Reproductive health in Guatemala
FOCUS ON SEXUAL AND REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH THE LATIN AMERICAN PROGRAMMES WHICH FOUGHT AGAINST GENDER-RELATED VIOLENCE CAME TO AN END IN 2010 TO MAKE WAY FOR A NEW CROSS-CUTTING PROJECT: IMPROVING ACCESS TO SEXUAL AND REPRODUCTIVE HEALTHCARE.

Furthermore, a symposium, organised on 11 October 2010 at the French National Library in Paris, enabled us to evaluate %H+*'+#?& 2%*!"#*%*& +#& '(%& 6?('& -?-+#*'& ?%#$%2I related violence. In 2010, the organisation launched several projects to promote access to sexual and reproductive healthcare for women. An initial programme was set up in Mexico aimed at migrant women working in prostitution or as domestic workers. In Guatemala, women working in export industries in Escuintla and Suchitepéquez are helped to obtain access to healthcare. In Uruguay,
the programme, set up as a result of a needs assessment in 2009, has launched three main -3'+=+'+%*& -*& !;-##%$/& G(%& 62*'& +*& +#=";=%$& >+'(& supporting two local organisations which specialise in issues related to abortion, in order to enable them to expand their work over a larger geographical area. The second strand is advocacy work with a view to decriminalising abortion. The third activity aims to share information on the practices related to abortions with organisations in other countries, where projects on sexual and reproductive health exist or will be developed (Mexico, Guatemala, Nicaragua -#$&,%21@/ Finally, MdM completed a needs assessment in Nicaragua, in the rural areas of Puerto Cabezas, with a view to launching a new project in 2011, to support improved access to sexual and reproductive healthcare.
