EDITOR'S NOTE:
JUNE 2023 4
Iwas pet sitting at a friend's house in a gated community and headed to the pool. As a brown skinned native Hawaiian I've never felt more out of place or judged. The stares and whispers were immediate and I was even asked by a few of you while in the hot tub if I lived there or knew someone. It broke my heart to feel unwelcomed in my island home. I respectfully ask that you branch out of your small circle of tennis clubs, golf and HOA boards and experience a diffferent Maui and what it means to be a kama'āina.

these written resources gives “educators, parents and community members a safe space to start the conversation in a non-threatening, comfortable way,” O’Brien noted in her statement.
Local Nonprofit Encourages Keiki to Choose Aloha
The Jesse Lewis Choose Love Movement has found its way to Hawai‘i, where it has melded with the aloha spirit to manifest as Choose Aloha.
This character development program was inspired by Jesse Lewis, a 6-year-old boy who was killed in a school shooting. Since its inception, the initiative has worked to deliver an empowering message to local students about the harmful effects of bullying, and how to prevent it.
Lead by aloha ambassador Dawn O’Brien, the Choose Aloha program aims to teach keiki to be kind and spread love instead of succumbing to bullying, hate, self-harm or suicidal ideation.
“Prevention is one of the most effective and preferred solutions for bullying,” O’Brien said in a press release. “If we can ‘vaccinate’ our keiki against bullying before it happens, we’re more likely to stop it.”
The program offers a free Social Emotional Learning curriculum for Hawai‘i public schools, as required by the Hawai‘i Department of Education, which includes interactive school rallies and education through the likes of local children’s books.
Two of the books in this series include “Aloha Allova: A Sacred Secret to Save the Day,” and “Aloha Always Wins!” — a new release that focuses on bullying. Using
More than 300 Hawai‘i schools have incorporated this impactful curriculum, which is more than any other state. Perhaps this is, in part, why the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported a decrease in acts of bullying, both on school property and electronically, based on surveys given to Hawai‘i students in 2019 and 2022.
Hōkūle’a Canoe and Crew Prepare for Moananuiākea
Voyage
The Hōkūle‘ a voyaging canoe has officially launched its Alaska Heritage Sail after a 30-hour sail from Juneau to Yakutat. This small Tlingit town is known by locals as Yaakwdáat, which serendipitously translates to “where canoes rest.”
This locale was selected as an homage to the late, former Alaska Lt. Gov. Byron Mallott, who was born and raised in Yakutat. His connection to Hawaiian culture goes back to 1990, when he was a driving force in the construction of another voyaging canoe, the Hawai‘iloa, through the donation of two 200-foot Sitka spruce logs.
“You do it for the Hawaiian people, but it reaches far beyond," Mallott said in a statement from
the Hawaiian Voyaging Traditions archives. "In your canoe, you carry all of us who share your vision and aspiration for a people to live and prosper with their future firmly built on the knowledge of their heritage and tradition.”
Mallott’s respect for Hawaiian culture and his charitable actions created a deeply rooted relationship between natives of southeastern Alaska and Hawai‘i that remains intact decades later — and the Hōkūle‘a was greeted with much fanfare because of it.
After reaching the northernmost point the canoe has ever traveled, the Hōkūle‘a will take a well-deserved break before completing its route to other villages like Hoonah and Haines. It will then loop back to Juneau on June 10.
All of this is but a warm-up leading to the launch of the highly anticipated Moananuiākea Voyage on June 15, when the canoe and its crew will begin their journey to circumnavigate the Pacific. This will be the Hōkūle‘a’s 15th major voyage, which is also serving as a global educational campaign.
Reef-Friendly Landscaping Comes
Home to Maui
Earlier this year, the Four Seasons Resort Lāna‘i was the recipient of the inaugural gold-level reef-friendly landscaping (RFL)
certification presented by The Maui Reef Friendly Landscaping Coalition.
