FOREWORD
This Council has a strong track record in both economic development and regeneration. The council is working tirelessly with partners such as the Sheffield City Region LEP and D2N2 LEPs in order to deliver economic growth across the District. We have recently published a Growth Plan which clearly articulates our economic aspirations.
We have put a great deal of effort into the Invest in North Nottinghamshire project which is literally about putting Bassetlaw on the map. Led by the local business community, the objective is to help to create a place brand for Bassetlaw. This will be used to position the District as an attractive place to work, invest, visit and live thereby increasing new business investment, increased visitor numbers and residents’ appreciation of the locality's distinctiveness.
This project will shape Bassetlaw’s future, attracting new businesses, helping to redress the current low business stock, low level of enterprise and low level of business investment into the area.
The Council has also established Growth Teams drawn from existing staff whose objective is to attract investment into the district and help facilitate business growth and housing through working with partners and other departments within the Council.
All of this activity demonstrates our commitment to supporting, developing and attracting business to Bassetlaw and we look forward to working with you in partnership in the future.
Joint Comment from Simon Greaves, Leader of the Council and Neil Taylor, Chief Executive

INTRODUCTION
How to Use This Directory
The purpose of this Directory is to help promote our local economy through the introduction of the variety of opportunities, advice and support available for businesses located within, or wishing to establish themselves in the Bassetlaw area.
Through the classification and listing of local businesses we hope to encourage the local sourcing of materials and services, underpining our ‘buy local’ philosophy.
The Directory is compiled by Burrows working in conjunction with Bassetlaw District Council’s Economic Development Team.
The Directory does not purport to contain the details of every Bassetlaw company – only those organisations who have provided information about their company to the producers of the directory. If your company is not included and you would like it to be, please visit www.burrows.co.uk/bassetlaw This will ensure that potential customers can find your company.
Key information on each entry includes:
•Name and address
•Contact details – phone, email and website
•Key contact name
•Year of foundation
•Size by band
•Search by keyword

WHY CHOOSE BASSETLAW?
Bassetlaw is the place to do business. It offers companies a successful business environment, a wide range of premises and great variety of development and business opportunities at very reasonable rental levels.
Bassetlaw is an area that has undergone tremendous change over the last 20 years and continues to develop at a great pace. This can be seen from the landscape, as former collieries are developed and transformed into new business parks, providing modern industrial and commercial premises - an excellent base for all types of companies.
In Bassetlaw we have business premises to suit all needs, from modern offices to specialised environments for heavy engineering, warehousing and logistics, to a purpose-built innovation centre for knowledge based companies. Bassetlaw also has a number of well-located development opportunities for businesses or developers looking for design and build options to meet their particular specifications.
Bassetlaw has clear potential for investment growth. The district is served by the A1M (j34), connecting at Harworth and Blyth to the A1, M18, M180, M1 and M62 which links to the Humber ports. More importantly, Robin Hood Airport, a priority gateway into the Sheffield City Region, is only five miles away. The development of the M18 / Airport Link Road is key to the growth of the airport and to the neighbouring districts of Bassetlaw and South Yorkshire.
Bassetlaw District Council is committed to supporting a vibrant local economy. The Economic Development team is keen to advise and support business start-ups, pursue inward investment and encourage business growth and survival.

the Sheffield City Region. The geographical location of Bassetlaw, being only 18 miles from Sheffield, means that the District can be a part of Sheffield City Region Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) as well as the Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire LEP.
BASSETLAW: FACTS AND FIGURES
The district of Bassetlaw covers an area of 63,688 hectares. It is one of seven local authorities that make up Nottinghamshire.
Bassetlaw has a population of approximately 112,000 with the key towns being Worksop and Retford, and the smaller towns of Tuxford and Harworth contributing to the more densely populated areas.
Central Bassetlaw is crossed by the A1 and M1 and Robin Hood Airport is less than five miles from Bassetlaw. East Midlands Airport is an approximate 30 minute drive away. Both Worksop and Retford are served by mainline rail stations, the latter being on the main London to Edinburgh line, with journey time from Retford to King’s Cross being less than 90 minutes. The Government recently announced plans for a new high speed rail network which will crucially include a rail station at Meadowhall in

“JOURNEY TIME FROM RETFORD TO KING’S CROSS BEING LESS THAN 90 MINUTES. ”
OUR QUALITY OF LIFE Variety of Housing
One of Bassetlaw's great strengths is the wide variety of affordable housing, from new build developments to an excellent choice of established houses, apartments and bungalows, both to rent and to buy. For those who prefer the bustle of a town, both Retford and Worksop have new developments on offer; the rural aspects of the district means there is an abundance of barn conversions and farm buildings; for those who yearn for close-knit commmunities where neighbours still care about each other, there are over seventy small friendly villages to make your new home in.
Enviable Education
Nottinghamshire County Council is responsible for education provision in Bassetlaw. When the time comes for your child to start school, they provide a wide variety of information to help make the transition as easy as possible. They can tell you what you should look for in a school and what you need to know in order to get a school place for your child. In addition, they also provide advice on how you can support your child and whether you may be able to receive extra help. Nottinghamshire County Council offers advice on getting to school and doing so safely, whether that be on foot or by car, bus or bike.

North Notts College is to be found in Worksop although there are many other colleges just a short distance away. Many are independently maintained and offer a large number of courses covering a wide variety of subjects. In addition to Post-16 education, many also offer a full programme of part-time and adult education classes. You can get further details on course availability, entry requirements and fees by contacting the colleges directly.
Quality Health Care Provision
Bassetlaw Hospital, Worksop, is one of the key hospitals in the Doncaster and Bassetlaw Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The Hospital has 300 beds and an A&E Department. This is supplemented by a number of health centres and surgeries throughout the district and at the time of publishing there are several dentists welcoming new NHS patients.
Work Life Balance
A successful work/life balance can easily be achieved in Bassetlaw and with the district having a wide choice of award winning parks and open spaces, and the towpaths of Chesterfield Canal, enjoying leisure time does not have to cost a thing! There are well-equipped leisure centres in Worksop, Retford and Bircotes as well as three theatres in the area, together with Bassetlaw Museum and several galleries. Clumber Park, owned by the
National Trust, is arguably the jewel in Bassetlaw’s tourism crown.
There are several highlights in the district’s annual calendar of events. These include: the Annual Snowdrop Festival at Hodsock Priory; Retford Charter Day which is held on May Day each year; several fun runs and half marathons during the summer months; Heritage Open Days in September and the annual Worksop and Retford Christmas Lights switch on.
