Jane Gloria Heath
July 20, 1923 - Jan. 16, 2021
Jane Gloria Heath died peacefully in her sleep Saturday, Jan. 16, in Placerville, Calif. by natural causes. She was 97. She passed away at Gold Country Assisted Living, where she lived for the past two years. Prior to that she lived in the Independent Living Section for nine years. Jane was born as Jane Gloria Broderick on July 20, 1923, in Berkeley, Calif., third child of Joseph and Daisy Broderick. Her father was stationed at the Presidio during World War I but her parents soon returned to their hometown, Seattle, Wash. where she grew up. When she was nine, her father died of heart failure, leaving her three brothers and her mother. After graduating from Queen Anne High School in Seattle, she attended Seattle Pacific College, where she majored in music and sang in the school choir and studied piano. Attending various social events she caught the eye of a young Navy man, John Mark Heath, from Attica, Kan., who embarked upon a successful project to find out who she was and had contacts arrange a blind date with the energetic young lady. In 1944, they married in the First Methodist Church in Seattle. After Mark finished his stint in the Navy, the couple moved to Tacoma, Wash. where Mark was hired by United Airlines, (UAL) as an engineer and they had their first daughter followed by two more children, another daughter and a son. In subsequent years, they lived in Menlo Park, Calif. when her husband was transferred to the UAL maintenance base in San Francisco. Their last son was born in Redwood City where they lived in the same house for 55 years. She and Mark became very active in the First Baptist Church in Menlo Park, Calif., then later at Peninsula Covenant Church when they moved to Redwood City, developing friendships in both places that lasted throughout the years. For many years she taught piano lessons and enjoyed hours of music with her children. She also worked part time at Sequoia Hospital and then full time at the San Mateo County Office of Education as a payroll auditor. Her interests included, sewing, knitting/crochet, gardening and traveling. She was a great hostess with her church friends and family gatherings and participated in many church activities over the years. Jane outlived Mark, her husband of 59 years; and one daughter, Donna Newman. She is survived by three children and their families; Marilyn Kendrick of Cameron Park; Bryan Heath, of Placerville, and Robert Heath, of Winsor, Calif., also by nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. No service is planned at this time.
Marjorie Engs Isitt Feb. 19, 1938 – Jan. 1, 2021
Marjorie Engs Isitt of Camino, Calif., passed away peacefully at Eskaton Village Placerville Jan. 1. She was 82. Known by her friends as “Marge,” she grew up in El Cerrito, Calif., and married her high school sweetheart, Raymond Laroy Isitt in 1955. Their marriage lasted over 62 years until Ray’s death in 2018. After doing well her freshman year at University of California, Berkeley, Marge left school to pursue motherhood full-time. She gave birth to four daughters and much later she and Ray adopted another girl. Marge was an aviator’s wife while Ray served in the U.S. Air Force as a tanker pilot and later as a TWA pilot. In the fall of 1969, Marge committed her life to the Lord Jesus Christ at a Billy Graham Crusade in El Segundo — a decision she viewed as life changing. It was also in Southern California where she spent time as a Bible Study Fellowship leader, Girl Scout leader and served on the PTA board. In 1974, she and Ray moved the family to Camino/Apple Hill, a place she loved. Marge enjoyed gardening, raising sheep, goats and cows, but her chickens brought her special joy as they laid eggs for her every day. The quiet hours at home brought serenity to her life. Many mornings, Marge would play worship songs on the piano and the guitar as part of her devotional life. She would read her Bible daily and loved hosting home Bible studies. In the 1980s she and Ray opened the Dove Restaurant in Placerville to serve the community by feeding the hungry, and she devoted many years working as a teacher at two Christian schools, Camino Christian Academy and Vineyard Christian School. She lived her life aspiring to follow God’s Greatest Commandments: Love God and Love Others. Marge is survived by her five daughters: Cindy Peterson of Laramie, Wyo.; Jennifer Miller and Susan Walker of Camino; Linda Powell of Canton, Ga.; and Kara Luckett of Pensacola, Fla. Marge richly loved and was blessed with 15 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
Ruth Dorothy Bozzone
Ruth Dorothy Bozzone (97) passed to eternal rest and peace Jan. 6. Ruth was born and raised in the Bronx, New York City and spent the majority of her life there with her loving husband Louis of 51 years. Ruth moved out west in 1994 and settled in Placerville, Calif., to be close to her son Michael; grandsons James and Nicholas and great-grandchildren Brec, Crew, Reagan and Lochlan. The warmth of her bright sunshine smile and epic life stories mixed with her Bronx wit will be deeply missed.
