CELEBRATING 40-YEAR LEGACY OF SAVING LIVES

On September 16, 1985, Joy Pountney began her career at Pacific Safety Products (PSP), working part-time with phones, filing, and typing. When PSP acquired GH Armor, she transitioned into the GH business unit and over the years took on a wide range of responsibilities including inventory control, BOM creation, SOP development, shipping and receiving paperwork, HR, and health & safety. Her favorite role, however, has always been customer service, her current role, a natural fit for her love of working with people.

When she started, the office relied on fax machines, typewriters, rotary phones, and even a telex machine. She recalls the early challenges of learning new tools, including accidentally hanging up on the president of Barrday three times while trying to master the phone system. When PSP began making body armor in 1986, Joy was at the heart of the transition. One of her earliest lessons still makes her smile: “They told me they shoot the armor for testing. I thought someone was actually wearing it. I was very thankful for my desk job.”

Joy has witnessed remarkable changes during her 40-year career.

Through all the changes, what has kept Joy here for four decades is the people, the problem-solving, and the challenge of something new every day. She takes pride in her ability to adapt and learn new systems, and her advice for new employees is simple and wise: “Keep an open mind. Learn it, absorb it, and be in it. Learn as much as you can and stay flexible, because everything changes on a dime. Above all, be honest and be fair.”

We are proud to celebrate Joy’s incredible milestone and are deeply grateful for the commitment, humor, and dedication she has brought to GH Armor for

40 Years!

This September, we proudly celebrated a major milestone: Ingo Mahler, our Head of Production, marked his 40th work anniversary at Wälischmiller.

Ingo began his career with us in 1985 as an apprentice machine fitter. After successfully completing his apprenticeship, he gained hands-on experience in steel construction and assembly, laying the foundation for a career defined by continuous growth and leadership. By 1993, he had expanded his expertise into sheet metal working and gas-shielded welding, while also stepping into his first leadership role as deputy master craftsman in steel construction.

During this time, he played a key role in mentoring and training junior staff, an early sign of his commitment to developing others.

From 2000 onward, Ingo’s focus shifted to work preparation and production control, supporting production management and gradually taking on more responsibility. His leadership journey continued with management roles in both the machining and steel construction departments, steadily broadening his scope and impact

Since 2011, Ingo has served as Head of Production, overseeing the entire production process, including work preparation, machining, steel construction, warehousing, and internal assembly. His deep knowledge, steady leadership, and unwavering dedication have been instrumental in shaping HWM’s operational excellence.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to Ingo for his outstanding service, leadership, and loyalty.

Congratulations on this incredible milestone, and here’s to many more years of collaboration and achievement!

Spotlight on Chris Kimbell

Behind the Gear: A Life-Action Hero

Before joining our team, Chris was part of the tactical unit that captured the infamous “Roofman” robber in Charlotte.

The real-life case involved Jeffrey Manchester, a former Army Reserve soldier who became known for his bizarre crime spree, breaking into businesses through their roofs to commit robberies, escaping from prison and even hiding out in a Toys

“R” Us for months. Chris and his team were able to quickly track down and capture Manchester, returning the fugitive to justice.

The story later inspired the Hollywood film Roofman, starring Channing Tatum,

where Chris consulted and even appeared as a SWAT officer.

Today, Chris applies that same precision and problem-solving to help customers find the right tactical solutions. His realworld experience gives him a unique edge, and an incredible story.

Next time you chat with Chris, ask him about the capture, the movie, or his favorite gear. We’re proud to have someone with such an incredible story, and unmatched expertise, on our team.

ICOR TECHNOLOGY CELEBRATES

20 YEARS

On August 5th, the ICOR team gathered not just to mark a milestone, but to honor a legacy. Twenty years ago, in 2005, ICOR was born out of a vision, one rooted in decades of engineering and manufacturing expertise, a deep understanding of the EOD/IEDD landscape, and an unwavering commitment to saving lives.

