CLUB HISTORY

Originally founded in 1926, Sedgefield Country Club was a popular destination for visitors from the northeastern United States to retreat via rail car in an attempt to escape the bitter cold during the winter While visiting the Triad area, guests enjoyed incredible golf, exciting fox hunts and elaborate balls at the Sedgefield Inn & Country Club. Many Greater Greensboro Open golf tournaments, now known as the Wyndham Championship, were held at Sedgefield over the years, with Sedgefield now being the permanent home of the Triad's only standing "major league" sporting event. Your new golf course is consistently ranked as the top course in the area and in the top ten in the state of North Carolina. The course boasts rolling Champion Bermudagrass greens with classic Donald Ross turtleback design In 2011, Raleigh-based McConnell Golf acquired Sedgefield Country Club and has made many exciting changes benefiting the membership over the years.

With a rich tradition and history unrivaled in the United States, Sedgefield provides its members a comfortable home away from home. We look forward to becoming a part of your family’s traditions and adding your membership to the storied history of this great club!

MEMBERSHIP

YOUR SOURCE FOR INFORMATION

If you ever need assistance with your membership, would like to sponsor a friend or family member for their membership or just aren't sure who to contact, please feel free to contact our Triad Membership Director for assistance - he is here to help!

MEMBERSHIP CATEGORIES

Although you have just joined the club and may not be thinking about a future exit, we understand that life sometimes takes us in different directions. While we look forward to many years of membership for your family, please be reminded that should you need to resign your membership there is a 90-day notice required to do so. Once notice is received, the 90-days begins the first of the next month. You will remain responsible for dues & charges while also maintaining club access during the notice period

Downgrades from the Sedgefield Golfing Class are allowed once per calendar year at the beginning of the golfing year, defined as March 1 by the club Membership Plan. Some corporate memberships are governed by a separate McConnell Golf Membership Plan. please do not hesitate to contact the membership office with any questions you may have regarding resignation or transferring between classifications.

Memberships (except for those designated as “corporate”) are non-transferable, however, the initiation fee paid to join Sedgefield may be transferable to another McConnell Golf property to be applied to a new membership. Many members that have relocated to areas where there are other McConnell Golf properties have taken advantage of this unique perk!

MEMBER IDENTIFICATION

In lieu of physical membership cards, we encourage you to download the McConnell Golf app on your smart phone. A link on the app will provide you with a digital membership card that may be displayed for identification purposes at the club. In order to protect members from improper charges, these digital membership cards should be presented when you are paying for transactions or prior to placing a food or beverage order. The digital card is also handy to show when charging to your account at reciprocal McConnell Golf properties.

GOLF AT SEDGEFIELD

Eric Ferguson, Director of Golf eferguson@sedgefieldcc.com

There are many opportunities to play golf at Sedgefield and participate in our many various tournaments and events. Whether you enjoy playing with your family, friends, or a competitive round in a tournament, there is a game for everyone at Sedgefield!

TEE TIMES

Tee times for play at Sedgefield are available one week out for weekdays and beginning the Wednesday prior for weekend play With such a highly rated course and many members eager to enjoy it, our course sees a steady flow of member and guest play and remains busy most of the time, especially on the weekends.

While the tee sheet generally opens at 7:30am on Wednesday for booking weekend tee times, in times of unprecedented demand, the golf professional staff may change how weekend tee times are booked in an effort to maximize the number of members we accommodate on the course.

Due to heightened demand, we ask our members desiring to play on the weekend to please send an email to the golf professional staff by 1:00pm the Tuesday prior with their preferred tee time as well as the names of the other members in their group. Every effort will be made to secure a tee time for your group within an hour or so of your requested time. If you do not have a foursome, please know you will likely be paired with other members. This is being done to maximize the number of members that are able to play the course. Once the tee sheet launches on Wednesday morning you will be able to book any remaining times for either Saturday or Sunday Also, we are requiring all guest play to be after 1:00 on weekends and holidays. While we know we will not be able to satisfy 100% of the membership, our goal is to create the best possible experience and maximize the enjoyment of the club for the greater number of members.

While we remain busy on a daily basis, there may be some twosomes you see on the tee sheet later in the day on a weekend or even perhaps during the week. While most of our members are very welcoming and would love to have a newer member enjoy the course with them, we would strongly encourage you to contact the golf pro shop prior to adding on to a group that has already booked if you do not know the members. All of our members are unique and have different playing styles and different handicaps. We want to make sure the member that booked the original tee time and anyone that may add-on to that tee time are compatible; therefore, we strongly recommend you contact the pro shop if you are looking for a game and we will be glad to help you find the perfect pairing!

