Bivouac
Although we return back to Lepanto City (Nafpaktos) which has a proven quality for a single bivouac race, the race has a totally new area to move to after several discussions with the local authorities and the District government. Therefore West Greece will host 60% of the race to new routes never been used in a race before and the rest will be in Peloponesos in a totally new area. The new bivouac will be by the sea for those who want to cool down in the Aegean warm waters, in a property covered with tarmac. Facilities: a. tarmac surface b. brand new sanitary facilities (showers, toilets) c. Electricity (1phase – 3phase) available with back up generator d. Water supply e. Special place for campers and caravans by the sea with all necessary facilities f. camping spot for limited tents (race is hotel based) g. Medical station 18 hours available h. Hi speed wi fi Stages
The feedback we had from 2016 editon is that versatility of terrain in a well designed mix is rather more fun and challenging, therefore this is the formula we will follow also for 2017 edition in a race that will have everything but desert, including some snowy tracks, sand, mud, stones, dust, challenging trails and fast parts all in one race. Water crossings, rivers is part of the menu and due to a more advantageous season many kilometers in alpine grass mountain tops where navigation and attention will be the crucial factor.
Roadbook
We have achieved a high accuracy roadbook for 2016. We are working hard to improve even further. The same team will work on it for 2017 but we will improve also meter accuracy and design/printing quality to reach a maximum result and make your riding even better. Tracking and timing
We are in progress to upgrade our tracking service with new suppliers that will ensure not only a high level safety system but also a faster information flow to both organization and public. Speed penalties will be calculated faster, the public system will be upgraded for spectators or teams to watch their competitors and any mishaps will be resolved. The new system follows the rider and not the bike so in safety terms we will be even more accurate and faster in response in any case. Recovery
We are growing our team with 4 more pick up trucks and a huge trailer so that we manage not only to reach you faster but also to get your damaged bike back to bivouac on time for your team to repair in normal working hours. Our priority is the rider, but we know that your bike is your other half the days of the rally, so we take care of it as much as yourself. Part of the recovery team will be a mechanic that could resolve some mimor troubles for you on the spot, if that is possible.
Briefing and information flow during the race
We know that information is vital, we know that language barrier is an obstacle, so we have a team member dedicated to this for 2017 which will make sure that all briefing material will be provided in written in English so that the briefing with the Race director will be only for questions and explanations. The written briefing will include: a. Stage profile b. terrain description by approximate distance c. safety notes d. roadbook corrections Medical
We have a new partner in our medical team, a crew with high capacity, high level expertise and top medical vehicles. Our new fleet will include a. 4 off road amulances b. 6 first impact 4x4 cars with paramedics and doctors c. 1 doctor on a bike d. 2 medical first aid stations in the stages e. 1 stand by medical helicopter f. Coverage by 3 Metropolitan hospitals Last but not least
Fun and party is part of rallies, therefore we work on it “very hard�. You have some surprises waiting for you during the rally and after the Prize giving Ceremony.
