 10 years from now, and I ll keep making you proud ”

that empathetic people are the weakest of them all, just like me
"Do you, Dottore, even think about that?"
Those words just came out of my mouth when he suddenly made his entrance through my thoughts This is his invisible perpetual torment, his manipulation, his virus that makes me ill how I hate him and adore him at the same time, this is all his doing
"You have no choice Obey me and I will give you life Will you just disregard that offer, Allina? I'm giving you a chance to live again, and you may grab it or perish "
I lower my head and take a deep breath, then nod to myself “I guess I have no choice, do I? You really have me under your strings, don't you?"
A sudden urge to laugh invades my body How amusing, feeling everything and nothing at the same time, truly is fascinating Perhaps because I've been controlled by him so much that it drives me insane, my sense of individuality is gone, my whole identity is lost, just because I allowed someone, who was supposedly aligned with me, to take control of my soul
After a moment of silence, I snap back to reality when the clock tower suddenly performs continuous ringing sounds However, even though it's practically banging near my ear because of how close my house is to it, I still don't hear anything
I turn to my right, stare at the bag, and take a deep breath Then I lift my body up to walk and pick it up to finish this once and for all
“As long as my king desires.”
As time passes, I fail to realize it's already break time I watch my classmates gather together in their circle; I used to have that before I reminisce about the days when I had many friends, but the trauma remains static I hope this suffering comes to an end
Upon arriving home, I go through my everyday routine, and here I am again Thinking about what will happen to me in the future I'm a teenager who is very worried about herself I want to distract myself, so I open my gadget to read a novel I want to fantasize about the characters' problems and how they found a way to solve them This is the only way to escape reality While I'm reading, my eyes slowly close
I find myself waking up from a dream I sit on my bed thinking about my decisions in life, and once again, I want to regress I stand up to drink water I am walking when a serene view outside the window catches my eye All I want is this I find my companions bonding with each other, cooking barbecue, playing cards, and roulette However, I'm looking for someone Someone who guides me through every difficult scenario I try to look for him, but I fail I smile bitterly as I reminisce about those memories when he was here
All I want is to have a peaceful and calm mind I start to think about what I'd said earlier: "I want to regress, " but what if I really regress again? Would my life still be the same as now? Am I going to meet him again? Questions fill my head; I feel like it's going to explode
I feel very tired just thinking that I want to start all over again and meet him I go back to my room I sit on my bed, and suddenly, an ajar cabinet catches my attention I find a letter from my companion that I treasure the most I immediately open it and there's an essay of written words on the letter
The stories that were written flow through my head Then on the paper is a picture of us, my companions and I, smiling widely with him "This is for you, Zack " These are the last words from the letter I was once a depressed being, but when he came, I found the right path that I should take But he's not here anymore I want to meet him again
My decision that became a mistake before and that I'd been wishing to remake was a lesson for me to move forward and to learn from what I've experienced If I'm going to fix everything, I want to fix what's in my hands, not the past nor the future I'm going to meet Atlas again I will
I smile bitterly The thousands of chapters I read before have come to an end It was sad, but it's worth it to read I will never forget this masterpiece The hairs on my skin are standing; it gave me chills Starting today, I will move forward for Zack, my favorite character and companion
A loud voice calls me; it's my mother "Atlas! Dinner is ready "
World's Most Advanced Robotic Surgical System
Now in PH
BY: KHUBAIB ANDAINThe Philippines achieved a remarkable milestone in the field of medicine with the introduction of the da Vinci Xi, the world's most advanced robotic surgical system.
Earlier this year, St Luke's Medical Centre upgraded to the latest version of da Vinci robotic surgery, and they are the first in the country to do so. In contrast to the da Vinci Si, which was older, the da Vinci Xi possesses enhanced features and benefits. The new version features higher-quality three-dimensional camera vision that allows for greater precision in conducting procedures Adding to that are the improved design and overall structure of the system. The new design increases its versatility for catering to different patient needs
Why Put Sunscreen?
BY: KHUBAIB ANDAINAs the summer months approach, many of us begin planning our vacations, whether it's lounging on the beach or enjoying a leisurely stroll outdoors. However, amidst the excitement, it's easy to overlook the importance of sun protection
Excessive sun exposure during summer can lead to various issues such as sunburns, tanning, irritations, and, in the long term, skin cancer While Filipinos generally have some built-in protection due to melanin in their skin, the incidence of skin cancer remains a concern. According to the Philippine Dermatological Society, between 2011 and 2021, there were 2102 recorded cases of basal cell carcinomas and 614 cases of squamous cell carcinomas, highlighting the seriousness of sunrelated skin issues
Understanding the causes of sunburns and skin cancer is crucial

other than urology and laparoscopy patients It also improved the system's approach to operation Which was a minimally invasive approach that reduced incision sizes, blood loss, and post-surgical trauma to the nearby tissues, which are all signs of an effective and efficient operation.
Much like the older versions, the Da Vinci Xi still has robotic arms
Beyond the visible light spectrum are ultraviolet rays (UV rays) emitted by the sun, categorized into UVC, UVB, and UVA rays. UVB rays primarily damage the skin's top layers, leading to sunburns and skin cancer, while UVA rays penetrate deeper, causing damage to collagen fibers and premature aging
Protecting ourselves from the sun ' s harmful effects is paramount, and one effective measure is using sunscreen or sunblock. Sunblock, as the name suggests, physically blocks UV rays from reaching the skin, providing robust protection. However, sunblocks are often criticized for leaving a noticeable white cast on the skin due to compounds like Zinc Oxide or Titanium Dioxide.
Sunscreens offer an alternative with less visible residue while still providing considerable protection. Despite some labeled as " no white cast," individuals with darker skin tones may still experience a noticeable residue This difference is
that are manipulated by the surgeon. A console for viewing and controlling the fine tips of the robotic arms that can cut, hold, and stitch during operations. The introduction of the da Vinci XI in our country is a reaffirmation of our country's commitment to medicine and sets the pace for technological advancement.
attributed to the types of UV blockers used physical blockers like Titanium Dioxide reflect UV rays, while chemical blockers absorb them

It's important to note that chemical sunscreens may degrade over time through UV absorption, necessitating reapplication every 2 to 4 hours of sun exposure However, individuals with sensitive skin should be cautious as they may develop allergic reactions to chemical sunscreens. When selecting sunscreen, opt for broadspectrum protection, SPF 30 or higher, water resistance, and lightweight formulations Avoid sunscreen sprays, as inhaling the particles can pose health risks. In addition to sunscreen, other protective measures such as wearing long clothing or using umbrellas can further reduce sun exposure. So, next time you step outside, don't forget your sunscreen after all, a little protection goes a long way in safeguarding your skin health
