concert in which two of his major works share the program with classics from the Western tradition. His concerto for Pipa was inspired by China's Ghost Opera tradition, where shamans communicate with spirits from the past and future and establish dialogues between nature and the human soul. In his Triple Resurrection, Dun celebrates the bicentenary of Wagner’s birth with a spectacular piece of orchestral drama. Lu Siqing, one of China’s finest violinists, is soloist in Mendelssohn’s eternally popular violin concerto, and this program concludes with powerfully emotional music from Prokofiev’s Romeo and Juliet ballet score.