Fast forward to 2025, and that vision has grown into a vibrant story of innovation and impact. To celebrate ICOR’s 20th Technology Anniversary, the team came together for a day filled with memories, laughter, and connection.

The celebration began with cake pops, sweet symbols of a sweet journey, and a “memory timeline” that stretched from 2005 to 2025. This timeline wasn’t just a showcase of the robots we’ve released over the years; it was a living story. Team members added their names to the year they joined ICOR, visually weaving themselves into the fabric of our history.

Each name, each robot, each year, together they told the story of how ICOR has grown, evolved, and thrived.

ICOR TECHNOLOGY CELEBRATES

20 YEARS

The festivities continued with a barbecue, where stories flowed as freely as the grilled flavors. Colleagues shared moments from their time at ICOR, some humorous, some heartfelt, all meaningful. It was a reminder that while technology is our craft, people are our core.

As we look ahead to the future, we carry with us the spirit of those two decades: bold innovation, deep expertise, and a team that turns vision into reality. Here’s to the next chapter of ICOR’s journey, written together, one story at a time.

COMMUNITY CONTRIBUTIONS

ICOR, MED-ENG AND SAFARILAND

On Friday, August 22, teams from ICOR and Med-Eng hit the green at Hammond Golf Club for a great day of golf, connection, and giving back.

Thanks to everyone who participated, donated, and helped support this year’s causes: Make-A-Wish Foundation, Breast Cancer Action (The Kelly Project), and the Orléans-Cumberland Community Resource Centre.

The day included lunch, a shotgun start at 1:00 PM, fun on the course, a silent auction, and dinner to wrap up. Special thanks to those who brought food donations for the local food bank.

We’re proud to have been part of such a meaningful event, looking forward to next year!

Once again, our Safariland team in Jacksonville proudly participated in the First Coast Heart Walk, an inspiring event that unites communities to raise funds and awareness in the fight against heart disease and stroke, the No. 1 and No. 5 causes of death in the U.S.

Though our team was small, we were mighty! With joy, energy, and camaraderie, we walked the full 3 miles together, embodying the spirit of unity and purpose. It was a meaningful opportunity to take action, support lifesaving research, and celebrate the progress being made toward healthier hearts and longer lives.

COMMUNITY CONTRIBUTIONS

LET’S CLEAN THE BEACH - TIJUANA

On Saturday, September 20th, the Safariland Tijuana Social Responsibility Committee organized the annual “Let's Clean Up the Beach” event, where volunteers from various companies in Tijuana came together to help restore and protect our local coastline. Approximately 1,724 kg of trash was removed from the beach by the 600 attendees, including more than 30 volunteers from Safariland who proudly supported the cause.

This year, the event also welcomed the participation of employees’ children, making it a meaningful opportunity to educate the next generation about the importance of keeping our beaches clean and raising awareness of the impact pollution has on our oceans. Their enthusiasm and involvement added a special touch to the day, reinforcing the value of community and environmental stewardship.

COMMUNITY CONTRIBUTIONS CANCER AWARENESS

This October, Jacksonville teams are showing their support in style, wearing pink every Wednesday and Friday to honor Breast Cancer Awareness Month. From handmade ribbons to heartfelt posters, our teams have come together to recognize and uplift those impacted by breast cancer.

A special shoutout to Team Safariland, who proudly participated in the “Making Strides Against Breast Cancer” walk on October 18th in Downtown Jacksonville. Their dedication helped raise an incredible $1,053 for the cause!

Even more inspiring? All Armor teams were represented as well as Duty Gear, a true testament to our unity, compassion, and commitment to making a difference.

COMMUNITY CONTRIBUTIONS

CANCER AWARENESS

As part of Safariland’s Tijuana ongoing commitment to social responsibility, the Social Responsibility Committee recently partnered with the Castro Limón institution to support children battling cancer. Through the generous participation of more than 50 employees, we successfully raised over 15,500 pesos (870 USD), which directly funds chemotherapy treatments for children in need.

