When you meet Vanessa Nock, the passion behind her craft is immediately apparent. As the creator of Uniqueness Designer Jeweller, Vanessa’s golden sculptures are more than just adornments; they are legacies, connections, and symbols of empowerment.

Crafting legacies

Vanessa's journey into the world of jewellery began with a welding course in high school. A teacher's comment about her skill led her to explore the refined art of jewellery making. "It's a very special creation, made from metal, from gems from the earth," Vanessa explains, her eyes sparkling with enthusiasm.

Her creations are not just for special occasions like birthdays,

UNIQUENESS IN EVERY PIECE: A CONVERSATION WITH VANESSA NOCK

anniversaries, or weddings. They commemorate triumphs, changes of life, and personal empowerment. Vanessa’s work is about education, helping people understand that jewellery is not just a gift but a powerful statement on everyday life.

Vanessa’s clients come from all walks of life, but they often share a common trait: they have a collection of jewellery that has evolved over time. Vanessa provides a solution to the jewellery box, helping clients rediscover what sparks joy by transforming old pieces into something new and beautiful.

The design process is highly personalised. Vanessa takes the time to get to know her clients in her private studio, understanding their likes, dislikes, and personalities. “I will never create one piece the same as another,” she says, emphasising the uniqueness of her work.

A journey of creation

Vanessa’s experience spans 27 years, starting with an apprenticeship at the age of 18. Her journey led her to the Sunshine Coast, where she worked for 14 years before starting Uniqueness Designer Jeweller just over four years ago.

Her studio is a safe space, a magical place where clients feel comfortable sharing their emotions and dreams. Vanessa uses quality metals to design and engineer each piece, ensuring that her creations are investments for the future.

There is a story in every piece of jewellery she creates. Vanessa recalls a lady who brought multiple generations of rings, and how she transformed them into a two-part piece that could be worn together or separately. “It’s like giving people permission to have what they’ve always dreamed of, ” she says.

Price points vary, but Vanessa emphasises the importance of investing in good quality metal like 18-karat gold or platinum. The choice of stones is equally diverse, ranging from diamonds and sapphires to colourful spinels.

Unforgettable experiences

The moment of ‘the reveal’ is special for Vanessa. The emotional

reactions, the connections formed, and the friendships that often blossom are what make her work truly rewarding. “There's a little piece of my heart in each piece,” she says, her eyes glistening.

Vanessa’s new studio, located in Maroochydore, is a testament to her dedication and love for her craft. As she looks forward to the future, her excitement is palpable. Her waitlist of clients is growing, but she knows she’s making jewellery for the people she’s meant to be making it for.

Vanessa Nock’s Uniqueness Designer Jeweller is more than a business; it’s a celebration of individuality, creativity, and connection. Whether you’re looking to commemorate a special moment or simply find a piece that resonates with your soul, Vanessa’s creations are sure to inspire.

You can connect with Vanessa through email, phone, or social media on Facebook and Instagram. Her website offers a glimpse into her world of golden sculptures, where every piece is a unique expression of beauty.

In Vanessa’s words, “Find your uniqueness.” It’s a mantra that resonates not just in her work but in her approach to life, a reminder that we all have the power to create something beautiful, meaningful, and uniquely our own. a www.vanessnock.com.au

SUNSHINE COAST ICONIC MATTERS MAGAZINE: Farewell to Vickie and Dranko Magic

Life’s a beach”, they say, and for Vickie and Dranko Magic, the owners of the Sunshine Coast's iconic Matters Magazine, it's been a beautiful journey. But every journey has its end, and with heavy hearts, they announce that this magazine you are reading right now, will be their last.

For 17 years, Matters Magazine has been a beacon of inspiration, love, compassion, education, information and connection on the Sunshine Coast. It's been a platform for stories that matter, voices that resonate, and a community that thrives on connection. But sometimes, life throws a curveball, and you've got to catch it with grace.

Vickie, a passionate journalist, editor, writer, life coach, and beauty therapist, has been diagnosed with long covid. The illness has taken a toll, making it impossible for her to continue with the magazine. It's a bittersweet moment, a time to reflect on the past and embrace the future with courage.

“We’ve had an incredible run,” Vickie says, her voice filled with gratitude. “From my and Magic’s daily beach walks to Mooloolaba to the late-night editing sessions, every moment has been a blessing. But now, it’s time to hang up our boots and focus on healing.”

