I was at the show last night and it was a great turnout. Today, I listened to the CD and was waiting for the “wow” factor. It never came for me. Although each song has a distinct sound, it still all sounds like something I’ve heard somewhere else—and not on Maui.

One last thought: I would have to say that Erin needs a vocal coach to help carry some key notes of certain areas of her music. They are rough, but with time and practice, who knows?

[ Coconut Wireless: The Week in Review ] HYPER LOCAL With the Makena Resort in foreclosure and Morgan Stanley and Everett Dowling’s high-end dreams in ruin, let’s hop in the time machine and take a trip back to Wailuku circa Friday, December 19, 2008. That’s the day (or night, actually) the County Council voted 5-3 to allow the project to move forward. Now, we could easily use the club of hindsight to bludgeon folks like Councilmember Mike Victorino who touted the economic stimulus the development would surely provide. But instead let’s praise the foresight of the three “nay” voters: current Councilmembers Danny Mateo and Jo Anne Johnson and former Councilmember Michelle Anderson. Johnson offered a particularly prescient quote at the ’08 meeting: “I hope we don’t reach the point that the financing won’t dry up, so the jobs we are promising disappear.” Sometimes it sucks to be right… It’s easy—and also fair—to use the Kealia Pond boardwalk as a metaphor for the migraine-inducing bureaucratic nonsense that permeates life on Maui. But really, more than a decade and close to $3 million later, we just want to be able to walk on the damn thing. That day is drawing near—if you believe the people behind the project (and I forgive you if you don’t). After a story titled “Opening of boardwalk stalled again” appeared in the August 29 Maui News, I called Kealia Pond Refuge Manager Glynnis Nakai to

find out about the latest fly in the ointment. She confirmed that tests are being conducted on the asphalt in the infamously balky parking lot to make sure it’s strong enough, but said plans are in place for a “soft opening” late this week or early next week. She couldn’t give me an exact date (maybe at the time you read these words, maybe not), and said a grand opening with attendant fanfare will be delayed while various issues are resolved, including replacing the 140-pound bronze sea turtle sculpture that was stolen in February 2008. Nakai said she “appreciate[s] people’s patience” but offered assurances that we’re “close to the end.” She did laugh when she said it, yet somehow (and this is to her credit) it didn’t sound like a bitter laugh… I got several frantic calls and e-mails about the impending closure of the Lahaina Library. So, if you don’t already know, here’s the deal: According to a release from the Hawaii State Public Library System, the Lahaina Library will indeed be closed from September 12-21 “due to staffing and funding shortages.” The release says the library is “scheduled to re-open” on September 22 and that in the meantime materials can be returned to any of the island’s other public libraries… As we cross our fingers for containment, we’d be remiss to not give a shout to the firefighters currently battling the blaze on Molokai that had, at press time, scorched close to 8,000 acres. It’s tough, important work, and we thank you for it… If you’ve ever parked—or even considered parking—in Wailuku, you know about Officer Keith Taguma.

and has handed out more than a few to Maui Time staffers over the years. But we’re not here to shoot the messenger (if you’ll pardon the unfortunate colloquialism). Rather we’re taking aim at the whole parking policy. Wailuku is not exactly a tourist haven; other than a few hostel dwellers, basically everyone in town works and/or lives here. So the people paying these fines are locals and the county is drawing from a shallow pot. That’s OK to a point, but when you take a closer look at the fines it’s clear they’re designed primarily to generate revenue and not to increase public safety. Exhibit A: The penalty for parking too long in the Wailuku municipal lot (again, full disclosure: it’s right behind the Maui Time office, so yes we’re biased as hell) is $60. Meanwhile, the fine for parking on the sidewalk, within 10’ of a fire hydrant or within an intersection is $35. That means if you stay 2 hours, 1 minute in a 2-hour space, you’ll be fined nearly twice as much as if you just left your car at the light at Market and Main like Michael Douglas in Falling Down. That is, quite simply, madness. Now if you’ll excuse me, I’ve got to move my car…

LOCAL Take our crippling reliance on imported goods, add the announcement that 50 agriculture inspectors will be laid off in the latest round of budget cuts and you’ve got a frightening equation.