In May, the Royal Lāhainā Resort & Bungalows and Honokeana Cove became the first two properties on Maui to be awarded with silver-level RFL certifications.
The certification program, which is managed by the Maui Nui Marine Resource Council (MNMRC), was inspired by the efforts of Royal Lāhaina landscape manager Duane Sparkman after he was made aware of the dangers and liabilities inherent with utilizing conventional products like synthetic fertilizers, chemical pesticides and herbicides.
At Honokeana Cove, landscape manager Raymond Watson had also been moving toward organic landscaping when he saw the opportunity to pursue RFL certification.
“Achieving RLF certification is in line with the sustainability goals we have at Honokeana Cove,” Watson said. “We achieved 100% power self-sufficiency last month through solar power, and now we’ve been able to remove conventional landscaping chemicals from the property. We recently started making our own compost tea as a replacement for synthetic fertilizers to remediate the soil on the property.”
Both Maui properties were awarded silver RFL certifications, as opposed to gold, because neither property has personnel with an organic landcare professional accreditation — yet.

Cultivating Maui’s Culinary Future
New kitchens at University of Hawai‘i Maui College foster food entrepreneurship
By Dan Collins
In a bold effort to support sustainable agriculture and the development of locally-made, value-added food products, the Maui Food Innovation Center at University of Hawai‘i Maui College has completed a 4-year, $8.5 million renovation of a former cafeteria in the college’s Pilina Building. The center has also assembled an impressive array of commercial food processing and packaging equipment for students and local entrepreneurs to use.
MFIC has maintained a commercial test kitchen on campus and offered food safety and product development classes for over a decade, however this new investment has brought the food business incubator to the next level. Years of planning, which were stretched even further by the COVID-19 pandemic, have resulted in a well-designed and carefully executed workspace.
So-called ghost kitchens — where ambitious home cooks can prepare food products, or even hot meals to-go, in a shared, health department-approved facility — are not a new concept. That said, the uptick in demand for takeout food during the pandemic helped fuel this movement. And though there are a handful of shared commercial kitchens on the island with rentable space, none are nearly as well equipped as MFIC.
UHMC offers a series of three classes in support of the new facility,
with upcoming sessions scheduled July through September and October through December. The introductory Food Business Start-Up class costs $99 and covers the basics of launching a successful food business.
The Food Product Concept to Consumer Incubator is a more in-depth exploration of the process behind developing a recipe into a viable business, which costs $299. Consultations with the instructors helps students through the process of sourcing ingredients, managing their supply chain and developing best practices for growth.
A third class, Applied Studies in Fundamental Food Manufacturing, is a self-directed, hands-on lab where students can perfect and manufacture their products, and tuition is only $79. The classes are all team-taught by business instructor and Maui Nui Food Alliance member Vince Domingo and pastry chef Douglas Paul, who is a product of the UHMC culinary program as well as a graduate of the Western Culinary Institute, now called Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts, in Portland, Oregon.
The MFIC contains various workstations to allow for all kinds of culinary creations.
A cold processing room contains a blast chiller, a tumbler vacuum for marinating, a grinder, a meat-specific grinder and mixer, a package wrapper, an industrial vegetable peeler, an ice cream maker and a
freeze dryer. The dry processing room is filled with ovens, a smoker, commercial mixers, a dehydrator, an automatic scale for portioning and a bag sealer. The wet process room boasts a giant fryer, a six-burner gas range, jacketed steam kettles, a large wok-like tilt skillet, filling machines and a bottling line. A nearby packaging room houses a label printer, labeler, metal detector, vacuum packing equipment and machinery for sealing prepared food trays.
Food safety and sanitation are of primary importance and, once operational, those entering the new facility will be required to wear white chef’s coats and cover their hair and beards.
Because the equipment will be shared by people making a variety of products, the team is paying special attention to potential allergens and issues of cross-contamination. For instance, the same dehydrator could be used to dry pineapple, fish and venison jerky at different times, so sanitation of all surfaces is key. For that reason, they plan to hold off on using some of the machinery for meat, fish or poultry until they’re certain that doing so won’t preclude them from using it for other products.
