C6 THE DAVIS ENTERPRISE

Voices of America from Davis

have acknowledged at performances the indigenous peoples on whose land their events take place. But wait, there’s more! They spoke out during the BLM movement to support Black individuals and give 9th - 12th graders a safe place to identify and talk about their experiences with race, gender and relationships, with no judgement. Born out of Dave Burmester’s classroom at DHS back in the 1980’s, Acme Theater Company has become one important brick (out of many!) in the building of the Davis community. They not only create a safe place in which our young people can explore who they are and how they fit into the broader community but they also help educate our community about both local and global concerns, through their productions.
