WAMCI bold step in the Arts!

Brisbane, December 15 (MCCQ Newsdesk)

WAMCI World Arts and Multiculture Inc. is an arts organisation established in 2003. It was founded by Melody Chen with a vision “to stimulate the emulation by mutual observation & Research as well as to introduce the celebrated, feature abundance culture and art activities deriving from the Australia region and other global areas.”

Since 2003, the World Arts and Multiculture Inc. has been organising various culturally diverse art programs including that of operating the Multicultural Gallery in Sunny Bank Plaza. This gallery gave an opportunity to many artists of East Asian background as well as from India and Germany to showcase their culture, heritage and art.

They are also involved in creating art spaces in the city to showcase brisbane based cultural artists living in the city. One of the prominant spaces that World Arts and Multiculture Inc. was able to secure was that of the Sunnybank Private Hospital.

The foyer of this hospital is now embellished with colorful artwork that makes one lost in a dream world; a world removed from the present reality of being in the hospital. Several artists have showcased their artwork here including that of Aunty Peggy who put her dot art stories on canvas to transform the walls of this hospital.

Art is often soothing and it makes the mind, the brain relax and release from the stressed moments. An art exhibition in the hospital foyer thus makes community feel safe and pleasant. It gives the much needed respite to those who are on a long term illnesses. It is also a respite for the caregivers of those patients who have a terminal illness.

Art also unites everyone. It brings cultures together under one roof giving each work of art has the ability to tell stories and voice concerns. Such exhibitions curated in the community spaces helps reach the right people.

The World Arts and Multiculture Inc. is organising the Taiwan Culture Festival at Qld Taiwan Center and Lantern Painting Competition Awards ceremony at the Sunnybank Plaza. Check out the Flyers.