Food safety expert Dr. Derrick Payne is being brought in as a consultant to help establish standard operating procedures.
The center is managed by Britisher Ian Stewart, a veteran of the UK Department of Trade & Investment, while
former Maui Pineapple Co. manager Chris Morakis handles quality assurance and curriculum development.
In service to their mission to support sustainable agriculture and make the island more food secure, the new facilities are not just reserved for students. Any established farmer or value-added food entrepreneur is welcome to apply to rent the space to scale up their production. It’s important to meet with the staff and discuss the specifics of each business owner’s plan, explained Karen Hamada, who, as director of extended learning and workforce development, has spearheaded the creation of the new center. Applicants are considered on an individual basis and the cost of using the equipment varies, depending on their needs. But Hamada said that rental rates would be roughly based on the current rate for renting the existing commercial kitchen in Laulima Hall, which is about $35 an hour. She also credits State Rep. Kyle Yamashita’s perseverance for securing funding for the renovation.
The Maui Cookie Lady, HI Spice hot sauce and Hāna Gold turmericand ginger-infused chocolates are among the center’s success stories. The Hawai‘i ‘Ulu Cooperative is another notable local business that‘s looking into producing their breadfruit hummus and other products at the new facility. Savoring Sustainability
Fast-food restaurants seem to be taking over Maui, and SONIC Drive-In is the latest addition to a growing list of mainland companies that have opened locations in the Valley Isle. This corporate expansion has been cause for concern amongst residents and players in the restaurant industry islandwide.
“If we are not careful as a community, we will end up just like the mainland,” said Brian Etheredge, chef-owner of Cutting Edge Catering, chef and co-owner of Wailuku’s newest eatery Tails Up Maui, and co-founder of the #MauiEatLocal initiative. “We will look like every single city in America with the same box stores, with the same fast-food restaurants on the corner of Columbus and Main Street.”
Dania Novack, co-founder of #MauiEatLocal and publisher of edible Hawaiian Islands Magazine, also witnessed these fast-food corporations moving in on an opportunity that the pandemic had presented — and it didn’t resonate with her.
“While we were home taking care of our families and our community, they swooped in and they opened,” Novack told MauiTimes. This set off an internal alarm that ignited her passion for educating the public about the detrimental effect that fast food has on consumers’ health and the local economy.
By Ashley Probst
One of her biggest concerns is that most of the revenue generated by Hawai‘i franchises will ultimately leave the islands. This is paired with the knowledge that importing a majority of our community’s food supply is not a sustainable system.
Now, she’s working to build a reality where people can wake up in the morning and ride their bike to a locally owned coffee shop to purchase a Maui-grown coffee and tip the staff knowing that everything came from and will stay in the community.
Maui Restaurateurs on a Mission
The #MauiEatLocal movement is helmed by Etheredge and Novack alongside vice president Jana McMahon of Maui Private Chef and treasurer Charlene Ka‘uhane, who serves as president of Ka‘uhane Inc., a public relations and marketing communications firm that specializes in tourism/hospitality and agriculture, as well as the organizer of Maui AgFest & 4-H Livestock Fair — a #MauiEatLocal partner.
The restaurants that have committed to the #MauiEatLocal mission have come together as
— all the original gangsters are with me — and what happened was, overnight … there were 150 [other restaurants] that wanted to be part of it,” Etheredge said. “… We realized, oh wow, we nailed the pulse.”
In order to qualify for the #MauiEatLocal program, businesses must be locally owned, source at least 40% of ingredients from local purveyors, and be willing to participate in social media campaigns while acting as a spokesperson and educator for the public.
Novack pointed to Papa‘āina’s Lee Anne Wong as an example of a chef who’s taking a conscious approach to their kitchen. “I would say a good 90% of her menu is locally sourced,” Novack said. “ … You go to the farmers market on Saturday [at] 5:30, 6 in the morning before the market opens, you’ll find Lee Anne there shopping for the restaurant.”
