Something that all Rotaract club members have in common: we should take action. As community volunteers, we reach out to neighbors in need. We build, support, and organize. We save lives. We work locally and globally. We share our time and experience with young people in our community and all over the world. By arranging impressions and the results what were achieved in last year, it is a great way to plan the ideas and tasks for new year. Setting the ideas is only the ‘planning’ part. Before all, we should ask ourselves, have we achieved our goals that we have set from the past? Have we learned something from our previous endeavors? If we are serious about accomplishing great things in this year, we should be focused and fired up! And we would keep going at full speed through until we can see the expected positive results. Let’s enhance our social skills by developing our respect, interaction and love for the social and natural environment. Frost and cold are rapidly approaching, snow goes and melts... The ideas, like seasons, come and go if we do not use them. The Newsletter II is our our new challenge and effort to arrange all our achievements in one interesting way, to attract your attention. How to recognize talents According to the Rotary International information, there are more than 34,000 clubs worldwide. You can find the members volunteering in communities to support education, job training, to improve health, to improve life and social environment. We are also together to recognize, to appreciate and to hold up the talents. How to recognize talents? At first, let’s try to change our interests and hobbies, let’s release yourself from clamps, try to do new things, to explore new work. As some people used to say, talent was very often masked by the mundane or repetitive tasks. You can easily be surprised at who or how real talent might be hiding right under your nose!
“Jobs with strict responsibilities and descriptions are often limiting, rules and guidelines in school, tight regulations or policies and even family boundaries about who does what and how you should behave can be incredibly limiting instead of exposing talent”.
Do we really appreciate talent? In 2007 a well-known musician wanted to organize a social experiment in order to find out about human perception, likes and priorities. Joshua Bell went to a metro station in Washington DC and started playing the violin in the early rush hour of 8 o’clock a.m. The violinist performed six classical Bach pieces for 45 minutes and almost 1,100 people passed by, but just a few of them stopped for a couple of seconds. This small percentage was thanks to several kids who really appreciated the melody although they were interrupted by their parents. Moreover, after the experiment, he just collected s34 dollars. This number becomes much more surprising when you know that the violin he was using costs 3,5 million dollars and that two days before he did his performance in the metro, Joshua Bell had sold out in a theatre in Boston were each seat cost an average of 100$. After this test would you say human beings perceive beauty? Do we stop to appreciate it? Do we recognize talent in an unexpected context or is it that we just like something due to social pressure? “.Talent being exposed and recognized is typically not the normal behaviors of people and so there are almost always things that get in the way. We must break through these barriers to bring out the talent, happiness, and success for as many people as possible“...It seems easy to be said. Is it easy to be done? To impose your talent is harder than to impose your oppinion, since the proof of talent requires a different and specific mode of action.
Do not forget maybe the most important thing! Talents are not only in opera, in the leading sports clubs, in the Museums, in the leading laboratories. Talented people live all around us. 1

GREAT SUCCESS!! OUR WINNERS
From the Editors When the talented young people are members of our clubs it makes us very proud and happy. Among them are Nikola and Bojana Pekovic. Nikola Pekovic is a member of the Rotaract club Nis, and Rotaract club Nis is more than proud of Bojana and Nikola’s success. He helped in organizing the humanitarian concert "Music Break the silence" 15.12.2011. whose income was intended for school children, "14. Oktobar " in Nis.
Nikola and Bojana Pekovic, brother and sister, managed to qualify for the finals, "I have talent," and in an unprecedented way, because Bojana was performed on the fiddle and Nikola on the accordion. This blend of music through that they shown their skills, but also told the story about the love of brother and sister. The audience was delighted, so they were awarded with the highest number of votes in Sunday's show. It gave them a chance to fight for the prize of 100,000 euros. They say that if they are lucky to win the money, they will invest all in education.
Congratulations for all their achievements, originality, charm and virtuosity!
I am the only one who believes in love at first sight, my love for the accordion was born in that way. Our family is rare in Serbia where the saving of tradition and culture gives much importance. I am proud of my sister and myself because we did that, after several years of work and effort we properly represent it - Nikola said

