Dance has become one of the main but exceptionally expensive interest for the people to indulge in. As a designer and also a person who is passionate in dancing, I did a research on how to intergrate daily basis routine with dance and architecture, “ Dance Body and Architecture ”.
Adaptive Reuse
Burnley Youth Skillsharing Hub is created due to lack of creative centres in Burnley for the young generation to express themselves and escalate their quality of life. Various arts specialisation will be injected into the programme of the refurbished building through the local experts.
Digital Design
After a few years of studying, I consequently developed my own type of visualising buildings and nature into pieces of artworks. I engaged real life structure and abstract to understand and explore spatial functionality and aesthetics value of an artwork.
Performative Arts
My upbringing involved various types of performing arts such as singing and dancing together with my family and friends. I comprehend and adapted the knowledge in dances into a new method of designing a creativethesis for my master’s project.

In the middle of complex surroundings, this house was design with simplicity to emphasis and enhance the inner peace for the dweller. The traquility of this retreat juxtapositioning with the naturalness of the context elevates the beauty and quality of spaces in the house.
With elements and priciples of Zen interior, private settings are naturally created as an escape for the people who seek relaxation. Adequate amount of comfortable living environment in the city is the main key aspects in designing the spaces in this retreat house.
Furthermore, transitioning spaces from one to another are yet renewed with nature, elegance and linear form of designs to encourage full functioning areas for the homeowners.

The masterplan concludes all the interventions of public realm in Manchester city. It is the ultimate place to realise your sense of self, to bring back the sense of belonging and freedom. The spaces are interconnected and derived thoroughly on the movement of public-dancers. Journey into the interventions of public daily routines provide difference experiences for the end users of these spaces.

These sketches are made in the early stage of generating ideas for a public realm. Based on research and few studies of existing public spaces in Manchester city centre, several aspects and features were taken into consideration in building a new open facilities to accommodate people in daily basis.
Various movements of people in the city centre has been implemented as the concept of the future design of the public spaces, the exisitng layout will be transformed through juxtapositioning axises of attractions and facilities.

The designs and methodologies adapted to the public spaces help characterising the city scapes to be even more inclusive in terms of safety, accessibility and programmes. Identified dancers and the public accelerate the process of rethinking these spaces to facilitate people with differences.
As shown above, one of the well-known dances in the western, Ballet, analysed to create a modular pattern for public spaces development. The iteration merges the concept and movement of ballet dancing and the six Keys of Dynamism in Dance.

Walking as Dancing, the principles or Keys of Dynamism in Dance were adapted to iterate the morphology of the site context. In the process of designing and creating an inclusive space for the public-dancers, various styles of dance movements were used as a guide to curate structures thus providing new layout of the existing Manchester Piccadilly Gardens.

New layers of public spaces were added to the station which creates high street where people can express themselves in any performative activism without disturbing the existing circulations of the streets. Giving access to the disabled people is one of the most prominent aspects in order to create an inclusive environment of public spaces
The original layout will be maintained as it does serve the function of a waiting area. Integration between greenery and leisure areas consolidate the definition of public realm design. The design of the seatings are incorporated into the landscape design and the process is most parallel to each other.

The seatings and stairs provide more spaces for the to freely perform their talents on it

The section for the communal space; the seatings, tables and a platform for any performative activism.

Study area curated with simplicity to promote modern interior design with a pinch of creative elements.

The circulatory raised timber grid structure on site serves as a mutifuntional space for both ease of access between residents, as well as a space to be occupied by the “C O“ activities developed from the briefincluding creatively working; collaborating; growing; and distributing to the wider community. The image above is the exploration of the programme through the section of this creative housings.

This project is a rumination on the marginalisation of young BAME people affected by our complex systems of living. This co-housing scheme has optimised arts as a medium for co-living. We hope this project serves as anti-thesis to our existing hypercapitilised systems of working and living, and as a symbol that alternative methods can be developed in response to heightening racial dispossession.

The act of creation builds selfesteem, helps to dismantle the hierarchies the marginalised group are faced with, as well as serves as a method of catharsis. The act of collaboatively making encourages teaching and learning.
By integrating the wider community, the research question is not limited to the site. The ethos, speculation and post-capitalist anarcho-artistic methods of the actors can be interwoven within a wider Burnley.
The growing of produce to allow for the communal kitchen and cafe to thrive helps to facilitate cohesion through interactivity between users. The growing of plants, fruits and vegetables facilitates the growing of confidence and community.
SHARING MAKING GROWING WIDER COMMUNITY
(ABOVE) The sectional perspective drawing captures all of the “Omega“ activities occuring acorss the site for both the residents and the wider community. The residents share their space, and ownership of their housing units whilst still being able to make and grow produce. The space is open to be used by the wider community through markets and arts events.

View catches a glimpse of the varying activities occurring within the scheme. A resident is fashioning his place of sleep on an outdoor mural programme activity, whilst another picks produce grown on site to be used in the communal kitchen and canteen.

“OMEGA“ CONCEPT
The diagram illustrates all of the Degrowth strategies on site operating within the larger sphere of “Omega“ that oversees the conceptual framing of this project. These factors were all taken into through an in-depth site analysis in terms of social and resource sustainability, and therefore “sourcing“ first and allowing the design to proceed.

Methodology: Chiharu Shiota
Her artwork which adapted from is the In Silence, 2019. State of Being (Boats) delivered her message of how things are connected through memory of a human. She used threads in each of her artworks to represents the same meanings with a distinctive aesthetical and sentimental value. The introspective research is the fulcrum around which all the artist’s works revolve, exploring the universal themes of existence, death, solitude and memory with a meditative approach that allows the viewer to come into contact with the artwork and its creator.

Methodology: Ayumi Shibata
Adapting Ayumi Shibata, a Japanese singer and modern artist methodology on exploring and potraying the layers of life and hows the world is actually limitless.
As practiced in MArch Year 2 Design Thesis performance, the 3d layered paper arts has their own sentimental value and aesthetics. Each layers potray different meanings and stories and together they coexist in this world helps blurring the blankness in possibilities.

As I am intrigued in digital and graphic designs, have also curated few portraits of friends into cartoon characters. Through the Autodesk Sketchbook Pro, have mustered up few skills in using multiple pens and brushes in composing colors and features.

These are few of the line-art sketches I did for my online business during the pandemic of Covid-19. To ensure that I muster up the skills in doing arts, I constantly curating arts during my free time with different styles of artworks.
