ECCQ’s Women’s Ethnic Network invites all women to the International Women’s Day

Brisbane, Jan 31 (MCCQ Newsdesk) ECCQ Press Release

The 2024 International Women’s Day breakfast, hosted by the Ethnic Communities Council of Queensland (ECCQ)’s Women’s Ethnic Network (WEN) will be held again in the picturesque Victoria Park on Friday 8th March from 7:00am, for a 7:20am start. This year, the theme is:

Count Her In: Invest in Women. Accelerate Progress.

This focus on economic empowerment reinforces what we know to be a key factor impacting women, particularly as those who are not economically empowered are more likely to be vulnerable to coercive control, and financial abuse.

Join hundreds of multicultural women for an illuminating breakfast set to recognize the valuable contribution of women to Queensland, uplift women in our community, and celebrate emerging leaders! We will be announcing the winners of the ECCQ Advancing Women Scholarships: the Cleo Xynias Multicultural Woman of the Year scholarship, and the Emerging Professional scholarship.

Stay tuned for our speaker announcements coming soon, and be prepared to join in our raffle and win some incredible prizes!

Come along, be counted and connect with our wonderful WEN women!

Please RSVP by Friday the 1st of March, 2024. Spaces are limited, so get in now!

The Ethnic Women’s Network (WEN) is a part of the ECCQ organization which comprises of women who are entrepreneurs, professionals, academics, and those who are interested in getting together to have chats about professional work, mental health, or just socialization.

This advocacy group WEN organizes regular meetings with their members and often calls mentors and experts in various fields to discuss and address priorities and challenges relevant to improving the equity and advancement of culturally diverse women.

Last year the WEN group organized the International Women’s day breakfast along with ECCQ staff.

This year volunteers and members of WEN along with ECCQ staff are organizing the event. This is a moment where the group recognizes the migrant women who have come a long way to reach Brisbane to make it their home. The focus for the WEN group for this year is to create awareness and programs, workshops, forums, and training around violence against women paving a path to make the larger community aware of the impacts of violence against women.

If you are interested in this group please contact Anna Rolandsen of ECCQ at advocacy@eccq.com.au. to receive the information for joining the group.
