Greene played for the Pittsburgh Steelers from 1969-81. He was a Pro Bowl selection 10 times and was the NFL Rookie of the Year in 1969. He recorded 66 quarterback sacks in his career and is regarded as one of the greatest defensive tackles in the history of the NFL. The anchor of the famed “Steel Curtain” defense that led the Pittsburgh Steelers to four Super Bowl titles, he was inducted into the NFL Hall of Fame in 1987.

Greene was inducted into the National Football Foundation College Football Hall of Fame in 1983. He was the fourth player selected in the 1969 NFL Draft after earning All-America honors at North Texas in 1968.

ABNER HAYNES Haynes made his mark at North Texas as one of the first African-Americans to play college football in the southwest in 1957. He was an All-America pick in 1959 and signed with the Dallas Texans of the AFL after leading North Texas to the Sun Bowl. He was named AFL Player of the Year in 1960 and helped the Texans to the 1962 AFL Title. Haynes rushed for over 4,500 yards during his pro career. He had his number retired by the Kansas City Chiefs in 1988 and received the NCAA Silver Anniversary Award in 1985. In 2008, he was inducted into the Texas Sports Hall of Fame.