Officials have said the choice may well come down to allowing food to rot on the dock or letting shipments pass through un-inspected, increasing the risk that dangerous invasive species

could, well, invade. It’s tempting to point the finger at Gov. Lingle (and you know how we love giving her the finger), but some blame also rests with the state labor unions, who represent the other half of this dysfunctional dance. Money is tight; revenue is down. We get it. But there’s got to be a compromise that doesn’t involve undermining public safety and endangering Hawaii’s fragile ecological balance… As the healthcare debate rages on, it’s maddening how few people are identifying the real villain: insurance companies. Their ubiquitous lobbying presence in Washington is the single biggest reason why reform will remain an elusive goal, doomed to failure or at best to a watered-down “solution.” With that in mind, it was nice to hear Rep. Neil Abercrombie at least use the right words in a recent interview with Lance Holter on Akaku.

Said Abercrombie: “It’s probably more accurate to call it a health insurance reform bill, because that’s really what we’re talking about here.” The problem, of course, is that’s not what we’re talking about, at least not enough…

Energy to spare Kula designer wants to put alternative power in your hands met Erik Beale, after trading e-mails for weeks, at an Upcountry soiree for renewable energy enthusiasts. Cars lined Baldwin Avenue just below the memorial cemetery and Makawao town. The midday sun beat down as visitors strolled up the driveway to see an array of electric cars, and tents shading display materials and handouts.

Erik has been working on prototypes for pre-fabricated structures designed to accommodate solar photovoltaic panels. He recently launched MauiEcoBuilt (mauiecobuilt.com), offering modular buildings that can serve as a workshop, art studio, home office, storage shed, exercise room or garage. Like many in attendance at the “Cutting the Red Tape on Renewable Energy” event, he has taken matters into his own hands, designing a renewable energy solution that can be immediately implemented.

Blue-shirted Carden Academy students piled into the Mama’s Fish House electric runabout vehicle, reminiscent of college kids cramming into VW Beetles years ago. After a polite reprimand from their teacher, they assembled to do a ceremonial cutting of red ribbon.

Behind them, a 30-foot tall Windspire turbine on a vertical axis spun forcefully in strong winds pushed in front of Tropical Storm Felicia. The recently installed, whisper quiet wind energy system was a primary reason for choosing the Banyan Tree House venue, one of many old plantation luna homes lining the curving roadway bearing the name of a century-ago sugar planter.

he outdoor gathering, organized by architect/entrepreneur Michael Angelo Leone of HIEV (Hawaii Electric Vehicles) also attracted those looking to invest in smart, green design. Matt Daniells, co-owner of Kaupakalua Road landmark Hanzawa Store in Haiku, said he’s looking for ways to retrofit—and to offset the $6,000 monthly electric bill needed to run refrigeration equipment, gas pumps and lights.

Daniells, like Beale a champion board sailor, looked up at the spinning Windspire and said, “It’s supposed to blow like this again tomor-

You could say that Beale has been accustomed to harnessing natural energy for a long time. Born in France, he was a competitive skateboarder, ranked 6th in Europe at age 13. But at age 15 he began windsurfing, and started racing six years later.

In 1986 at the Canary Islands, Beale set a windsurfing world record of 35 knots. Two years later, on the canals of Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer in South France, he shattered that record, gaining the outright sailing mark at 40.48 knots.

Beale studied at the London School of Industrial Design, which provided his best opportunity to combine interests in architecture, furniture and racecar design and ergonomics. He acquired skills that allowed him to help design the windsurfing speed craft that earned him the title of world’s fastest sailor.

After more than 20 years of custom home design, Beale is now turning his focus to modular kits and panel wall systems that are extremely efficient and can be constructed in as little as 2-3 days. His latest innovation is optimizing roof pitch and area to allow for solar PV panels on freestanding buildings, with a variety of applications and variations.

A week after the renewable energy gathering, I met him at his property on upper Omaopio Road, on the sunny lower slopes of Haleakala. A bright yellow one-room building glowed in the late afternoon sunshine. Twelve solar panels were mounted on one half of the roof, facing Maalaea Bay to the south. Beale grinned broadly as we walked over to the electric meter on his home next door.

“We tested it today for the first time, and it was amazing to see the meter spinning backwards,” he said.

He has already incorporated energy efficiency into his residence—with Energy Star rated appliances and lots of natural lighting—and requires a mere five kilowatt hours per day ($55 monthly). His new solar PV system generated 4.2 kwh in its first four hours of operation. Beale explained that net-metering customers may accrue more credits during summer months, when the sun’s higher position in the sky produces more electricity (output is averaged for the entire year).