Key message: Innovation processes have the potential to stimulate positive change: successful innovations can capture the humanitarian imagination, and provide new ways of delivering assistance to those who need it most. Instead of asking, ‘what went wrong?’, and aiming for incremental improvements in delivery of aid, innovation demands new ways of thinking and the boldness to answer more searching questions, such as ‘how are things currently done, and is this the best way to do From the Editors When we think of humanitarian activities we should know that the humanitarian activity is a kind of arts and sciences. The humanitarian endeavour should be adapted to the real needs, should be innovative spirit, what we can find out from the book “Innovations in international humanitarian action” written by Ben Ramalingam, Kim Scriven and Conor Foley (3 – ALNAP Review of Humanitarian Action) Existing practices, norms, policies and rationales represent a ‘generative learning’ created and often modulated or even inhibited by a social environment and culture relationships. This book is a study aimed to explore how the members and the wider sector might prioritise humanitarian innovation and risk-taking in policy and practice. The debate about humanitarian innovation is closely linked to the debate about the current weaknesses of humanitarian action. The three dimensions of innovations are focused: Instead of paraphrasing the book, we would like to reflect on some important points and the mayor key messages. 1 ‘what’ – the focus and scope of innovations 2 ‘how’ – the processes involved in innovations, theoretically and in practice 3 ‘context’ – individual and organisational capacities, the relationships within and across organisations, social, economic and political factors that either enable or inhibit innovation processes.
Working definition: Innovations are dynamic processes which focus on the creation and implementation of new or improved products and services, processes, positions and paradigms. Successful innovations are those that result in improvements in efficiency, effectiveness, quality or social outcomes/impacts.
Key message : The process of innovation is neither fixed nor linear, and depends greatly on political and organisational context, as well as chance. However, analysis of the development of innovations across different sectors shows that successful innovation processes are proactive intentional processes, include several common elements, and progress through a number of key developmental stages. There are many examples of innovation and change in the humanitarian sector – beyond the idea of incremental learning from the past, and towards transformational learning for the future. But many organisations still do not have strategies to manage innovation, making it likely that many ideas are not picked up. A realistic understanding of what is possible can be complemented with learning from past innovations to seek new ways to realise improvements. Phases: Where innovations processes are successful it include the following phases. • Recognition of a problem, challenge and related opportunity for targeted innovation at the level of product, process, position, paradigm or some combination thereof. • Invention of a solution or idea which helps to address the problem, overcome the challenge or take advantage of the opportunity. • Development of the innovation through creating practical plans and guidelines for products, services, processes or new organisational models. • Implementation of the innovation to produce real instances of changed practice in operational settings • Diffusion of the innovation to ensure its wider adoption for benefits outside the original setting. This includes the communications channels by which the innovation is shared, the social system within which it is disseminated, and the process through which innovation is continually developed In conclusion, the autors want to point out that we are supposed to create a culture which encourages real and lasting humanitarian innovation. REPORT WINTER REM 2012 TORINO, ITALY
JANUARY 26-29th
Volume 1, Issue 1 Dear Rotaractor, This year’s winter REM started on 26th of January and it lasted until 29th of January. Three day program included: skiing, touristic tour of a city, night life of a city and off course a Gala night at Fiat Industrial Village. There were around 700 people joining this event. We had 13 members representing our country, and they did a great job! As part of promoting Serbia RTC Novi Sad and RTC Dedinje shared a couple of bottles of rakija, talked about the clubs and projects that are coming in the future as well as sharing ideas of joined projects. They all made great connections with other participants. At the Country Representatives meeting that was held on 28th of January Turkey and Romania had their presentations for next winter REM. After the voting and counting the votes Romania won, it is my great pleasure to announce that Timisoara will be the next meeting place in January 2013. We also had a chance of hearing a little bit more about EUCO in Moscow (soon the waiting list will be opened) and REM in Kyiv 2012 (dates and program will be sent soon). At the meeting CR’s presented their projects and I had an opportunity to present Rotary Summer Camp that will be organized on 19th of July. The election of BESP and TCA is opened and the winners will be known at EUCO. So, until 10th of March all clubs can send me the applications for BESP and TCA.

