NORTH CAPE
The North Cape Coastal Drive, or “Up West” as we affectionately call it, is home to some of the most breath-taking vistas on PEI. It’s a place where rolling emerald hills give way to rugged red cliffs, and winding dirt roads lead to pristine sandy beaches. It’s also home to the world-famous oysters and a fiddle is never far out of reach.
SUMMERSIDE
The port city of Summerside is the Island’s second largest city with the warmth and friendly feeling of a small town. It also offers 700 guest rooms, with almost 60,000 square feet of meeting space. Delegates can hike the tip-to-tip Confederation Trail that runs through the heart of the city or stroll along the 7kilometre Baywalk along the harbour shoreline.

GETTING HERE
IT'S EASIER THAN YOU THINK!
Prince Edward Island, Canada’s smallest province, is nestled in the Gulf of St. Lawrence between the provinces of New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Québec, and Newfoundland and Labrador. It is accessible by air as well as by ferry and the 13-km Conferderation Bridge.

BY AIR
The Charlottetown Airport (YYG) offers direct flights from Montréal, Toronto, and Ottawa on a year-round basis and, Calgary, Edmonton, and Kitchener-Waterloo on a seasonal basis.
The Confederation Bridge is a 13-km engineering phenomenon. Connecting from New Brunswick, the Bridge is open 24 hours a day and takes approximately 12 minutes to cross. Tolls are collected when leaving Prince Edward Island.
NORTHUMBERLAND FERRIES LIMITED
Northumberland Ferries departs from Caribou, Nova Scotia to Wood Islands, Prince Edward Island on a regular schedule. The trip takes 75 minutes and fare for the ferry is paid when leaving the Island.

Prince Edward Island has a mild climate thanks to the warm waters of the Gulf of St. Lawrence. Being surrounded by water also means that there is usually a breeze and at times can get quite windy.

SPRING SUMMER FALL WINTER

By the time spring rolls around, Islanders are happy to see the snow melt as flowers begin to bloom, grass comes alive, and trees blossom.
Temperatures are quite mild, ranging from 8 to 22 degrees Celsius (46 to 71 degrees Fahrenheit).

Most PEI residents will tell you that summer is their favourite season as temperatures range between 20 and 34 degrees Celsius (70 to 93 degrees Fahrenheit).
It's perfect beach weather! We even have the warmest waters north of the Carolinas.

Autumn temperatures range between 8 and 22 degrees Celsius (46 to 71 degrees Fahrenheit).
The mornings are cooler than in summer, but the afternoons are still warm.
The Island takes on a whole new beauty as the leaves change colour.

During the winter, PEI receives an average total yearly snowfall of 290 centimetres (114 inches). Temperatures range between -3 to -11 degrees Celsius (26 to 11 degrees Fahrenheit), with cold winds by the water.

Additionally, we will establish ongoing communication with your dedicated M&CPEI team member, who will assist you every step of the way.
STEP 2: PROMOTE YOUR MEETING
Our marketing team is here to help you create buzz and excitement for your upcoming meeting in PEI. We will provide high-quality photos and videos for your conference announcements, website, and other promotional materials. Additionally, we will supply you with our Virtual Delegate Bag package, designed to encourage your delegates to extend their stay and fully enjoy all that PEI has to offer.
9-12 MONTHS OUT
STEP 3: PREPARE FOR YOUR MEETING
With your meeting dates set and promotional materials in place, it's time to dive into the logistics that will make your event exceptional.
Start booking services with our trusted partners who offer expert planning, consulting, and meeting facilitation. Pay special attention to securing transportation arrangements early, as seamless travel for your attendees is crucial for a smooth event experience.
Additionally, consider engaging with our partners for décor and offsite venues to create a unique and memorable atmosphere. These details will ensure your business event stands out and leaves a lasting impression on all participants.
6-9 MONTHS OUT
STEP 4: PERSONALIZE YOUR MEETING
It's time to add those special touches that will make your meeting uniquely memorable. We'll share local speaker and entertainment options for engaging content. Plus, choose from delegate gifting options to show appreciation and leave a lasting impression on attendees.
STEP 5: MAKE MEMORIES AT YOUR MEETING
Enhance your event with unique tours and local experiences that highlight PEI's best. Our team will assist in arranging activities showcasing local culture and scenery. Additionally, consider booking photography and videography services to capture the highlights and special moments of your event. These memories will not only enhance the attendee experience but also serve as valuable content for future promotions and reflections on a successful meeting.

3-6 MONTHS OUT
STEP 6: INFORM YOUR DELEGATES
To ensure your attendees have the best possible experience, our team will provide you with a comprehensive Delegates' Guide to PEI. This guide will highlight opportunities for attendees to arrive early or stay late, making the most of their visit. It will also include detailed information on activities, dining, and attractions available during their free time on the island. By equipping your delegates with this guide, you enhance their overall experience and ensure they enjoy both the professional and leisure aspects of their trip.
STEP 6.5 BIG FISH
If your conference qualifies for our Big Fish in a Small Pond program, with 400+ registered delegates, you're in for some special treatment. Our team will reach out to you to gather flight details for our airport welcomes and high-quality logos to feature on the city welcome banners. This program is designed to provide a grand welcome, making your delegates feel valued and enhancing their overall experience from the moment they arrive in PEI.

After securing your host hotel and meeting space with the assistance of our Meetings & Conventions PEI Team, we recommend following the steps outlined below to ensure your event's success.
All timelines are estimates and may vary based on your booking date and seasonal constraints. If you have any questions regarding your specific planning timeline, please do not hesitate to reach out.
1-3 MONTHS OUT POSTMEETING
STEP 7: FINAL DETAILS
As your meeting approaches, it's crucial to ensure everything is perfectly in place. Send out last-minute reminders to your delegates, providing them with essential information and any updates.
Simultaneously, conduct final checks with all booked services—including venue, transportation, décor, and catering—to confirm that every detail is ready to go. This meticulous preparation will ensure a seamless and successful event, leaving nothing to chance.
STEP 8: POST MEETING FOLLOW UP
After your event concludes, we're committed to ensuring your satisfaction and continuously improving our services. Our team will reach out to gather valuable feedback through a PostConference Survey.

WHAT FUNDING OPPORTUNITIES ARE AVAILABLE FOR MY BUSINESS EVENT?
The Tourism PEI Hosting Grant offers funding to non-profit organizations hosting a meeting or convention with offIsland participants. The grant may provide up to $5,000 ($10 per delegate) towards the cost of an opening/closing reception or banquet. The event must be scheduled during the shoulder season – i.e., anytime other than July and August. Learn more here.

WHAT SIZE GROUPS CAN PRINCE EDWARD ISLAND ACCOMMODATE?
The largest meeting space in PEI is the PEI Convention Centre with over 36,180 sq. ft. of meeting space. Historicially, 1300 is the largest group size we have hosted and anything larger than 400 is considered a "city-wide" conference!