“That money is staying here to buy a surf lesson for a local family or help buy a book for school,” Novack said. “… The money circulates locally instead of going back to the mainland where we don’t see it again.”
It was from this desire for a radical paradigm shift that #MauiEatLocal was born. The intention of this initiative is to encourage visitors and kama‘āina to create a circular economy by supporting locals.
a collective to pioneer a more sustainable system. The program launched with 24 participants, including Janice and Sheldon Simeon of Tin Roof, Lee Anne Wong of Papa‘āina, Paulina and Jeremy Solyn of NyloS, and various other renowned names in the Maui foodie scene. And there are plenty more eagerly awaiting admittance.
“It started with 24 of us. I got Sheldon Simeon, Lee Anne Wong, Jeff Shear [of Restaurant Marlow]
But even those who don’t meet the #MauiEatLocal criteria won’t automatically be turned away. While vetting these food establishments, Novack found that some of them needed to incorporate more locally sourced ingredients in order to qualify for the program.
“Instead of saying no, I said, ‘Can we help you?’ ” Novack recalled, noting that she hasn’t hesitated to do site-visits to evaluate inventory and provide recommendations for

local suppliers. She noted that one chef she worked with was “open to it and they’re probably going to be joining [#MauiEatLocal in] June … because they’ve made huge strides and they’ve changed their sourcing.”
This proves that the initiative has already had a positive impact on local business practices, and beyond. Novack has also received interest from food-and-beverage personnel on other islands who want to start their own locally focused collectives.
And Etheredge is on board with leading by example.
“Being out here in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, we could be the model of sustainability for the rest of the planet,” he mused while envisioning a self-sufficient future for our community.
Tails Up: Circularity on the Rise
Etheredge’s latest venture, Tails Up Maui in Wailuku, is a seafood-centric dining establishment that’s a testament to the values that make up the core mission of #MauiEatLocal.
The award-winning chef’s menu features a colorful array of locally sourced ingredients including produce from Local Harvest, a supplier company that connects chefs with local farms, and daily catches from his co-owner Chimo Shipp, a born and raised Maui boy who runs his company, Fresh Fish Maui, out of a back room in the restaurant.
“We’re really trying to walk the talk. And it’s not easy — the profit
margins are slim,” Etheredge said, noting that the incorporation of sustainable practices was always a part of their business model.
In fact, for these co-owners, their partnership sprouted from literal compost.
“I saw that he had all these fish carcasses, and he was giving them to a farmer to make compost,” Etheredge said of Shipp. “And I’m like, … ‘Will you scrape that one? Wait, let me cook it and make a broth with it first.’ … So that’s really where it all started.”
Now that their shared space has come to fruition, the Tails Up Maui executive chef has plans to expand the fish-focused menu to be more inclusive for landlubbers. “The original idea was to bring in and buy whole lambs or whole cows … and then that cow is the [special for the] month of May. How many different ways can we use it?” Etheredge shared regarding his vision for the restaurant’s future.
Moving forward, Etheredge is committed to traversing this journey toward sustainability as a community and prepared to face the inherent obstacles along the way.
“Does it sound expensive to eat locally sourced ingredients? It does. But can we sit down at the table together, as a community, and figure it out? That’s all I want,” Etheredge said of his hope for the future of Maui’s food industry.

Da Dish From Trish
A serving of Maui’s arts & entertainment news
The stages are alive and shows are plentiful again. There’s something for everyone, including exciting opportunities for those under 21 to contribute and support Maui’s music scene, as well as lessons to be learned by event managers.
Arts curriculums are unfortunately cut from most public schools, and SMALL TOWN * BIG ART’s recent initiative with singer-songwriter Tanama Colibri is just what the community needed. Inspired by a volunteer trip to Kaho‘olawe, she recently workshopped with sixth graders at ‘Īao Intermediate to create lyrics and music for a pop-up show in Wailuku. As part of this program, experience the phenomenal gifts of Anthony Pfluke on June 16 at Kipuka Square near ‘Īao Theater.