Surprisingly, his 12’ by 16’ yellow building was built—legally—without a building permit. With 192 square feet of floor space, it’s just under the 200 sq. ft. limit that triggers a permit requirement. The building can’t be used for living space,

can’t have plumbing and the electricity generated by its solar panels may not be used by the building itself. Instead, it’s transmitted to the main dwelling.

Beale believes this design has great potential for an as-yet untapped market: an electric car “chargeport.” He even envisions businesses doing parking lot installations, catering to customers moving away from vehicles that operate on fossil fuel. olar panel prices are down right now, but that could change as demand increases, bolstered by favorable incentives. solar PV can benefit from federal and state tax credits of 50 and 30 percent, respectively. Further, they are eligible to amortize half of the depreciation in the first year.

As a builder, Beale understands that not all existing roofs are adapted for solar panel installations, especially those that are older, tiled or have unfavorable pitch angles. His designs, with metal roofing made here in Hawaii, work well with the extruded aluminum rack mounts for the panels. As we sat in his kitchen, overlooking the Central Valley and West Maui Mountains, he showed me a just-sketched design with overhanging roof mounts that could accommodate up to 70 panels.

TEMPTING FAITH Chicago banker George Michael, seeking to avoid $80,000 a year in property taxes, decided to call his $3 million mansion a “church” and apply for tax exemption as pastor. For art’s sake Saving arts education on Maui, grassroots style arren Sarno and Noah Brittain, founders and owners of A Makebelieve Company (AMBC), are on a mission to bring arts and music education back into Maui County’s public schools. With many local elementary schools nixing arts programs due to funding woes, the grassroots initiative “Save the Arts” aims to put volunteers from the island’s talented pool of musicians, painters, sculptors and culinary artists into classrooms to interact with keiki and share their creative mana‘o.

AMBC has made waves in the local fashion scene, hosting a series of line launches and release parties with their locally designed, printed and distributed apparel for both men and women.

Sarno, a friend of Brittain from their work in the service industry, encouraged the development of Brittain’s artwork and the AMBC line, which had been brewing for years. “I knew he had

a really good concept,” says Sarno. “I saw it and I really believed in it.” Sarno joined forces with Brittain and AMBC was officially born.

the Blue is designed to raise awareness and serve as a call to other artists in the community.

After speaking with principals and a slew of educators, Sarno estimates that 90 percent of schools have done away with their arts programs. Discovering how widespread the issue is inspired him to expand the scope of the benefit to include all schools.

Their plan is to reach out to three to five schools monthly, with two to three volunteers at each school. Long term, they’re working to acquire non-profit status and to get programs permanently reinstated.

Though the program is still in the early stages, this kick-off benefit party is bringing in the big guns with headliner The Willie K Band, The Celtic Tigers with special guest Erin Smith, Gail Swanson and the last public appearance on Maui by A Kettle Prime.

A portion of the ticket sale proceeds ($15 advance, $20 a the door) will benefit the program—to buy supplies for the classrooms and gas for the volunteers—and 100

percent of profits from sales of the event Tshirts ($15) are also dedicated to the fund (and the first 50 guests through the door get the event shirt for free).

AMBC will also have an onsite merchandise stand, with $2 from every shirt sold to be channeled back into the program to keep it going. MTW

Eat the system Food industry exposé persuades without preachiness ric Schlosser’s bestselling, non-fiction exposé, Fast Food Nation, opened the doors of cattle slaughterhouses and exposed the abuses heaped on workers at meat processing plants—and anyone who bites into a “value meal.” Tough as it sometimes was, the book is a terrific read and an eye-opener. A film adaptation was released in 2006 that was unloved and little seen. I liked the film, despite its lack of a focused story, but many felt that Schlosser’s book would have been better made as a documentary. Well, here you go.

This polished, always interesting doc—which Schlosser produced and narrates—dissects where your food really comes from, shows why corn is taking over our diets, provides bloody gazes at how factory farm animals are treated—and still somehow leaves you cautiously hopeful that your next meal will be healthier than your last.

