8 The new SiOnyx Nightwave camera can operate in ultra low light levels
New ultra low light camera The new SiOnyx Nightwave Ultra Low Light Marine Camera will be available from Spring 2022. The camera is built around the SiOnyx patented Black Silicon CMS sensor to allow for easy spotting of obstacles and debris in the water at low-light levels, operating without the need for white light or thermal cameras. It is designed to give mariners the ability to navigate safely at night. The camera incorporates a variety of mounting options – it can be permanently mounted to a flat surface, ball up or down, using the included mounting template and hardware. It can also be temporarily mounted with a 1/4in-20 mount interface for use with standard mounts. It can be set up to wirelessly stream video to a mobile device via the SIONYX app. Nightwave will also connect to a boat’s electronic hardware via a 12V DC output. The camera features a 40-degree horizontal field of view and images in <1 Millilux, allowing users to view a man-sized object at 150m in extreme low-light conditions. The camera is IP-67 rated.

Poynting’s new Narwhal antennas are av available from CA Clase. The antennas are Poynting’s longe longest omnidirectional ante antenna, to date and are en enclosed in a design inspired by the tusk of a narwhal. The Narwhal series has an IP68 water ingress rating with the antennas designed for marine and coastal applications and offers a variety of configurations with 5G/LTE or Wi-Fi omni-directional antennas and can range from SISO to 4x4 MIMO. The cellular antennas feature ultra-wideband coverage and operate
from 617 MHz to 4200 MHz, covering 5G/LTE bands for cellular communication. The bands covered include the up-and-coming LTE Band 71, 617 to 698 MHz, as well as the CBRS band from 3400 to 4200 MHz. There will also be derivatives that offer dual-band Wi-Fi coverage in the 2.4 GHz and 5 to 6 GHz bands for complete vessel coverage. All antennas will come as standard with a 2m, HDF195 cable with an N-Type (female) connector. The Narwhal series comes standard with a 316-grade stainless steel base and an optional
316-grade stainless steel L-bracket is also available for pole and wall mount applications. The antennas comply with CE, EN, CSA, RoHS and IEC Standards. They are rated for temperatures of -40°C to +80°C and will survive winds of up to 100mph. The antennas are tested for harsh environments with IK08 impact resistance. The OMNI-902 and OMNI-904 have an overall size of 1654mm x 145mm while the OMNI-914 measures 2454mm x 145mm. 8 Poynting’s new antennas feature ultra-wideband coverage
NEW NSX DISPLAY FROM SIMRAD Simrad Yachting’s newest multifunction display (MFD) is the Simrad NSX. The MFD is available in 7in, 9in and 12in display sizes and is based on a new operating system. Charts include C-MAP navigation and compatibility with sonar, radar and autopilot systems. Setup wizards guide users through each step during device setup, and Simrad app integration makes connectivity from a smartphone easier. “The electronics for boating navigation have evolved so much over the decades, but with this particular product we’ve really focused on making boating adventures and navigation both easier and more accessible than ever,” said Mike Fargo, EVP of Simrad Yachting. “I love that about this product. With the NSX, our development team re-imagined and redefined what a chartplotter and fishfinder can be for consumers, simplifying the experience from the
moment you take NSX out of the box all the way to the furthest open water adventures.” Users are able to expand the MFD with additional functionality, easier integrations and support for a wide range of third-party applications.
Boaters who love fishing can utilise the NSX to view high-resolution images below and to the sides with Active Imaging and CHIRP sonar, SideScan/DownScan Imaging and FishReveal – or search greater depths with a wide range of compatible transducers.