The 3rd annual Hawai‘i Beatbox Championship is June 24 at da Playground Maui, and all ages are invited to enter. The afternoon event is hosted by Chino LaForge and features performances from international judges, including American Beatbox champion and Maui’s own beatbox pioneer, Pono Akiona. It’s exhilarating to experience him thriving and being a humble hero. Let’s make “Be Like Pono” swag!
I’m also no stranger to producing all-ages shows, and I have mad respect for anyone that does so successfully. Although, after a recent metal and punk show, my inbox unpleasantly piled up. It may be time for a rebriefing on show etiquette…
Leaving the comforts of home to spend your hard-earned money is intimidating, let alone dropping off your children at an event. If you’re presenting all-ages events, there has to be a heightened level of responsibility, especially at night. Promoters and venues need to work together to create a safe and functional environment. This includes meetings with security before doors open, proper communication, fair treatment of opening
acts and an understanding of what defines dancing as well as aggressive behavior. Perhaps, organizers and tech shouldn’t disappear when issues arise. If there’s anything you’re going to cut costs on, don’t let it be sound.
Instead of happy memories with a legendary band, musicians and attendees left feeling mistreated and unsatisfied. One local musician even got a black eye from security while trying to help others being mishandled. This is not cool, Maui. We can do better. We can present secure atmospheres and lively shows. It’s being done.
How are big acts going to want to make Maui a tour stop when the plug could get pulled on their sets? Was it the alcohol, poor planning, production challenges or just the full moon weekend? The blame game is no fun, so let’s all work to provide safe and successful settings in our nightlife. Create an environment you’d want your sister or mother to feel secure in. As a fan, don’t bring a bad attitude out or use live shows as an excuse to be crude. Going out is a responsibility as well, and remember to respect each other and look out for one another. I know many already understand this, but maybe others deserve a reminder.
Until next time, keep it real and stay cool! @trishdadishmaui

Summer Movie Madness
A critical guide to the most anticipated films hitting the big screen
By Barry Wurst II
Wurst's Picks
By Barry Wurst II
Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One (July 14)
The Gist: The seventh in the series, starring Tom Cruise. Enough said.
The Upside: Putting the trailer for this in front of “Top Gun: Maverick” last year was a stroke of marketing genius. Cruise is on a hit streak hot enough to make us forget about “The Mummy.”
The Downside: Like it or not, this will be unfairly compared to last summer’s mega-hit Cruise event, and “Top Gun: Maverick” is a very hard movie to follow.
BABYLON
Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (opens June 2)
The Gist: The animated sequel to the greatest Spider-Man movie ever made.
The Upside: Miles Morales is a thrilling hero, and the visual style matches the radical new approach to the Spider-Man mythos. The human dimension to this multiverse spins webs around that recent “Doctor Strange” misstep.
The Downside: This has a completely different creative team from the 2018 “Into the Spider-Verse.” If the sudden disinterest in Marvel movies continues, the Spidey-verse stops here.
Transformers: Rise of the Beasts (June 9)
The Gist: A prequel to the first Michael Bay “Transformers,” featuring the Maximals.
The Upside: Steve Caple Jr. of “Creed II” is directing and not Bay. If Caple Jr. can bring heart to the formula like the previous “Bumblebee,” expect a big winner.
The Downside: These movies are awful, and the trailer suggests a return to “Revenge of the Fallen”-level dreck. Sadly, Orson Welles does not reprise his vocal turn as Unicron.
Elemental (June 16)
The Gist: Pixar comedy about a
world where the four elements are anthropomorphic Disney characters.
The Upside: Using the gimmicky premise to discuss the topic of racism is worthwhile.
The Downside: Visual beauty aside, it looks generic and interchangeable from other recent Pixar works. Compared to “The Super Mario Bros. Movie,” this looks very 2015.
Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny (June 30)
The Gist: The final adventure starring Harrison Ford as an adventurer/terrible college professor.
The Upside: Early word is that it’s better than “Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.” Only Ford can make this plausible at 80 years old.
The Downside: That title sure is dopey. Will it be a problem that Steven Spielberg didn’t direct this?
Insidious: The Red Door (July 7)
The Gist: The fifth installment is a back-to-basics haunted house chiller.
The Upside: Giving Patrick Wilson both leading man and directing duty was inspired. Jason Blum continues his record of making low-budget, seriously scary thrillers.
The Downside: Another sequel in a played-out franchise. Blum’s prior “Halloween Kills” demonstrated how not every Blumhouse entry is a sure thing.
Barbie (July 21)
The Gist: The long-awaited Mattel doll movie starring Margot Robie and Ryan Gosling.
The Upside: Hiring Hollywood outsiders Greta Gerwig and Noah Baumbach to write and direct this matches the perfectly cast leads. Simu Liu of “Shang Chi” is in this. Looks as fun as a Barbie Dreamhouse.
The Downside: What if the hip tone, unapologetic campiness and garish colors make it a non-starter for kids and adults? If this tanks, you can forget about the Hot Wheels movie.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem (August 2)
The Gist: A new, entirely animated take on the Laird/Eastman characters.
The Upside: No more Megan Fox or awful CGI. In fact, the look of this is beautiful. Bringing in the authors of “Pineapple Express” and “Superbad” was a great idea. April O’Neil was Black in the early issues and is wisely voiced here by Ayo Edebiri.
The Downside: Opening this at the tail end of summer is not a sign of confidence. After suffering through the Michael Bay-produced Rocksteady and Bebop entry, are longtime fans willing to give yet another rethink a shot?
With so many movies debuting this summer, we simply couldn't fit them all. Check out the full list online.
One of last year’s most controversial films was thrown under the bus for being deemed offensive, too long and a box office flop. So, how’s the movie? Fantastic, actually. This recreation of decadence and moral compromise during the Golden Age of Cinema is a scene-for-scene knockout. Featuring career-commentary performances by Brad Pitt and Margot Robbie, astonishing filmmaking and breathtaking set pieces, writer/director Damien Chazelle’s shocking and hilarious film is both a celebration and takedown of Hollywood moviemaking, then and now. This was one of the best films of 2022. See it now before it inevitably is declared a “misunderstood classic.” (On Paramount+)
AMERICAN GRAFFITI
So, where were you in ’62? “Star Wars” may be writer/director George Lucas’ legacy but this 1973 comedy is his absolute best film. Taking place during that moment where life after high school graduation is full of possibilities and undeniable dread, this features you-are-there period detail, a knockout wall-to-wall soundtrack and a once-in-a-lifetime ensemble cast (Ron Howard! Harrison Ford! Richard Dreyfuss! Wolfman Jack!!). If you’ve never seen it or haven’t experienced this since Nixon was in office, Lucas’ heartfelt masterpiece is essential viewing. (On Netflix)

HOROSCOPE
Black Pearl Astrology
By Daisy Finch
June Forecast
Just three days into the month of June, there will be a Full Moon in the sign of Sagittarius. During the days leading up to and after the Full Moon, you may find yourself having the urge to speak your truth and share your knowledge. This is a great time to collect all the tidbits of information you’ve accumulated and direct it, like an arrow, into a broader purpose. Sagittarius is a fiery sign that is enthusiastically on the quest for new information and ideas. The days surrounding a Full Moon are times when things are in the spotlight. Think about how some of your ideas or things you have been working on have come together into a greater goal or purpose.
On June 5, Venus will enter Leo. This is another fire sign, which is known to have courage and take action. With Venus in the sign of the lion, you may feel an extra boost of boldness in expressing yourself and your ideas. Venus will be in the sign of Leo until October, which is a longer stay than usual. This is because there will be a Venus retrograde towards the end of July. That means there will be an extra focus on the Leo part of your chart. If you are curious about where Leo is in your chart or how this will affect you personally, ask an astrologer for more insight.