Dranko, Vickie's partner in both life and business, echoes her sentiments. “We've built something beautiful here. But health and well-being come first. We’re grateful for everything and everyone who’s been part of this journey.”

A legacy of love and inspiration

Matters Magazine has been more than just a publication. It’s been a movement, a wave of positivity that’s swept across the Sunshine Coast. From fitness and health with the sister magazine Why Fitness that Vickie created together with her friend Jen Forster, to personal growth and community engagement, the magazine has touched lives in ways words can hardly capture.

Vickie’s goal has always been to inspire people towards more peace, happiness, love, and compassion. And she's done just that, with a kindness and strength that’s resonated with readers far and wide.

“We wanted to show people that the answers they seek are already within them and I believe we’ve achieved that,” Vickie reflects.

“The stories we’ve shared, the connections we’ve made – the business education and information we’ve shared, have all been part of something bigger.”

A community of support

The farewell is not just a goodbye from Vickie and Dranko; it’s a thank you. A thank you to the readers, the contributors, the advertisers, and everyone who’s been part of the Matters Magazine family.

“We couldn’t have done it without you,” Vickie says.

“You’ve been our rock, our support, our community. Thank you for everything,” Dranko adds.

The Sunshine Coast will surely miss Matters Magazine, but the legacy it leaves behind will continue to inspire. The beach will still be there, the waves will still crash, and the memories will live on in the hearts of those who’ve been touched by Vickie and Dranko’s passion.

A new chapter

Life is full of new beginnings, and for Vickie and Dranko, this farewell is just the start of a new chapter, a chapter filled with healing, reflection, and growth.

“We’re not saying goodbye forever,” Vickie assures. “We’re just taking a step back, focusing on what matters most, our health, our love, our peace. The magazine has been our baby for a very long time, but now it’s time to nurture ourselves.”

The daily beach walks will continue, the love will grow, and the magic that Vickie and Dranko have created will always be a part of the Sunshine Coast’s fabric.

So, here’s to Matters Magazine, to Vickie and Dranko, and here is to the amazing Sunshine Coast community.

LEVERAGING AGENCY EXPERTISE FOR MARKETING RESULTS

In an era defined by rapid technological advancements (think automation, AI, new platforms and integrations), tough economic conditions (think inflation, rising interest rates and consumer costs), and ever-changing consumer behaviours, effective marketing is the cornerstone of business success.

However, organisations in today’s business climate face a crucial decision: should they get their admin person to do some marketing; hire an in-house marketing person or team; partner with a specialised marketing agency, or both? And whichever way you turn, how do you ensure you have a great marketing strategy that produces great business results?

Having run a marketing agency for over 15 years and having seen behind the scenes of hundreds of businesses and marketing departments, I believe there is a compelling case for a dedicated resource in-house (which could be an administrative or managerial role). When you also hire a full-service marketing agency for the rest, you will generally see the best outcomes.

Why? Marketing agencies employ a team of specialists, each with unique skills in areas such as design, copy, paid ads, websites, SEO, content creation, social media management, and data. These days it is simply not realistic to go deep in all of these skills. It is likely you may get someone who can execute one or two of these disciplines only. And then they get sick, and take leave, and have other ‘life’ things come up.

Collaborating with an agency ensures you have all bases covered with a depth of talent. Even better, your organisation is keeping up with industry best practices, which let’s face it, can be hard to keep up with!

Hiring, training, and retaining skilled marketing professionals yourself is also costly, with many marketing roles starting at $70k + on costs per annum for fresh out of school, and far more for experience.

If you were to reallocate this budget to an agency, you could tap into a wide range of marketing activities and access a wide range of state-of-the-art tools to facilitate datadriven decision-making, competitor analysis, and performance measurement. All up we currently spend around $80,000 per annum on these tools!

Agencies like us can also swiftly adjust our marketing strategies to meet your organisation’s changing demands, say scaling up for rebrands, product, service or event launches, and downsizing in quieter times without the huge costs of having a staffer sitting on their hands.

We can bring fresh approaches that can reinvigorate your marketing. We hope you’ll contact us to have a chat and discuss more how this could work for you.

