As winter arrives, our tendency in the Northern Hemisphere is to spend more time at home. Whether it’s reading a book by the fire, savoring a glass of wine or a cup of tea, or diving into a new series, our homes transform into havens—a reflection of ourselves.
Including a piece of art in your home enriches your living space. Whether it’s a small artwork that sits on your desk or a large focal point that draws the eye, art has the power to elevate and personalize your home.
In this holiday guide, I have chosen a few of my favorite pieces for your consideration.
Wishing you all a safe and happy holiday season!

Every holiday season, I choose a local charity to support by donating the proceeds from one of my paintings. This year, I am delighted to contribute Lunar Watcher (6x6 inches, retail value $285) to the Prince Edward Point Bird Observatory (PEPtBO). You can make your bid through their online auction and help support their vital work in bird conservation.
PEPtBO is a conservation organization that studies, monitors, and reports on the migration, breeding patterns, and ecosystems of birds throughout Prince Edward County. Their work protects birds and their habitats through research, advocacy, and education.

Probably the best-known examples of encaustic art are the Fayum funeral portraits, which date back to the 1st and 2nd centuries AD. These remarkable works are attributed to Greek painters who settled in Egypt, particularly in the Faiyum basin, after Alexander the Great's conquest.
The term "encaustic" comes from the Greek word enkaustikos, meaning "to burn in." It refers to the ancient medium of mixing molten wax with oil pigment, a technique that creates a luminous, durable surface. This process, used for millennia, continues to captivate viewers today.
To care for your encaustic painting, periodically dust the surface lightly with a lint-free cotton cloth and keep it away from extreme temperatures, including freezing or excessive heat. Encaustic paintings are versatile and can even be hung in bathrooms or over fireplaces, adding beauty to a variety of spaces.
