Sister Amy Bayley ‘68 entered the Sisters of Mercy in 1968. After obtaining her teaching and administrative credentials, she worked in administration and counseling, and also taught English and religion. In 1980, she became vice principal at Mercy High School Burlingame and principal from 1982 to 1993, where she oversaw the development and restoration of the Kohl Mansion after the 1989 earthquake which devastated a large part of the building. In 1995, Sister Amy began her tenure as Vice President for Community Planning at Mercy Housing, working with local communities to develop affordable housing. In that role she has worked with elected officials, staff, and local neighborhoods to create high quality housing especially for seniors, families, and persons with special needs.