NAVIGATING THE TECHNOLOGICAL LANDSCAPE WITH UNIQUE SOLUTIONS

12 | MATTERS MAGAZINE | Issue 104

In the rapidly evolving world of technology, businesses often find themselves overwhelmed by the myriad of options and solutions available. TECODA, a Sunshine Coast-based company, has emerged as a beacon of guidance, offering unique solutions tailored to the needs of small to medium-sized local businesses spanning various industries from aviation to construction. They also cater to international clients, but their focus remains on the local business community.

Clients often approach TECODA with a lack of knowledge and clarity about their technological needs. They seek guidance to filter through misinformation and find honest solutions to their problems. TECODA's approach is to ‘sherpa’ clients through the process, providing them with the information they need to make informed decisions.

TECODA's diverse range of skills set them apart from competitors. They are a holistic technology company offering software development, cloud-based solutions, cyber security and disaster recovery, professionally managed IT needs, and even phone solutions. Their ability to adapt and innovate allows them to provide solutions that are tailored to the client's budget and objectives.

TECODA's collaborative approach is a defining feature. They are willing to work with other providers and even direct clients to other solutions if it's in their best interest. This collegiality emphasises their commitment to outcomes and reputation rather than mere competition.

One of their remarkable collaborative achievements is developing innovative software in partnership with another local Sunshine Coast company. The ongoing, ground-breaking innovation was recognised in its first iteration with an AIIA Merit Award – Business and Industry Solution of the Year (2021 iAwards). This solution uses historical data to help predict fire weather scenarios, a ground-breaking innovation with potential global applications.

In an age where Artificial Intelligence (AI) is becoming increasingly prevalent, TECODA helps businesses understand how they can leverage AI for competitive advantage. Whether it’s through generative technology or machine learning, they guide clients in utilising AI to make informed decisions and stay ahead of the curve.

Christian Davies, the driving force behind TECODA, brings a wealth of experience and a personal touch to the business. His journey from network engineer to entrepreneur, coupled with his survival from prostate cancer, adds a human element to the company. He now encourages all men to check their PSA levels at their next doctor visit. His story is a testament to resilience, innovation, and a commitment to excellence.

TECODA stands as a solution-oriented problem solver, offering peace of mind to those navigating the complex technological landscape. Their consultative approach, unique solutions, and willingness to collaborate make them a trusted partner for businesses on the Sunshine Coast and beyond.

For those feeling overwhelmed by technology challenges or seeking innovative solutions, TECODA invites you to have a conversation. Their door is open to anyone looking for guidance, assurance, and a path to success in the ever-changing world of technology. a www.tecoda.com.au

THE BIRTH OF BUSINESS MATTERS MAGAZINE

In 2005, Darren and Alison Blake found themselves at a crossroads. They were seeking effective B2B advertising options for their company, Chilli Group, on the Sunshine Coast. The available channels—TV, radio, and local newspapers— were all geared towards lifestyle content, leaving a glaring gap in the market for business-focused media. Recognising this unmet need, the duo conceptualised Business Matters Magazine.

The magazine was envisioned as a grass-roots platform aimed at uniting the local business community. It was to be a true B2B magazine, offering a fresh alternative to the lifestyle-centric media that dominated the Sunshine Coast. Darren and Alison saw it as an opportunity to fill a void, but also as a way to contribute to the business ecosystem they were a part of.

For those venturing into new businesses, Darren’s advice is especially valuable. With 30 years of business experience under his belt, his counsel is rooted in adaptability. He believes that in a world that’s constantly evolving, the ability to adapt is crucial for survival. The Covid-19 pandemic served as a stark reminder of how quickly circumstances can change, and how businesses must be agile to stay afloat. Drawing inspiration from Sam Walton, the founder of Walmart, Darren emphasizes, “You can't just keep doing what works one time; everything around you is changing. To succeed, stay out in front of change.”

AITKEN LEGAL

In 2006, when Aitken Legal first opened its doors on the Sunshine Coast, the community was strikingly welcoming. The firm’s founder, Lisa Aitken, had recently relocated from Sydney, was not only greeted with warm smiles and hellos on the streets but also found an incredibly supportive business environment. This sense of community wasn’t just a surface-level nicety; it translated into meaningful business connections that were nurtured and valued over time. The founder felt an immediate affinity with the community, where people genuinely cared about the well-being of the Sunshine Coast and its residents.

