WELCOME FROM THE COMMISSIONER
SHIGEO JAMES IWAMIYA COMMISSIONER WELCOME TO THE ARIZONA GAY BOWL! We are so excited that you are here and participating in this testament to the resilience of our spirit and our comradery through football. This is the most expanded tournament ever, four open and two women’s+ divisions, and 59 teams – in total, over 1,000 players in all. The NGFFL cannot be prouder to have been able to make this happen despite many obstacles. We thank each and everyone of you who are participating in this event for your support and love of this sport. We want to take the time to recognize all the hard work the Hawaii and Toronto teams did prior and during the pandemic to be ready for the cancelled 2020 and 2021 programs. We truly wished the postponement and cancelations were not necessary. Gay Bowls typically are 2-3 years of planning in advance of the tournament. For Tempe, we had approximately 145 days. As such, I would be remiss if I did not call out and thank the NGFFL Board for stepping up to organize this event, our friends at the PGFFL, and the major sponsors who stepped in at the very last moment to make this event even possible: Phoenix Cardinals, Molson/Coors, The City of Tempe, The NFL, Geology, and many other sponsors for stepping up and take an active role in sponsoring the tournament. Many of our sponsors and all of our board members will be at our events and on the fields, please make them feel welcome and thank them when you can. Tempe, AZ as our replacement host city has been awesome partner to bring you Gay Bowl 2021. I think you will agree the fields are HOT, not only in the sense that it is a desert and naturally hot, but these are fantastic fields to play flag football on. The only ask from the city is that we play hard, enjoy the city, but above all be safe and follow the established COVID-19 guidelines. There is a lot to catch up over the next few days – many games to be played, friendships renewed and new friends to make. We can’t wait to see everyone compete, connect and unite at this year’s Gay Bowl. On behalf of the Board of the NGFFL, welcome and enjoy! www.CompeteNetwork.com

THANK YOU PGFFL & VOLUNTEERS
We want to take a moment to thank the Phoenix Gay Flag Football League for supporting this year’s Gay Bowl tournament. With very little time in the planning process, PGFFL supported many of the activities of Gay Bowl by planning the events for Friday and Saturday of Gay Bowl. We are happy to be able to partner with the PGFFL to bring the Gay Bowl to the Phoenix area for a historic third time, most of any city in the country, and we couldn’t thank the PGFFL enough for helping us make this happen. From all of us at the NGFFL, thank you to all of the PGFFL members, fans, and community members. We couldn’t have done it without you! - The NGFFL Board of Directors
Without our volunteers from all around the city of Tempe, and the surrounding cities, this tournament would not have been possible. We are continuously amazed and humbled by the community support you have provided for the LGBTQ+ community, and can’t thank you enough for creating a difference in our lives. Your time and effort to help foster a more safe and inclusive community goes beyond this Gay Bowl experience. We are so proud to host this tournament in Tempe, and our volunteers have made this weekend possible. - The NGFFL Board of Directors NGFFL recognizes and appreciates the continued support of NAGAAA.
The Arizona Cardinals Football Club supports the National Gay Flag Football League, and wishes the best of luck to all teams competing in Gay Bowl XXI.