TOURNAMENTS

To participate in a club sponsored tournament or event, you must have a registered handicap. You likely already have one through the Carolinas Golf Association or another local association if you have just moved to the area Our golf professional staff can help you transfer or establish your handicap GHIN at Sedgefield.

RECIPROCAL PLAY

Golf members of the club enjoy reciprocal access to other McConnell Golf properties. Reciprocal access is highlighted with a total of 15 rounds each calendar year for cart fee only across all other McConnell Golf properties each calendar year. No more than 3 of those 15 rounds may be played at one particular property. After the 3/15 threshold is met, access remains for the published accompanied guest rate at that particular club. Reciprocal rounds are tracked by your home club, and each tee time counts as a round For example, if a family of four visits Old North State Club for a round of golf and all play together with the same tee time, it counts as one round.

While you can see the tee sheet for other properties, you cannot book your reciprocal tee times online You must call the Sedgefield golf pro shop (or stop by, they would love to see you!) to book your reciprocal rounds. This is to ensure there are no unforeseen circumstances at the club, such as golf course maintenance (aerification, etc.), tournaments, or other events which may have a negative impact on your visit.

The only time you may access the golf practice facilities at another McConnell Golf property is when a tee time is scheduled. Due to space constraints and ensuring home club members have access to their practice facilities, we unfortunately do not allow reciprocal access to these facilities without a scheduled tee time

Guests are allowed for reciprocal tee times. The guest rules of the home club apply, and if there are any questions, the golf professional staff at Sedgefield can help The same guest is allowed at one particular McConnell Golf property a maximum of six times each calendar year, with no more than 10 collective visits allowed each calendar year. Guest fees, cart fees, etc. are posted on the member’s website and can be provided to you from the golf prop shop as well Rounds played in tournaments such as Member-Guest, etc., do not count toward the numbers listed above.

Home club members may begin accessing weekend tee times at their home course beginning at 7:30 am on the Wednesday prior In an effort to allow for home club members to book their tee times first, when booking a reciprocal weekend time we ask that you wait until after 12:00 pm on Wednesday to do so. More information can be obtained from the club website and from the golf shop professional staff.

PRIZE FUND WEEKENDS

Prize Fund Weekends are some the most popular events we host throughout the year. Prize Fund Weekends consist of six (6) different individual formats played on predetermined weekends April through October The field is separated into two divisions: Senior Men (blue tee and net division) and Regular Men’s Division (white tees and gross & net divisions). Participating members are billed $70 in March and must notify the golf shop on the day of play if they plan to participate. Winners are announced on the following Tuesday Only Male Full Golf Members are eligible to participate.

LOCKER ROOM

We have the luxury of having one of finest men ’ s locker rooms in the Carolinas. We have over 300 lockers and the view overlooking the 9th green is one of the best around. Our Locker Room is attended Tuesday –Saturday from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. Members renting lockers can have their shoes cleaned at no charge and shoe shines are done at a minimal cost.

PRACTICE FACILITIES

Our practice facilities are typically open one hour prior to the first starting time Tuesday – Saturday. The hours of the practice facilities vary dependent on the time of year but are normally open until one hour prior to dark (7:00 in season). Guests may have access to the practice facilities ONLY on the day of their scheduled to play round of golf and must be accompanied by a member Bringing a guest(s) to the practice facilities without a starting time booked and with the sole idea of practice is prohibited at all McConnell properties.

CARTS

Carts are available any time the course is open. The current cart fee is $24+tax per person. Please follow the daily cart rules, as weather and other variables can create “cart path only” and/or 90 degrees only conditions. As general etiquette, when the fairways are open for carts, we ask that carts remain on the path until a direct 90-degree path to the ball in the fairway is available. At this point, the cart may stay in the fairway until signage indicates carts are no longer allowed, directing you back to the cart path. Please use courtesy and common sense when operating carts, and also remember only those licensed drivers 16 and over are allowed to operate the carts.

Unique to Sedgefield, our new line of Club Car carts are equipped with GPS tracking which allows us to geo-restrict certain areas of the property where cart usage is not allowed If your cart appears to stop working, please simply put it in reverse and return to the closest cart path or other area in which the cart last operated. You should receive ample warning messages when approaching restricted areas.

We do offer push carts for rental and members are allowed to use personal push carts for no additional fee and may be used at any time. While most of the newer carts on the market are eligible for use at Sedgefield, we do ask for you to confirm with staff that your cart is eligible prior to your first round with it The only concerns are around potential damage to the course We ask that all pull carts remain away from and off of the green complexes.