Fast forward 17 years, and Aitken Legal has undergone a remarkable evolution. What started as a one-person operation from a room in the founder’s home has expanded into a thriving firm with offices in the Sunshine Coast, Gold Coast, and Melbourne. The firm’s growth isn’t just measured in square footage or the number of offices; it’s evident in the loyalty of the team. Three senior lawyers have tenures of 15, 12, and 11 years, while the accounts manager has been with the firm for

16 years. Even those who left for family reasons had been part of the team for seven to eight years. This longevity speaks volumes about the firm’s culture.

Despite the growth and changes, Aitken Legal has stayed true to its roots. It began as a specialist employment law firm catering exclusively to employers, and that focus hasn’t wavered. The firm continues to offer expert advice on all aspects of employment law, standing as a testament to both its integrity and the enduring support of the Sunshine Coast community. f

SUNQUEST SIGNS

In the bustling landscape of the Sunshine Coast, Paula and John Gowland stand as pillars of the local business community. Taking over Sunquest Signs from Syd Shillings, they’ve also been advertising for nearly a decade for their other venture, Sunshine Coast Art and Framing Gallery.

When asked about the most significant change they’ve observed in the Sunshine Coast over these years, the Gowlands point to its transformation. Once a quiet haven for tourists and retirees, the area has evolved into a dynamic hub for small businesses, innovation, technology, and education.

Being featured in Matters Magazine has been more than just an advertising opportunity for John and Paula Gowland; it’s been a catalyst for meaningful collaborations. One such partnership has been with business coach Bruce Campbell, whom they met through the magazine nine years ago and continue to work with

today. “The list of connections and collaborations we’ve made through the magazine is too long to mention,” they say, emphasizing the power of community exposure.

For those considering starting a business on the Sunshine Coast, John and Paula offer sage advice: “Build strong relationships within the local business community.” They stress the importance of networking to gain valuable insights, forge partnerships, and acquire potential customers. “Join local business groups, attend events, and connect with other business owners and entrepreneurs,” they recommend.

As Matters Magazine closes its pages, the Gowlands express their gratitude for the platform it provided. They say, “Thank you to Matters Magazine for bringing business owners together to share ideas and help each other grow.” f www.sunquest.com.au

HUMAN RESOURCE GROUP

In 2006, when Matters Magazine first hit the stands on the Sunshine Coast, the community was just a seedbed of the vibrant, interconnected business hub it has grown into today. Michalle Faulkner had only been in business for a year at that time. With a zero-marketing budget, she saw the publication as an invaluable platform to connect with potential clients. Michalle spent countless hours networking and building relationships with local business owners, laying the foundation for what would become a cornerstone of the Coast’s business community.

One of the most memorable moments for Michalle was the ‘then and now’ feature in Business Matters Magazine in 2018. It allowed her to share her journey from running a small consultancy, Essentials 4 Business, to becoming a partner in EastCoast Human Resource Group and publishing her first book, “The

People Investment.” The feature also highlighted the company’s move into its own commercial premises, marking a significant milestone.

Over the years, Matters Magazine has been more than just a publication; it’s been a catalyst for connections and collaborations. Michalle credits the magazine for forging incredible relationships, some of which have blossomed into client partnerships, while others have turned into lifelong friendships.

As Matters Magazine closes its final chapter after 17 years, it's a bittersweet moment for the Sunshine Coast. The magazine has not only been instrumental in the growth of Michalle’s consultancy business but has also been a steadfast companion in her 18-year business journey. Matters Magazine has provided a platform for entrepreneurs to showcase their ventures and gain invaluable business insights. f www.eastcoasthr.com.au

TAFE QUEENSLAND

In the past 17 years, TAFE Queensland’s East Coast region has undergone a transformative journey, mirroring the significant changes seen on the Sunshine Coast. Established over 140 years ago, TAFE Queensland took a major step on July 1, 2013, when it amalgamated its institutes around the state into one Registered Training Organisation (RTO).

This evolution has been particularly marked by the institution’s adaptability to technological advancements. From the rise of social media to the shift towards online learning during the COVID-19 pandemic, and now the advent of artificial intelligence, TAFE Queensland has consistently updated its educational models. These changes not only meet the demands of the industry but also resonate with community needs. For instance, cybersecurity courses have surged in popularity, reflecting the changing landscape.

Annually, TAFE Queensland provides training to over 125,000 students across more than 60 locations in the state. The institution takes immense pride in its role and is committed to “making great happen” for years to come.

