Training Matters

STAFF TRAINING IS NOT ONE SIZE FITS ALL! ‘All of us do not have equal talent, but all of us should have an equal opportunity to develop our talent.’ John F. Kennedy. People have their own perceptions and opinions about difference. These ideas and opinions are formed as a result of each individual person’s background and life experiences. As a trainer and assessor, it is important to remain unbiased and professional, by promoting learning opportunities for all students. We refer to this practice as inclusive learning.

Inclusive learning: • Values and respects difference • Promotes learning • Supports and advises colleagues, learners and clients to encourage new and ongoing participation in learning opportunities • Explores the benefits of learning with colleagues and clients • Recognises and rewards learning and competency achievement in the work and/or learning environment • Provides opportunities to develop your own and others generic skills • Offers multiple pathways to achieve your own and others current and future learning goals The underpinning principles of inclusive learning are: • • • • • • • • •
