40 Years of Giving Austin D. Lucas Scholarship Fund Trustees (left to right) Tom Lowkes, CEA Dina Shuster Jeannine Harris Kristine M. Conroy (President) Michael Feinstein Kim Khoury, CEA Randy Stevens, CEA _________________ (not in photo) Jack Boecher, AM

The Austin D. Lucas Scholarship Fund is celebrating its 40th Anniversary and 40 Years of Giving! In celebration of our anniversary we have initiated a “40 for 40 Campaign”. We are inviting individuals, chapters or groups to pledge a Trust. We have also had several Trusts started as Joint Venture Trusts with the proceeds from joint venture deals going towards a Trust. A Trust is established by making a $5,000 donation, which can be given in one lump sum or by making donations over time until the donations total $5000. A Trust is a lasting legacy that directly bene ts the students. When students receive their scholarship they are given the name of a Trust or Trusts that made their scholarship possible. Fifteen new Trusts were pledged at the annual convention. Of those fteen pledges the following Trusts have been completed and established: Terra Rosenbald and Jean Harris Trust Harris, Travis and Lara Rosenblad Trust Ironside and Action Machinery Joint Venture Trust Merle Cromwell Memorial Trust The Trustees and the students who receive scholarships thank everyone who established a Trust and those that pledged Trusts in honor of the Austin D. Lucas Scholarship’s Fund of 40 Years of Giving.

2023-24 RECIPIENTS Austin D. Lucas Scholarship Recipient; Robert M. Mathews I am truly honored to be one of the lucky people to receive the Austin D. Lucas Scholarship. I’d like to take the chance now to thank all of the donors who make this scholarship possible for me and students across the country. Your donation takes so much stress out of our daily lives not having to worry about paying for our degree twenty years down the road. With this scholarship, I am now able to spend more time focusing on my studies and picking up a second major instead of a second job to cover the cost of tuition. This fall, I will be a rst-year student at the University of Cincinnati studying Business Analytics as a part of their Lindner Business Honors program. I also work for the Lindner College of Business as a multimedia producer, putting in as many hours as possible each week to make incredible content for the college to use as advertising or recruiting. I am proud to represent the MDNA and all Austin D. Lucas Scholarship recipients and hope to show every day what it means to receive the prestigious award. One day, I hope to become a donor to this exact scholarship so that I can give back to what solved so many problems for me. Thank you,

Robert Atherton Memorial Trust Scholarship Recipient; Tessa Picken My name is Tessa Pickens and I am from Lake in the Hills, Illinois. I am extremely grateful and blessed to receive the Robert Atherton Memorial Trust for the 2023-2024 Academic Year. This scholarship allows for me to continue my education at the University of Alabama with studies in nance and accounting. I am currently a part of the Accelerated Masters Program for Finance and am hoping to obtain a CPA after college with the credits that I hope to earn. I would like to thank all of the donors and trustees that have made this award possible. This award aids me in furthering my education with less nancial stress and awards such as these are extremely important and life changing for students of lower socioeconomic status. This award has inspired me to stay strong in my studies and to continue to work hard in classes and outside organizations. Again, I thank everyone that made this award possible and the inspiration from the award will carry throughout this academic year.

MDNA Fall Meeting Spotlight New York/New Jersey, Philadelphia, and New England Tri-Chapter Event The MDNA Tri Chapter Meeting was literally one for the history books. David Valitt, his brother, Andrew and the entire staff at Machinery Values hosted an epic New York/New Jersey, Philadelphia and New England Tri-Chapter Event. Not only did attendees have a full tour of Machinery Values’ 150,000 square foot warehouse, one of the largest machine tool dealers since 1971, but our host for this chapter event offered a full bar, huge dinner buffet and an informative business meeting. Hats off to the MVI team and sponsors, MI-RO Machinery, Pedowitz Machinery Movers, Financial Partners Group, Ironside Machinery and B2B Transportation Services. Speaking of history, David did an excellent presentation on the history of the used machinery dealers of NY & NJ. Here is just a small sample of his presentation: “What you had was like a Bazaar or mall with different stores of varying size and inventory. One handling Bliss OBI presses and another Brown & Sharpe screw machines. The majors had whole buildings stocked with inventory. National machinery, Grand Machinery, Zeisel to name a few. Rudolph Bass…” Read David’s full presentation here. Additionally, David passed on a very interesting article, published in the New York Times, entitled “There Goes the Neighborhood, the Machine District” written when Grand exited NYC. Take a moment to check this article out: here. Thank you to David, Andrew and the entire Machinery Values Team and the Tri-Chapter Meeting Sponsors.