Date: November 25th 2011 Place: ,,Baš kuća,, Subotica Goal: Collecting sweets for the Christmas-packages This should be an informal getting together at a restaurant for Rotaractors, young Rotarians, our friends and supporters. The entrance-fee is payed in sweets and chocolates. These sweets will be part of the Christmas presents for foster children. That project was finalized later on. Basket of solidarity Date: December 3rd and 4th 2011. Place: „METRO“ Cash & Carry, Subotica Goal: The goal of this project is to collect essential consumer goods, products for personal hygiene, durable food for households in need, living at the suburban area of Subotica. Description: We organize this in cooperation with a local supermarket and the local Center for Social Work. This project has three parts: Part 1: Collecting the donations Part 2: Reorganizing and packing the goods Part 3: Transporting and giving the goods to the final destinations The first part of the project took place at the local „METRO“ Cash and Carry supermarket and lasted for two days (Saturday and Sunday). Almost all of our members had to be on duty for 4 hours, working in teams of 2-3 at the entrance of the supermarket and on the exit. Each day, 4-6 Rotaractors, in two shifts promoted the humanitarian activity by giving flyers which describe the project and talking to people at the entrance, and on the other hand collecting donations on the exit at a huge „basket of solidarity“. All the collected donations were put together at a kitchen of one of our members, couple of us got together and sorted the goods. „For Children’s Happiness“ (Da se deca raduju) – First part Date: December 16th 2011. Place: ,,LURKO HAZ,, HAJDUKOVO Description: Every year Rotaract Club of Subotica gives Christmas presents for foste children in Subotica. This year we prepared 100 packages for children in Lurko Haz. The financial support for this project came from our previous activity during the Harvest Festival in September (face-painting). We bought toys, school accessories, etc. and put them into tha packages together with the sweets and chocolate collected at the “Sweet Party”.

According to the list of householdes we were given by the local Center of Social Work, we search for the addresses, find the families in need and give them these donations by wishing them Merry Christmas. There people don’t know about our project, they don’t expect us, and they usually they are very surprised and thankfull.

Managing Our Emotions Date: February 10th, 2012 Place: Hotel Glorija, Subotica Description:A workshop on Managing Our Emotions was held instead of our weekly meeting. The goal of the workshop was to get familiar with basic psychological techniques for managing our emotions and to get to know each other better and develop group cohesion, necessary for achieving goals and doing successful work. Place Zrenjanin Date 16.12.2011. " Sweet party ". The first winter humanitarian action was carried out in the club Mistique, which was one of the associates in organizing this event. Entrance to the party was a candy or 50.00 RSD. 5 kg of sweets were collected as well as 7200.00 RSD, and it was estimated that the party was visited by about 250 people. Money raised was used to buy more sweets, and the presents were given to the children on the 31st of December. The event was followed by the local media. Place Zrenjanin Date 28,29,30,31.12.2011, 05.01, 06.01.2012. „Christmas stand “ The activity was carried out on the city's main street and it was the third winter activity of the Rotaract Club of Zrenjanin. During this time Club members were selling mulled wine, tea and hot chocolate. This event was supported by City of Zrenjanin, Gomex supermarket, Melkoprodukt milk factory, Wine club of Zrenjanin, Dr. Oetker, Rotary Club of Zrenjanin, Inner Wheel, as well as Rotary Club of Arosa, Switzerland. Our stand was visited by the mayor of Zrenjanin dr Mileta Mihajlov. We managed to collect 38000.00 RSD. All the local media reported about the event.

Place School for children with disabilities in Veternik. Date 28.12. 2011 “ Robin Hood and The Wicked Witch Goal: Bring joy, happiness and laughter to children during the winter holidays
We hope to do this again in the future, for it was truly a blessing helping those in need.
“After Rotaract’s very successful humanitarian party during which candy was collected for children with disabilities, and children in need of such simple goods, the members of Rotaract Novi Sad decided to write, direct and star in a play designed for all those in need of a little love and hope. The story featured Robin Hood and his best friend, Little John, trying to save a princess who was kidnapped by The Evil Wicked Witch. The Witch tried to sabotage Santa Claus and take away all the presents intended for kids all around the world. This time she tried to lure Robin Hood by kidnapping the princess and locking them all up so they couldn’t help Santa deliver all the presents. As always, good triumphs over evil, and Robin Hood, with the help of his friends, saves the day by driving away The Wicked Witch. The play was a success, where not only did the kids, but everyone that was involved in the play, enjoyed these festive moments. It was a very successful and rewarding action in which we all learned something and had a very pleasant time. 1

