Thursday, 28th December Next morning, meandering along the track adjacent to the Crooked River, we crossed Kingwell Bridge, before heading up Billy Goat Bluff Track, which we found in relatively good condition. Arriving at The Pinnacles we visited the fire lookout for spectacular 360° views of the surrounding mountains, deep blue and misty, looking almost like waves. Jessica said a quick hello to the fire spotter on duty. Leaving via the Cynthia Range track we had a moderately challenging climb followed by a challenging descent down Station Track to the Pioneer Racecourse Track and then home. A full and satisfying day's driving. At 9pm, Dave met a visitor from the Queensland Subie club, Stephen Bartholomew, who arrived to join our band. The rainy evening put a bit of a dampener on our fire sitting, but helped to settle the dust for the next day's trip. 13