Employees contributed by purchasing items distributed by Castro Limón, turning everyday products into powerful tools for change. This initiative not only reflects our values but also demonstrates the incredible impact we can make when we come together for a cause.

Thank you to everyone who participated, your support is helping change lives.

DRIVING INNOVATION

Shaping our Success and Strengthening our Commitment to Excellence

Under the leadership of Jerry Peludat, Southeast Regional Sales Director, the Sales Team successfully completed sizing for the first 1,200 Hyper X vests designated for the Puerto Rico Police Department.

Over the course of five days, the team traveled across multiple locations in Puerto Rico to ensure officers were properly fitted, supporting this significant and impactful order. Their dedication marks a major step forward in our mission to protect those who serve.

After three years of effort, collaboration, and countless trips, NuVision Engineering has successfully implemented a Mechanical Stress Improvement Process (MSIP) on ten welds at the Chooz Nuclear Power Plant, Unit 1 in France. NuVision was represented by Erica Buffington, Elray Henderson, Stephen Smith, Erich Keszler, and Tom Kelley. The team worked in close partnership with Westinghouse to achieve this milestone.

This accomplishment marks an important step forward for NVE in the French and European market and has already opened further discussions about the applicability of MSIP on the international market. France operates the second largest fleet of nuclear reactors in the world, with 56 reactors, behind only the United States, which operates 93. Completing this first MSIP project in France not only strengthens NVE’s position in the European market but also opens the door to further opportunities around the globe.

FROM HONORING SERVICE TO RAISING AWARENESS

At Cyalume’s West Springfield site, our team came together on two meaningful occasions to show support, raise awareness, and reflect on the values that unite us.

On August 1st, they launched the first RED Friday (Remember Everyone Deployed), with strong participation from the shipping team. General Manager, Victor Carreno, shared a heartfelt message about the importance of recognizing those who serve, especially when they’re deployed and away from their families. He reminded us that the work we do here truly saves lives and makes a difference.

Then, on September 11th, as part of Suicide Awareness Month, employees participated in a walk to raise awareness and support mental health. The day also served as a moment of reflection, honoring the unity our country felt in the aftermath of the tragic events of 9/11.

A huge thank you to Victor Carreno and Candace Jayko, Factory Manager, for their leadership and coordination, which made it possible for all associates and leaders to participate in these powerful moments.

Together, we continue to live our mission, not just through our work, but through the way we show up for each other and our communities.

BUILDING STRONGER CONNECTIONS

For the past three years, the Cyalume France Team has gathered each quarter for a themed lunch, lovingly prepared by several team members. On Monday, October 20, the team enjoyed grilled dishes and fresh salads in a warm, friendly atmosphere.

In a humorous twist, after three months of sunshine, it poured all day, forcing the group to move the celebration indoors, under heaters in the warehouse!

A big thank you to Robert Mallaroni, Warehouse Supervisor, for setting up a cozy space and serving as grill master.

The team in France are already looking forward to ringing in the New Year together in January, hopefully under sunny skies!

BUILDING STRONGER CONNECTIONS

In August, the Bendalls Engineering team hosted a Summer Social that brought colleagues and their families together for an afternoon of games, delicious food, and plenty of laughter, including some friendly competition during the Tug of War!

It was a fantastic opportunity to connect outside of work and celebrate the dedication of our incredible team. We couldn’t have asked for better weather!

A huge thank you to everyone who joined and helped make the day such a success!

The Engineering Workshop management team at Bendalls recently returned from a transformative week with The Outward Bound Trust at Eskdale.

Stepping away from daily responsibilities, the team had the opportunity to reconnect, strengthen relationships, and refocus on shared goals.

During the experience, the team identified key focus areas that will be further developed through upcoming internal workshops, ensuring the lessons learned are brought back into the workplace.

A heartfelt thank you to The Outward Bound Trust for providing such a valuable and inspiring experience!
