It is with great pleasure that we welcome you to our annual Charolais bull offering at the 2025 Sugarloaf Angus on property bull sale.
History
This year is an exciting one, marking 21 years since Jane started the stud in the hills of Sugarloaf at 14 years old, with the support and guidance from her father, Alex Tickle.
As sixth generation on the family property at Sugarloaf, cattle is in Jane’s blood, with father Alex breeding stud and commercial Herefords for many years, and in more recent times Angus.
2004 was a special year as Jane and her father secured the very first Charolais cow – Cobrabald Royal, with heifer calf at foot Royal 6, in addition to heifer Palgrove Appeal 16. These females went on to be instrumental in the stud, with Royal 6 having her own very special heifer calf in 2007 – Alpine Supermodel C2E. Supermodel would go on to be the heart of the Alpine herd.
The stud continued to strengthen, and as a teen Jane had the opportunity to show her cattle at many shows across NSW, and was fortunate enough to experience considerable success.
2009 saw the purchase of high seller Palgrove Beckham B417E, a bull that has had tremendous influence on the type of cattle we breed. Quality females have been retained and an outstanding son (E7E) and grandson (Q11E) have been used both in the stud and commercially, with impressive results.
In 2011 while away at uni, Jane met Justin, a fresh faced young stock and station agent, also from generations of stud and commercial cattle breeding. Justin ran a small herd of 100 Brahman and 80 Santa cross females in partnership with his family, using Charolais bulls including E7E over these females. Charolais were instrumental in building the Sanderson family’s herd from that point onwards – now joining over 600 females to Alpine Charolais sires at our property at Gwabegar, lease country at Warren and various agistment properties.
Justin, a director of their agency, sees time and time again the commercial capabilities of the Charolais breed in all conditions throughout Australia, with Alpine bulls breeding quality, eye catching cattle with extra weight.
With a combined passion for the breed, Jane and Justin have built the stud herd together to 70 Alpine females on their home property between Dubbo and Collie, with the additional purchase of the Rockwood Charolais herd from Holbrook in late 2022. These cows are run on their lease property towards Narromine, culminating to a joining of 140 stud Charolais females.
The Bulls
Our bulls on offer in the 2025 Sugarloaf Angus Bull Sale represent a selection of six polled Charolais sires from our group of sale bulls this year. Two of these bulls have been implanted as embryos and reared at Sugarloaf on recipient cows, in order to gain immunity to Theileria. Thank you to Jane’s father, Alex for the use of these cows.
This year’s bulls were raised in the hills at Sugarloaf or at home, weaned to grass country at our home property, then taken out to our lease country near Narromine. For the past three months the bulls been on a ration in preparation for the sale.
All bulls have been semen tested for morphology and motility, treated with 7-in-1 and tick fever vaccinations (to suit Northern Queensland), drenched, conditioned and are ready to work.
A supplementary sheet will be available at the Open Day on 5 July with the additional data of the bull’s weights and scans.

We first saw Memphis, a Silverstream Evolution son, at 15 months old on our first trip to New Zealand.
