WHAT’S NEW?

STUDY VISIT Nigel Barden (Scala Radio) and Mike Warner (SAGB) had a whistle-stop tour of seafood businesses across North Wales. The tour took them to The Lobster Pot, Menai Oysters, Menai Mussels, Món Dressed Crab and Halen Món. Nigel was overwhelmed with the freshness and quality of the Seafood, therefore sparked an idea to incorporate a Lasagne recipe using Môn Dressed Crab on his cooking and food show on Scala Radio which he co-hosts with Simon Mayo. Please follow the link below to find the delicious crab lasagne recipe. planetradio.co.uk/scala-radio/ entertainment/food-drink/crab-lasagne/

SEAFOOD EXPO GLOBAL, BRUSSELS, 7TH – 9TH MAY 2019

We flew the Welsh flag for the second time at this years Seafood Expo Global, providing an opportunity for the six Welsh Seafood Cluster members who attended to explore and develop new export markets, to encounter new business and to learn and observe new and emerging trends in global seafood markets.

SEAFOOD CLUSTER -

Workshops & Training We have successfully held the following workshops in collaboration with Seafish training - Shellfish preparation, Fish filleting, Bivalve depuration, these were held in locations across North and South Wales. Cluster members attended to develop their skills further. They all received a certificate on completion of the courses. Well done everyone! ‘As a new business, developing our skills from industry experts was essential to ensure we serve our product and customer at ‘Catch of the Day’ Fishmongers to the best of our ability. The skills courses offered through our Seafood Cluster did this perfectly, with hands on and knowledge shared from professionals who are experts in the field.’ Jane Roche - Catch of the Day, Cardigan. Due to popular demand we are planning a Training & Upskilling Programme based on your requirements. Further sessions will include; Smoking, Finance, Quality Assessment of Shellfish & Wet Fish, Selling your product and Pest Control. If there are other topics you would like us to include, please get in touch with us. Finance 1-2-1 surgeries will be held in North Wales on the 25th & 26th of September and in South Wales on the 2nd and 3rd of October. Exact locations to be confirmed. If you are interested in attending one of the surgeries, please contact Sian Davies. Further information will be posted on our Social Media platforms and emailed to our Cluster members. #WelshSeafood #BwydMôrCymru
