Letter from the AAPI President and the Convention Dear Sponsor :
Greetings from the Peach State It is with great pleasure that we announce that the 34th Annual American Association of Physicians of Indian origin (AAPIJ Annual Convention and Scientific Sessions will be held in New York City from July 1 to 4, 2016. The venue is the fabulous Mario tt Marquis, Times Square. This world-class facility will afford an intimate setting that will facilitate our ability to convey cutting-edge research and CME, promote business relationships, and display ethnic items. New York City is one of the world's favorite destinations for families and conventions and so we are expecting a record crowd to attend this convention. Exhibitors and Corporate Partners will remain our priority as we work together to provide a world-class forum for increased interactions between physicians, sponsors, exhibitors, and all other attendees. The unique layout of the Exhibit Hall will promote positive discourse between all and various planned activities will ensure their visitation to the Exhibit Hall and maximize attendance. The ease with which members and attendees can move between the Exhibit Hall, conference and ballrooms, and their hotel rooms will ensure maximum attendance and visibility for Sponsors and Exhibitors. Given that a physician of Indian origin sees every 7th patient in this country and every 4th patient in New York, New Jersey areas, the reach and influence of AAPI members go well beyond the convention.

ABOUT AAPI
AAPI was founded in 1982 by a group of concerned Indian American medical professionals with a simple goal: deal with the challenges around immigration and licensing issues facing foreign medical graduates and to create a level field for them. Today, it is the largest non-profit ethnic medical organization in the United States representing the interests of over 80,000 practicing physicians and 20,000 medical students, residents, and fellows of Indian origin. The AAPI organization is a dynamic body, spearheading legislative agendas and influencing the advancement of medical care not only in the US, but internationally. AAPl's impact is seen in areas such as advocating for the increasing physician work force, participating in national health initiatives such as obesity prevention, and investing in global health education. Through its membership, AAPI has national and international reach. AAPI seNes as an umbrella organization with a network of over 160 component chapters including alumni, state, regional, and specialty organizations. The 12 Regional Directors of the AAPI Executive Committee are responsible for communication and coordination of local events and activities. Whether practicing in medically underseNed areas such as inner cities and rural communities or participating in cutting edge research and academics, Indian physicians form an impressive group. One in every seven patient encounters in the United States, and every 4th patient in New York, New Jersey areas, is with a physician of Indian origin.
ABOUT THE CONVENTION The 2016 AAPI Annual Convention & Scientific Assembly offers an exciting venue to interact with leading physicians, health professionals, academicians, and scientists of Indian origin. Physicians and healthcare professionals from across the country will convene and participate in the scholarly exchange of medical advances, to develop health policy agendas, and to encourage legislative priorities in the coming year. The AAPI convention will also offer 10 -12 hours of CME credits (Applied for). Scientific presentations, exhibits, and product theater presentations will highlight the newest advances in patient care, medical technology, and practice management issues across multiple medical specialties.

Through the assistance and hard work of several dedicated and distinguished AAPI Physicians, the AAPI Charitable Foundation was established in 1992. Our Foundation was designed to provide an infrastructure support Serving Humanity Since 1992 system for needy patients in India with two main goals: the first goal was to commit their time and resources to support the clinics for the indigent, and our second goal was to monitor effectively the clinics' progress and be accountable for the overall success of the project. AAPI-CF oversees 19 clinics in as many states, including Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir,r Karnataka, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Punjab, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu and Uttar Pradesh. The clinics vary in size and type with an average of 20,000 patients being treated at the clinic facilities every year. In fact, more than a million patients have received much needed medical care in India, thanks to on-site and outreach programs conducted by these 19 medical clinics. The quarterly AAPI Journal informs more than 10,000 of our Patron members on trends in the medical field and the APl's program and activities throughou,t the United States and the World. The Journal also serves as a platform to recognize members who have been honored in their communities in addition to exclusive event coverage. AAPI Continuing Medical Education & Research
The 2016 AAPI Convention will offer 10-12 hours of CME activity (Applied for). In a paradigm shift, the convention will explore a Symposium and/or Workshop format that will focus on current issues in the clinical management of chronic disease conditions to include evidence-based guidelines, latest therapies, and hot topics. We will also include 1-2 sessions that will count for Ethics CME that can fulfill mandatory medical license renewal requirements in most states. Additionally, the CME Committee is exploring the possibility of offering Dental continuing education. We will seek speakers from a pool of world- renowned thought leaders in their respective fields. Subject to feasibility and availability of speakers, we have shortlisted the following topics Oral presentation abstracts for AAPI New York Convention 2016: the AAPI Annual Meeting Program Planning Committee, in conjunction with the Academic Affairs Committee, has identified the topics below as areas of focus.