On June 11, Mercury enters the air sign of Gemini. Mercury is the planet of ideas, thoughts and communication, and is the ruler of Gemini. When a planet is the ruler of a sign, it means the planet feels comfortable and at home there. Gemini is known to be clever, witty and always questioning things. Like a bee traveling from flower to flower, Gemini is curious and wants to explore all the ideas. With Mercury in Gemini, it is a great time to take advantage of this energy and tackle things that need mental energy.
Just about a week later on June 17, there will be a New Moon in Gemini. New moons are a time for planting seeds. Take advantage of the buzzing Mercury in Gemini vibe and gather your ideas for starting something new. Just be careful not to get too scattered, and stay focused on the outcome you desire.
Toward the end of the month, the Sun will move into Cancer, marking the beginning of summer. This event is also known as the summer solstice. This is the day that the radiant Sun is at its highest point in the sky, providing us with the most hours of daylight in the year. It is a pivotal time, when daylight hours begin to shorten from this point until December. With the Sun in Cancer, it’s a time to focus on our chosen family and how we care for each other. In Hawaiian culture, connecting with family is a focal point of everyday life. Protecting those we care about is nourishing and brings about purpose. Have some fun with the people that light you up and bring you joy.
Sun / Rising Sign Horoscopes
Most accurate using your Rising sign. Use your Sun sign if you don’t know your Rising sign.
ARIES (MAR 21 - APR 19)
You may be feeling a spark of creative energy this month. This could include creative endeavors with children, expressing yourself artistically or igniting a romance. New seeds are planted for learning something new and for communicating your ideas.
TAURUS (APR 20 - MAY 20)
You may feel the urge to liven up your living space. Activities such as decorating, hosting a party or having extra fun with family can be heartwarming and fulfilling. There is an opportunity for future wealth planning this month as well.
GEMINI (MAY 21 - JUN 20)
This is the perfect time to plant seeds for personal growth. Focus your energy on learning something new that can contribute to your personal evolution. Be brave and communicate your ideas with others.
CANCER (JUN 21 - JUL 22)
Beginning a new therapy practice would be beneficial right now. Whether it’s walking solo on the beach, meditation or another form of therapy — traditional or otherwise — take some time to tend to your inner landscape.
LEO (JUL. 23 - AUG. 22)
It’s time to shine Leo! You have full permission to dance, play and be the life of the party. You have a gift for letting others shine, too, which is why you’re adored all the more.
VIRGO (AUG 23 - SEP 22)
Something new is brewing in your place of work. In order to give it your all, give yourself the gift of accepting the shadowed parts of yourself. You are so good at offering that to others, but rarely to yourself.
LIBRA (SEP. 23 - OCT. 22)
You have the gift of charm when it comes to friends and community. Although the constant process of balancing takes a great deal of energy, you rarely show it. Stay true to yourself even though it may displease others.
SCORPIO (OCT 23 - NOV 21)
While there is a good chance that you may feel creatively expressive at work, there is also a chance that you may feel irritated or combative with coworkers. Try to be aware of the energies at play and find harmony within yourself rather than making things harder than they need to be.
SAGITTARIUS (NOV. 22 - DEC. 21)
The state of your health should be trending in a more positive direction in the months ahead. A new beginning with a romantic partner is also a possibility.
CAPRICORN (DEC. 22 - JAN. 19)
The month of June is a good time to implement a new health or work routine. There may be good fortune or challenges in relation to your obligations with others, or a combination of both.
AQUARIUS (JAN 20 - FEB 18)
This could be a great time for meeting a new partner or an opportunity to spice things up in your current relationship. Blessings and opportunities for growth are happening at home.
PISCES (FEB 18 - MAR 20)
June is a good month for tackling your to-do list at work or at home. By checking things off the list, you can more fully invest in your own personal growth.