1st December Traditional shares 1st December this year was conducted by t he Rot ar ac t Club Novi Sad . I n t e r n a t i o n a l A I D S Day 1st December indicates how dangerous this disease is and how to fight it in our society. Rotaract Club has once again taken part in this international event, and conducted his campaign in Novi Sad by the condoms distributed in the cafes, in order to become aware and closer to young people how important the protection and caution. The action was very successfully carried out, participated in the action café Orpheus, café Henmingvej, café Vrt and club Museum. Also, condoms are distributed at the MedicalFaculty in Novi Sad
One of the permanent activities of Rotaract Novi Sad is helping children with social problems or without parents by supporting them with New Year’s presents. Sweet party, organized every year, is where we invite our friends, including other rotaractors, and collect all kinds of sweets, which are then used for making New Year’s packages. This year we have managed to make 160 of it and put a smile on every child in elementary school “Bratstvo” in Becej. In addition, we performed performed a small show for them that were followed by theirs recitals and we all had a great time together.

On December 17th, at the markets “Detelinarska Pijaca” in Novi Sad, Rotaract Club Novi Sad organized more than successful project called “Cold day at the Marketplace”.The project consisted of donating a hot tee to the people who work at the marketplace.This project was our way to show that we know how to help our community even with a small thing like this.

Place Novi Sad Time 29.12.2011 “ CHRISTMAS PRESENTS FOR CHILDREN WITH CANCER “ Rotaractors from our Club paid a visit to hospital for sick children in Novi Sad to give Christmas presents, donated by RTC Novi Sad, to kids sick with cancer. Together with former staff member of hospital’s hematology department we surprised the kids with the presents. All of the kids that were there at the moment received the presents with a smile on their faces. We are proud we made them happy for at least a one day.

“Collecting clothes“ Date: Febrary, 2012. Place: Novi Sad Goal: Collecting warm clothing for the homeless As the year came the sudden cold weather, the Rotaract club Novi Sad came up with the idea to conduct a campaign of collecting warm clothing for the homeless. Each team member has contributed in order to collect as much of the amount of clothing. It is because of emergency situation action is implemented in the short term and clothing was taken away in a shelter in Novi Sad and thus successfully implemented.
“ Laser tag “ Date: February, 2012. Place: Novi Sad Goal: Team building Our club had a little team building activity on Saturday in form of very exciting game, Laser Tag. We were split into 3 teams, and played this nonviolent stimulation of video game such as Counter Strike. The game was really fun, and beside a wonderful opportunity to further strengthen our bond as a club, it was also a great work out. We highly recommend Laser Tag to everyone who wants to have a genuine good time.

GOAL: ORGANIZE A FUN AFTERNOON FOR THE KIDS
Activity plan was as follow: - Supply of material needed to carry out activity: supplies for art, clay, wooden knives, bowls, etc.. - Carry out the activity with the help of artist and professor Zlatko Davidovic. Ten members of our club and more than twenty kids from the school had a very fun and instructive afternoon. With the idea of promotion the inclusion and achieving new friendships, we managed to entice smile on their face, good humor and an unforgettable afternoon. We have secured 40 tickets for children's choir concert "Magic" at the Belgrade Arena. At the concert we had children from the house for abandoned children "Drinka Pavlovic" and children suffering from malignant disease during treatment were placed in his parents' home. Children's joy on their faces once again proved that such actions make sense, and we will try to entice a child in the future smiles. Collected packets are sent to a Center for housing and Daycare for children and youth with disabilities at Svetozar Markovic str.85a. Children's smiles are meant more to us than any words. REM – Rotaract European Meeting
JANUARY Newsletter Date Volume 1, Issue 1
Our club participated at REM (Rotaract European Meeting) held in Turin from 26 to 29 January 2012. Four of our members (Igor Mijatovic, Nikola Stojadinovic, Nikola Stojanovic, Milos Dosen) were part of a large Rotaract family which numbered over 700 participants. We participated in all the activities that were organized, socialized with Rotaractors from other countries and try to represent our club and our country at the best way. During the gala dinner, we opened three bottles of rakia (plum brandy) and invite other participants to join us in tasting our traditional drinks. Despite the fact that organization was not at the highest level, we have a great time and made new friendships. The idea of this visit was to familiarize with the interior of the building, the history of the building, as well as deputies, and visually participate in the parliamentary session, which itself was very interesting. These are the newly opened shelter at Batajnica road and there are dogs in fenced farm areas PIK "Zemun". Despite the low temperatures, we enjoyed the game with wonderful puppies from shelters. Help for the Center for Homeless Adults
GOAL: DONATING WARM CLOTHING TO THE CENTER FOR HOMELESS ADULTS

