Health NEW National Suicide Prevention Lifeline - Save a Life

The U.S. is getting close to the July 16 transition to 988 – the easy-to-remember number to reach the existing National Suicide Prevention Lifeline. This transition is an important step to strengthening and transforming the crisis care continuum in the U.S. To help our partners communicate about 988, SAMHSA has added downloadable print les for wallet cards, magnets, and posters to its 988 Partner Toolkit. The toolkit already includes logo and brand guidelines , key messages, frequently asked questions, fact sheets (English and Spanish), radio PSA scripts (English and Spanish), and more. SAMHSA is also working to make the print materials available for ordering from the SAMHSA store and will be adding social media shareables by mid-July about the basics of 988.

Healthy Tropical Fruit Popsicle Recipe INGREDIENTS

4 oz frozen mango 4 oz fresh pineapple 4 oz frozen strawberries 1/2 banana or 2-3 oz extra berry, mango, or

pineapple 1 cup unsweetened almond milk or coconut milk 1/4 cup fresh orange juice (lemon or lime juice work great too) 2 TBSP raw honey

INSTRUCTIONS • Combine mango, pineapple, 1/2 cup almond milk, and 2 TBSP orange juice in you blender and blend until pureed.

• Pulse honey in at the end for best results • Set mixture aside by pouring into in a measuring cup with a pourable spout, if you have one.

• Next add strawberry and banana (or 2-3 extra ounces of your fruit of choice) to the blender with 1/2 cup almond milk and 2 TBSP orange juice and blend.

• Pulse in honey at the end and set aside.

• Using about half the mango-pineapple mixture, pour a little into each pop mold.

• Top with your strawberry layer then repeat with the remaining mango mixture.

• Insert a pop stick into each mixture and swirl together. You can also pop the mold into the freezer between each layer for a pretty striped pop. I go the easy swirl-y route, haha!

• Leave a little bit of empty space at the top of each pop mold, pops will expand when they freeze.

• Freeze until solid: Approx. 5 hours or overnight.

• If your mold uses a lid and wooden sticks, you can allow your pops to partially freeze, uncovered, for about an hour, then add the lid and carefully insert the sticks. The partially frozen slush will cradle the stick and help you keep it straight for easy removal. This method is great because you can also place the sticks more on the shallow side this way, allowing more of a handle for little (or large!) hands to grip.

My name is Alexandria Trejo. I am in my 3rd year at the University of California, Los Angeles. I am majoring in Political Science and minoring in Chicana/o and Central American Studies. Currently, I have been working under a non-partisan organization called CA Freedom Summer.

Our work focuses on educating and encouraging youth to vote. We recently completed a project in which we educated youth on the importance of voting and were able to register hundreds of High School and College students all over California to vote. This summer, through CA Freedom Summer, we will work together with many organizations throughout California and work to help them in their work while conducting voter registration and conducting youth conferences. I am also hoping to implement a resolution that would ask the Rialto Uni ed School District to register the senior class of each high school to vote, to educate students on the importance of voting, and to encourage students to be civically engaged.

I believe that through this resolution we create a culture of civic engagement in our city. I am hoping to attend law school after completing my undergraduate education, with hopes of becoming a prosecutor for the Los Angeles County Superior Court.

My name is Samira Salau and I’m from Perris, California.

I'm now entering my second year of studies in Biological Sciences at the University of California, Irvine. Throughout this summer, I've been aiding David Morgan and Associates in signature checks for California petitions, producing spreadsheets for community projects, and newly beginning Covid testing. Aside from my position at DM & Associates, I launched a small business from home in the early stages of the pandemic, assembling and selling personalized handmade roller skates. With the existence of social media, I was able to expand my business and get more clientele than I ever could have envisioned. This year, I decided to take time off from my small business to concentrate on my academics and other job opportunities. I'm a busy BioSci major aspiring to become an anesthesiologist or medical surgeon.

Although my rst year had been a little rocky and not as smooth as I had anticipated, I'm not going to be discouraged as I enter my second year headstrong and ready to persevere and conquer in my classes. This is merely the beginning of a long journey, and I will ght hard until I have my doctorate in hand. Overall, I've learned a lot about myself, my career 7 been possibilities, and the tough business world.Page It has extremely valuable to me, and I intend to continue learning in all of those aspects.

Deborah Robertson Foundation Scholarship Recipient Makes Dean’s List

Allanah Mouton, a fourteen-year-old from Rialto, was accepted into a college program at thirteen through the Early Entrance Program for the Honors College at CSU Los Angeles. She is also a scholarship recipient under the Deborah Robertson Foundation. For the Spring 2022 semester, Allanah has made the Dean’s List for the College of Natural and Social Sciences. Allanah truly exempli es strength and perseverance even at the early age of thirteen and we are truly proud of our young jewel from the jewel of the I.E! Congratulations Allanah and family.