In complete honesty, I’ve never been very sympathetic to chickens, a

particularly stupid bird, and have always found those “PETA: People Eating Tasty Animals” T-shirts to be hilarious. That changed after I saw this movie—visions of chicken death camps and the sounds of their screams before getting decapitated are disturbing, as is the bizarre notion that chickens are fattened up so their

If you’re already a member of PETA and a vegan who buys only organic food, this film will have a preaching-to-the-choir effect. But even those who pay the occasional visit to the drive-thru and crave a juicy steak will find this entertaining and

illuminating without feeling they’ve been hit over the head with a carrot.

Schlosser narrates with a directness that is approachable and relatable instead of smug or self-righteous. He also provides a recognizably human contradiction: despite the film’s frequent declaration of the dangers of beef, we see Schlosser hungrily gulp down a burger, which he says has always been his favorite food. Here’s another contradiction: I loved Schlosser’s book, which is set in Colorado, where I currently am as I write this review; with one hand, I’m typing, while, with my other hand, I’m eating a Spam musubi I got from the L and L’s Hawaiian Barbecue up the street.

I think Schlosser would agree with my mother-in-law’s motto: everything in moderation. It’s rare to find a documentary that, for the most part, plays fair with both sides and even goes so far to point out how Wal-Mart is (sort of) part of the solution.

Closing word of advice: eat before you watch the film or, like me, you’ll be looking at your tub of popcorn with horror. MTW

After a blind date with cable news cameraman Steve (Bradley Cooper), she’s love-struck to the point of obsession. Egged on by TV reporter Hartman Hughes (Thomas Haden Church), Mary proceeds to stalks Steve as he travels the country.

Her opihi-style prowling lands her in news storyrelated danger, and both Hartman and Hughes feel guilty. Lessons are learned. Friends are made. Happy ending. 98 min.

EXTRACT - R - Comedy - Whell, alright then!

Written and directed by Mike Judge. Need I say more? I will, because it’s worthy. Joel (Jason Bateman. Heh heh. Bateman. Heh. Master Bateman. Heh heh) is the owner of a thriving flavor extract company, earning him the title “Extract King.” His small business success isn’t enough to quell the sexual frustrations he has with his wife Suzie (Kristen Wiig), so upon the recommendation of scheming pal Dean (Ben Affleck), he embarks on a plan to hire a gigolo (guised as the classic pool boy) to seduce Suzie-leaving him open to the guilt-free pursuit of his new, big-boobied employee Cindy (Mila Kunis).

Con-artist Cindy, on the verge of parole revocation, has little interest in Joel, and instead has sights her set on convincing fellow employee Step (Clifton Collins, Jr.) to sue Joel for millions (and cash in herself) after Step looses one of his family jewels in a factory accident. 91 min.

GAMER - R - Sci-Fi - Think Death Race (2008) meets eXistenZ (1999), with a dash of Ludacris and Leguizamo. The year is 2034, and mind-control technology is all the rage. The latest controversial installment, “Slayer”--a FPS game created by evil billionaire recluse, Ken Castle (Michael C. Hall)-uses human prisoners as avatars in massive death matches controlled by online gamers. Kable (Gerald Butler), forcibly imprisoned and made to fight against his will, has achieved hero status by surviving 27 games while controlled by young hotshot, Simon (Logan Lerman). If Kable survives 30 games, he wins his freedom. Hmm... Think he’ll take the revenge-less route or rage against the machine? 95 min.

THE HURT LOCKER - R - Drama - Staff Sergeant Will James (Jeremy Renner) steps in as the new tech team leader of the elite Bravo Company bomb disposal unit in Baghdad, after their former leader is killed by a remote-detonated improvised explosive device (IED). James clashes with subordinates Sergeant JT Sanborn (Anthony Mackie) and Specialist Owen Eldridge (Brian Geraghty), who consider his thrill-seeking, relentless focus on disarmament a reckless endangerment to the team and innocent civilians. 131 min.

Now Showing (500) DAYS OF SUMMER - PG13 - Romance - The lovey-dovey story of hip indie boy meets hip indie girl. Said boy (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) is a pie-in-the-sky romantic who endlessly courts said girl (Zooey Deschanel), who doesn’t share his fireworks idea of amore. 95 min.

THE COVE - PG13 - Documentary - “Ecoactivist documentaries don't get much more compelling than ‘The Cove,’” raves Variety.

Winner of the Audience Award at the 2009 Maui Film Festival (among a slew of other prestigious accolades), this Jim Clark production follows remorseful former dolphin trainer Richard O'Barry on his sometimes-clandestine mission to end Japan’s killing of dolphins. 92 min.