Place: Center for Homeless Adults, 127 Kumodraska Street, Belgrade During the month of February our country was faced with the extreme weather conditions, followed by heavy snowfall and icy temperatures. Even the state of emergency was declared. Having in mind that many were endangered, we decided to realize three projects under the name ’Helping at the Minus’, all with the same purpose- to help those at risk of freezing. This particular project was conceived in order to help people who suffered the most- the homeless. Temperatures under the -20 degrees put them in need for shelter and warming up. For that purpose, we collected large quantity of warm clothes, blankets and sheets. Despite the freezing weather conditions, couple of members of our club (Ljubica Kubura, Diana Paunović, Igor Mijatović, Basta Goran and Miloš Vasiljević) visited the Center for Homeless Adults and delivered the donation. It talks about lonely people who want to build their own lives and survive.This was a great opportunity for us to explore and learn many social things from this theatrical performance. Mr. Naor held a presentation and a fruitful discussions, after which extending his appreciation to the Club members afterwards and giving thanks for the invitation, hoping for future similar events. DECEMBER Newsletter Date Volume 1, Issue 1 Rac Beograd Cukarica for the children of the foster hause « Jovan Jovanovic Zmaj” Belgrade Place Foster hause “ Jovan Jovanovic Zmaj” Belgrade Activities which members of the RAC Belgrade Cukarica did the foster home “ Jovan Jovanovic Zmaj ” in Belgrade took place three days, each of them had a specific theme. Topic of the first day was drawing workshop. With the children work on their creative abilities expressed primarily through watercolor drawing, making collages, drawing, graphite, etc.. with the aim of encouraging children to creative expression through visual art. Club members were working with children who were professionally engaged in these issues, so that in addition to socializing children certainly had the opportunity to learn something from them. The second day was the subject of music workshops that are led by club members who work as professors of music and music through a deal with the cultural and artistic activities of the society. The third day was dedicated to retrospekvitu past two days as well as showing their work and learning. So are all present, as members of the RAC and children had little opportunity to see works of art in the form of pictures or to hear a few song sing by little choir. The action and cooperation with the administration of the House and with the children was exceptional, which opened new opportunities for cooperation and mentioned our Club and foster hause „Jovan Jovanovic Zmaj“ in a future period. Goal: to familiarize children with the arts drawing and painting , basics of music as a whole and notnog system to form a small choir to song together a sing awaken in them a desire for this type of activities

National treasure National treasure chest continued its journey through Serbia and arrived to the capital. This time the host was Rotaract club "Belgrade Sava", which gave our club "Nis-Naissus" the warm welcome. With some small talk inside the lovely atmosphere of the restaurant new friendships were made. Time 22.12.20121 .In order to celebrate our Club’s fifth birthday, on December 22nd 2011. members of the Rotaract Club "Nis Constantine the Great", with the support of our Sponsor Club, continued with the annual campaign "For the first smile" in local Maternity hospital. We donated 50 packets to the youngest citizens of Nis who were present at the clinic that day, as well as letters to their mothers written by psychologist Jelena Vlajkovic . This way we both symbolically honored our anniversary and made New Year holidays merrier to the young mothers.

After the show, club members donated a Christmas tree, decorated it together with children and donated 50 fruit basket gifts to children hospitalized at Internal and Surgery Clinics .

