RED TAPE

Free from suspicion or complications, in compliance with regulations

Example: After clearing the customs check, we’re finally in the clear to transport the merchandise

To make decisions or have control over the process

Example: The customs officers call the shots when it comes to the inspection of high-value merchandise

DROP THE BALL

To fail in fulfilling a responsibility or make a mistake