DISTRICT 9 - R - Sci-Fi - Aliens abandon two million of their ill-tempered “prawns” in Johannesburg, South Africa, and humans quickly resign them to a reservation of sorts. The leaderless extraterrestrial hive sees fast deterioration to

slum-like conditions, and a buffoon bureaucrat earthling (Sharlto Copley) attempts to rectify the situation by making them move camp. Who knew South African writer/director Neill Blomkamp (in his directorial debut) could offer such entertainting commentary on apartheid by way of space aliens? 102 min.

FINAL DESTINATION 4 - R- Horror - Nick O’Bannon (Bobby Campo) has a bloody premonition that he and his friends will die in a horrible accident at the racetrack. He acts on intuition, convincing his honey bunny and friends to come with him, and they do indeed skirt death. However, happily-ever-after it is not. All bound to a fate six feet under, the homies he saved kick the bucket one by one, and O’Bannon struggles, knowing he’s next. 96 min.

G-FORCE - G - Animation - Zack Galifiankis and Will Arnett are among the cast members supplying voices to a squad of guinea pigs who have been sent on a mission to stop an evil billionaire from taking over the world. 86 min. JOE: THE RISE OF COBRA - PG13 - Action - A super-elite team of international military operatives battle the evildoer organization Cobra, with high tech weapons the likes of which you probably never dreamed of while playing with your Hasbro toys in the sandbox. THE GOODS - R - Comedy - Shady car salesman extraordinaire Don Ready (Jeremy Piven) is asked to save a doomed dealership by selling every vehicle on the lot in a single weekend. With his team of even shadier accomplices, Ready attempts to save the day while squeezing in an abundance of drinking and strip clubs along the way. Ready even manages to find his soul mate and fall in love. Directed by Neal Brennan (co-creator of ‘Chappelle’s Show’). 89 min.

HALLOWEEN 2 - R- Horror - Michael Meyer’s (Tyler Mane) little sister Laurie (Scout Taylor-Compton) just never gets a break. The movie picks up where the last one left off: at the Haddonfield General Hospital, where a bloodbath ensues as Michael slaughters everyone in his path while in pursuit of Laurie. I may make mention that Laurie was hospitalized in the first place having just immediately survived another massacre of Michael’s doing. Fast forward to the anniversary of the killings, and haunted Laurie is again visited by her big bro. 101 min.

HARRY POTTER AND THE HALF-BLOOD PRINCE - PG - Fantasy - This is the one where he dies. Just kidding. Now in his sixth year at Hogwart’s, Potter begins learning some dark secrets about one of his mentors. 133 min. [KB] INGLOURIOUS BASTERDS - R- Drama - True to his cinema lust style, director Quentin Tarantino brings us a WWII flick that’s all multi-genre infused fantasy—but supposedly even enjoyable for the die-hard historian, despite creative-license inaccuracies. Brad Pitt plays Lt. Aldo Raine, leader of “The Basterds,” a guerilla group who revengefully scalp Nazi’s in an effort to strike fear into the hearts of the Third Reich. 149 min.

JULIE & JULIA - PG13 - Comedy - Writer/director Nora Ephron intertwines the lives of famed TV chef Julia Child (Meryl Streep) and at-wits-end New York professional Julie Powell (Amy Adams), in a two-scoop adaptation of their respective best-selling memoirs. Things get tastily tricky when Powell, on the eve of her 30th birthday, embarks on a mission to tackle all 524 recipes in Child’s ‘Mastering the Art of French Cooking.’ 123 min.

PONYO - G - Animation - Think anime-styled ‘Pinocchio’ meets ‘The Little Mermaid’, by Japanese writer/director Hayao Miyazaki. A goldfish who longs to be a little girl sneaks away from her father (a pollutionbattling wizard of the deep). When she finds the shore, she’s instantly smitten with a boy named Sosuke, and turns herself into the girl she’s always wanted to be— using a drop of the boy’s blood and some internal goldfish magic. No Disney animated flick would be complete without a huge Hollywood voiceover cast ranging from Tina Fey to the Jonas Brothers. 101 min.

SHORTS - PG - Family - A rainbow colored rock hurdles from the heavens, hitting 11-year-old Toe Thompson (Jimmy Bennett) in the noggin and subsequently rocks his world. The Black Falls suburb he lives in is obsessed with a do-it-all device called the BLACK BOX, but Thompson’s magical rock does just as much, plus grants wishes. As would happen when a little boy has at his disposal a wish-granting implement, the town is overrun with gargantuan boogers and alligator armies—which isn’t quite so bad as when the adults catch wind and covet the rock for their own. 89 min.