200TH Club Meeting GOAL: CELEBRATION On our journey to helping people, changing the values’ system of modern society, making our community a better place as well as making ourselves better people and friends, RTC “Nis – Constantine the Great” reached the milestone 200. It was a great cause to organize a celebration together with our friends from Rotaract Clubs Nis, Naissus, Prokuplje and Pirot. On this occasion RTC Prokuplje passed the National treasure chest on to RTC Naissus. Since it was close to the New Year’s Eve, we all decided to unify the events into one great party. We all had a great time that lasted till the early morning hours. Our President Milan Mladenovic took the opportunity to commend some of our members for being most active and helpful in running the Club: Jovana Perovic, Marija Perovic, Milena Balovic, Misa Petkovic and Stefan Mrsic.

Meeting the New Year, 5 Rotary Clubs from Nis donated 20 Christmas Trees to 20 kindergartens in Nis. Members of Rotaract Club "Nis Constantine the Great" visited 4 kindergartens together with the children decorated a Christmas tree. Smiles, joy and little children’s play made a cold winter morning very cheerful.

ROTARACT CLUB NISCONSTANTINE THE GREAT JANUARY 30th
Professional development lecture – “Types of personality and A.I.D.A. method of sale” RTC “Nis – Constantine the Great” in the normal course of 203rd meeting had guest -lecturer Nikola Pejovic, coming President of Rotary Club “Nis – Center” and Regional Director for Corporate business at Erste Bank. This time we hosted over 40 dear friends from Rotaract clubs Niš, Naissus and Prokuplje. Since previously announced speaker Boban Mancev was unable, for justified reasons, to give the presentation, it turned out that this project has another good side and it is the possibility to rotate lectures. We would like to take this opportunity to once again thank Nikola, who after Boban’s withdrawal, in the spirit of a true Rotarian, immediately accepted and confirmed his arrival. Mr. Pejovic held a lecture titled: Personality types and A.I.D.A. method of sale, and we are especially pleased that, even though the lectures was planned to last a hour, we had the opportunity to enjoy a phenomenal lecture and discussion that lasted two hours. We hope that other, future lecturers will follow this example of "selfless service" and as Mr. Pejovic give their best to share their professional experience with all members of Rotaract and Rotary family. We thank all our guests for visiting us, and in the spirit of Rotary we share with you a part of the atmosphere from our meeting as well as Nikola's presentation and impressions.

ROTARACT CLUB NISCONSTANTINE THE GREAT
RTC “Nis – Constantine the Great”, in cooperation with other Rotaract Clubs from Nis, initiated for the first time in our city series of lectures on professional development.
During regular Club meetings, every month Clubs will rotate organization of lectures, with other Clubs as guests. Themes of lectures will be useful to all members, regardless of their profession. First lecture will be held by Nikola Pejovic – member of Rotary Club “Nis – Center”. He works as Regional director for corporate business at Erste Bank. Theme of the lecture: “Types of personality and A.I.D.A. method of sale”. It is important to underline that the lecturers will be members of Rotary Clubs. Apart from the obvious gain for all members who attend the lectures and learn something new and useful, this project has a secondary goal: to increase cooperation between members of Rotary and Rotaract Clubs and their mutual acquaintance; to increase cooperation between Rotaract Clubs (coordination of lecturers and organization of common meetings); members of Rotaract Clubs will, once a month, have meetings outside of their regular meeting offices.

SALES TECHINQUES The little workshop that I had the pleasure of doing this Monday was really quite a thrill for me, reminding me just how much power and enthusiasm lies within our rotaract friends, reminding me once again what it felt like to be a rotaractor (which wasn't so long ago, to be honest, just a few years now). I was thrilled to be invited by RAC Nis and Constantine the Great to do the lecture/workshop about something that I consider myself to be rather good at....SALES. The point of the whole lecture was to do few things. First of all, it was essential to make these young people understand that sales are nothing that one should be ashamed of. It is true that due to various factors, sales people and sales in general have been quite negatively profiled in this country (something like Rotary, to be sincere), but it doesn't actually mean that it is something bad. It is unfortunately common view that sales man has to do what in games theory is being called a "game with zero sum". In this theory ones gain depends only on loss of another. If you put it that way, then it's true, sales people are wicked and want to sell you something that you did not want in the first place. But, real sales have got nothing to do with that. Okay, it is true that sometimes even those things happen, but the lecture was completely opposite from it. In fact, the point of good sales lies in a fact that you can not sell something that people DO NOT WANT !!! ner, or the encyclopedia that your mom was telling you about :)))
Therefore, it is essential to find the people that actually do care about your products/services/ whatever it is that you are selling. One more thing that I tried to point out is that in order to make good sales, you have to understand the needs of people. And in order to do that, you should ask them what they need....but guess what...they wont tell you... because they don't trust you, and they think that you are just one of those wicked sales people that wants to sell them something they don't really need (for example Kirby vacuum clea For that reason, it is essential to gain their trust. And the workshop was about all those small things that make them change their minds and shift into more favorable one, both for you and your product/service. Because, there is the expression that says: "you will never get a second chance to make a first impression", we were trying to understand what it is that leaves a good first impression. Further more, we focused on how to draw clients attention, how to make him become interested in what you have to offer. Afterwards, we would move into an area where we would do our best to make the client have the desire for what we have to offer, upon which the real final action would follow, and that is, of course the sale itself. Although it sounds easy, it isn't, not at all, give it a try, and you will see :)

So we discussed the whole process of Attention - Interest Desire - Action, which among sales people is often called AIDA sales technique. I was trying to fill this theoretical lecture with as many practical examples as possible, and I had quite a few during my business career, since I have been in sales for quite a long time. Actually, among other things I also work as a freelance trainer for companies, so these trainings aren't exactly new to me. And what I always try to emphasize is the fact that EVERYTHING IS SALES. For that purpose with all those things that I have showed, I also tried to make a parallel how it can be implemented into everyday life situations. I concentrated on girls-boys relationship, and tried to show that when you go on a date with a girl/guy, you are actually selling yourself, your image, your "brand"....
I personally believe that these bright young people understood what I had to say. What is even better, some of them were having examples of their own, making this workshop a "two way street" which is the real point of this whole action. Of course, all of this with loads of humor laughs etc. Just the perfect way to start the week (since I did it on Monday). I once again thank the RAC-ors for having me, and as it happens when people get carried away, instead of 45 minutes, the workshop lasted for almost 2 hours. Hopefully it wasn't a waste of time. I know it wasn't for me.

ROTARACT CLUB NISCONSTANTINE THE GREAT Visit to Rotary International day at UN Convention
Once again, the Rotary Day at United Nations had a lot to offer to over 1400 Rotarians from around the world that came for the weekend. It was especially helpful to younger population because it showed how to deal with some problems, proposed some solutions, and generated many ideas for developmental improvement of this world. Everyone gathered by 9 am in one of the conference rooms at United Nations headquarters in New York City. The program was organized into different sections: Opening panel, health panel, water panel, am closing panel, RI representatives’ panel, youth panel, and literacy panel. The discussions were led by RI representatives at UN but the main word had interesting speakers from different areas of expertise. Mr. Sakuji Tanaka, RI President-elect started the day welcoming Rotarians and pointing out to the main problems in the society. He then introduced others to show some ongoing projects across the globe. Some of the experts on the stage were: Timothy E. Wirth – President of the United Nations Foundation and Better World Fund Dr. Jacob Kumaresan – Executive Director of the World Health Organization Dr. Zulfiqar A. Bhutta – Professor at Aga Khan University Andrew Trevett – Senior Advisor, Water, Sanitation and Hygiene Section, UNICEF John Hewko – RI General Secretary William B. There were many other professors and Rotaractors who showed the initiative on some global projects. To summarize all of the discussions, Rotary International has 3400 clubs around the world with over 1.2 million Rotarians. The most successful and sustainable service they do falls within one of the following six areas: · Peace and conflict prevention/ resolution · Disease prevention and treatment · Water and sanitation · Maternal and child health · Basic education and literacy · Economic and community development PEACE AND CONFLICT RESOLUTION 6000 civilians are maimed or killed by land mines each year 42 million people are currently displaced by armed conflict or persecution 90% of casualties in armed conflicts are civilians, at least half are children 300000 child soldiers (boys and girls under 18) are believed to be involved in conflicts around the world Some of the ideas how to help are to offer support to marginalized groups, help children who have been orphaned, injured, or traumatized by conflict, provide relief to refugees, participate in fellowship and service activities, recruit candidates for a Rotary Peace Fellowship, and address underlying causes of conflict like disease, illiteracy, hunger, and poverty.
The Rotarians can prevent this by improving sanitation facilities, promote good hygiene habits, implement rainwater harvesting, and promote low-cost solutions such as chlorine tablets to improve water, provide point of use home water filters, or build water wells.
DISEASE PREVENTION AND TREATMENT 1 billion people suffer from neglected tropical disease such as dengue fever and leprosy each year 1 in 6 people worldwide cannot pay for healthcare 100 million people are pushed into poverty each year because of medical costs 4.3 million doctors, nurses, midwives, and other skilled caregivers are needed worldwide 57 countries have fewer than 23 health workers for every 10000 people Some tips on how to fight against this problem are to support health education programs, carry out immunizations, improve and expand access to low-cost and free health care in underserved areas, and sponsor continuing education and training. WATER AND SANITATION − 2.6 billion People lack access to adequate sanitation facilities − 6000 children die each day from diarrheal caused by lack of sanitation and unsafe water − 884 million people don’t have clean drinking water − 6 hours per day is spent by women in some rural parts of Africa collecting water from a remote source