TAKING WOODSTOCK - R - Comedy - Director Ang Lee again mixes it up, this time telling the tale of Elliot Tiber (Demetri Martin) who—in an effort to save his family’s motel business—invites a high-profile concert into his backyard after promoters lose their permit in a neighboring town. The result: lots of mud, a little granola, grossly inadequate restroom facilities and one of the world’s most historic concert events that defined a generation. 121 min.

THE TIME TRAVELER’S WIFE - PG13 - Romance Seemingly devised especially for geeky girls like me, the plot circles around a debonair Chicago librarian (Eric Bana) who is cursed/blessed with a gene causing spontaneous, involuntary time travel. Trouble aside, he remains hopelessly dedicated to and in love with his timeline-bound wife (Michelle Nolden), throughout all their longing battles through time and space. 108 min.

THIS WEEK’S PICKS You will receive total consciousness

Thursday (Sept. 3), 10am & 6pm and Friday (Sept. 4), 6:30pm at Maui Tibetan Buddhist Dharma Center Only a few oracle spirits remain, of the hundreds believed to have once existed, according to Tibetan Tradition. Conduits between the natural and spiritual realms, the mediums known as kuten—literally translated as “the physical basis”—are the men and women whose bodies have been entered by the oracle spirit, with their most important function being the protection of the Buddha Dharma and its practitioners (among healing and foretelling the future). Given the rank of a deputy minister in the exiled Tibetan government, the principal protector divinity—considered the manifestation of Dorje Drak-den (Nechung)—is the Nechung Kuten, the State Oracle of Tibet. Ordained as a monk in 1970 at the Nechung Dorje Drayang Ling Monastery in Dharmasala, Northern India as a boy of twelve, the Venerable Thupten Ngodrup was fully recognized as the Nechung Kuten by the Dalai Lama himself on September 4, 1987, and will preside over three events on Maui. First he will be a guest at a Medicine Buddha prayer service (Thursday, 10am), and later will present at a dharma talk and Vajrakiaya blessing by the Great Paia Lha Bab Peace Stupa (Thursday, 6pm).

Finally, he will conduct “A Shower of Blessings” prayer service and guru yoga session (Friday, 6:30). Keeping with the theme, I’ll also remind Pick readers of the Maui Film Festival’s Candlelight Cinema Friday night screening of Unmistaken Child at 5:30 and 7pm (see Film Capsules & Show Times for more).

Myself a lover of the clandestine, I’m keen to keep secret a few of the surprises in store (the Ark, after all, is “not something to be taken lightly. No one knows its secrets,”)—but with Fuzzbox being as good as they are at creating cool themed shindigs, the TBA treats are sure to be more than memorable for those in attendance. Though, I will say that there’ll be video games, Ark giveaways and their popular popcorn potluck. Cockiness doesn’t suit you. An exuberant Aries or steel-tempered Scorpio can get away with it, but on a Virgo it just looks like you’re trying way too hard. Sorry, Virgo, but the bravado’s got to go. What you say is important to you is a whole lot different than what looks important to you, based on your actions. Much of what you do doesn’t seem to further your supposed higher agenda (and frequently runs counter to it). List the top seven things that matter to you. Be specific (don’t just say “my lover,” but perhaps “ adding to my lover’s happiness, wellbeing, and success”). Then make a list of exactly how you spend your time and energy. Do the lists align? For instance, if “getting laid frequently” is on your Top 7 list, “going to the gym” in most cases ought to be right up there on the “how you spend your time” list.

Growing up isn’t something that happens overnight when you hit 18, 30, or 50. It’s a gradual process, and one that’s hard to quantify. However, in general, every move you make away from selfishness and a desire to take (both childish qualities), and towards selflessness and a desire to give, is one that makes you more of a real adult. That’s not to say you should ever lose some of your best childlike qualities (like the ability to play), but your motivations for them could change; for instance, as a child getting people to play with you is a way to keep yourself entertained, but as an adult, you might play specifically to bring joy and pleasure to others. Your journey from child to grown-up is ongoing; however, this week you should experience a key opportunity to taking another big step in the right direction.