MATERNAL AND CHILD HEALTH − 9million children under the age of five die each year due to malnutrition, poor health care, and inadequate sanitation − 40% of women in developing countries do not use contraception − 53 million unintended pregnancies could be prevented through family planning − 1 in 22 women will die during pregnancy and childbirth in Africa − 80% of maternal deaths could be prevented with access to reproductive health services and trained health care workers In this area, Rotarians can provide immunizations and antibiotics, promote good nutrition, prevent mother-to-infant HIV transmission, provide access to family planning, provide birthing kits, or support accredited training programs for health professionals.
BASIC EDUCATION AND LITERACY − 31% of secondary school teachers in low-income countries are not professionally trained − 75 million children worldwide - 41 million of them girls - have no access to education − 677 million people over age of 15are illiterate
Some solutions can be seen in providing teacher training, sending a vocational training team, developing adult literacy programs, serving as mentors, volunteering in classroom, supporting concentrated language encounter, and promoting student enrollment.
ECONOMIC AND COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT − 1.4 billion people - nearly half of them employed – live on less then US $1.25 a day − 190 million people have accessed microcredit funds Rotarians can partner with local microfinance institutions, provide equipment or supplies, expand vocational training, or send a vocational training team to teach business leaders how to maintain accurate financial accounting. Also, they can promote the development of mobile banking resources. Rotary International reminded us again this year of the Millennium Development Goals:

After the long day of talking, all the Rotaractors went to a cocktail party held at the nearby bar. All the profit from entry tickets will be used for donations and charities. The unofficial and more relaxed part at the bar was even more interesting. We finally had a chance to meet each other, chat, share ideas and experiences. This was the best opportunity for getting and establishing most of the contacts. It was great to hear stories from clubs from Washington DC, Boston, New York, Philadelphia, and even couple of clubs from Canada. I also saw again Rotaractors that I met before and after the cocktail party, we headed to enjoy the beauty of New York City and Manhattan. To conclude the story, the trip was again enormous experience for me and the club. I saw a lot of new things and found out some ways to be more creative. GOAL: NATIONAL TREASURE SAVING
.Rotaract Club Prokuplje joined the national project "National treasure", launched by Rotaract Club "NisConstantine the Greati". The presentation of all the details with which Rotaract Prokuplje participate in this project was held in our Club's premises, and we participated with a replica of the statue of Hercules, which dates from the first century, icon of St. Procopius, saint of the city and virtual presentation of cultural, historical and tourism potentials of Prokuplje. The coffin with the national treasure has been submitted to us by the Rotaract Club "Nis", and gathering was attended by over 30 people from four RTC Clubs. During the month of December coffin was transferred to the Rotaract Club "Nis-Naissus", while we attended the celebration of New Year and twohundredth meeting of the RTC "NisConstantine the Great".