Parallel to TAFE Queensland's growth, the Sunshine Coast has seen its own set of dramatic changes, most notably in population growth. This surge has necessitated significant investment in infrastructure and development. As more people, families, and businesses opt for the Sunshine Coast as their preferred place to live and work, there’s been a corresponding expansion in essential services such as the Sunshine Coast Health Institute. The Sunshine Coast Health Institute is a collaborative partnership between the Sunshine Coast Hospital and Health Service, the University of the Sunshine Coast, Griffith University, and TAFE Queensland, and is located on the Sunshine Coast University Hospital.

In summary, both TAFE Queensland and the Sunshine Coast have evolved in ways that make them more adaptable, resilient, and prepared for the future. Whether it’s in the realm of education or community development, the last 17 years have been a period of significant growth and positive change. f

CELEBRATING 30 YEARS OF GENUINE SUCCESS WITH CHILLI

Established in 1993 on the Sunny Coast, Chilli has become a beacon of success in the marketing industry, epitomising the values of outstanding service, authenticity, and approachability. This year marks an important milestone, 30 years in business, and a legacy that stands strong in a constantly evolving field.

A Family Tradition: 30 years and beyond

One of the core strengths of Chilli is its family roots. Being a family-owned business for 30 years and maintaining the same independent ownership has enabled Chilli to foster a culture that is both genuine and authentic. The involvement of the second generation showcases a continuity of values and long-term vision that goes beyond mere business transactions.

Experienced and established in ’93

With a history spanning three decades, Chilli has not only witnessed the transformation of marketing but actively participated and shaped its evolution. The experience gained through these years is invaluable, allowing the team to navigate the myriad of changes in marketing strategies, tools, and philosophies.

Outstanding Service: No pretence, just excellence

Chilli's reputation as a provider of outstanding service is built upon a foundation of genuine care and results. There’s no room for pretentious people in the team; instead, Chilli emphasises the importance of delivering tangible results. This approach has resonated with clients, creating lasting relationships that are based on trust, transparency, and proven success.

Investing in people and community

EMBRACING THE INEVITABILITY OF CHANGE

A journey with Karinya Montessori Children’s House

Change is not just inevitable; it's an opportunity for positive evolution if one chooses to embrace it. Fourteen years ago, Kerri Steele seized such an opportunity by bringing Karinya Montessori Children’s House to the communities of Noosa and the hinterland town of Cooroy. Since then, the centre has become a cornerstone for hundreds of families, providing crucial support during their children's early developmental years.

As the years have rolled on, Kerri often hears updates about how the children who passed through Karinya's doors are faring. Many have grown into leaders within their school communities and have excelled in their chosen professions. One of the most heartwarming experiences for Kerri was welcoming back a former pupil, Abbey Rowe, (pictured), as a school-based trainee. Observing her kindness and creativity in action with the children was a humbling moment. Having been a student at Karinya Montessori for her key formative years, Kerri likes to think the centre played a foundational role in Abbey’s educational journey.

Stability and growth also characterise the staff at Karinya. Three foundational staff members have remained with the centre, embodying the Montessori philosophy that a prepared adult is as crucial as a prepared environment. Kerri encourages all staff to engage in continuous learning and development.

After the significant changes the world has experienced over the

past three years, Kerri finally had the opportunity to visit family in Europe. One of the most striking positives she has observed is a renewed focus on community among children and families. During a visit to the Eden Project in Cornwall, UK, she also noticed a shift in awareness regarding sustainability and respect for the Earth.

However, challenges persist. Kerri identifies the acceptance of differing views and ideas as one of the most pressing issues today. Drawing from the principles of the circle of security, she believes the key to overcoming this challenge lies in being emotionally bigger, stronger, kinder, and wiser, all while maintaining one's own boundaries.

In conclusion, change is indeed inevitable, but positive evolution remains a conscious choice. Through her journey with Karinya Montessori Children’s House, Kerri exemplifies the power of embracing change as an opportunity for growth, both for individuals and communities. a www.karinyamontessori.com

MEET THE POWER TRIO BEHIND AMINYA ACADEMY

Looking for a holistic approach to health?

Look no further than AMINYA Natural Therapies Academy, the only school on the Sunshine Coast offering diplomas in a range of alternative health practices like aromatherapy, reflexology, and more. The academy has been given a fresh lease on life by three local women who took over less than a year ago and are already making waves nationally.

Alicia, who heads finance and admin, is not just crunching numbers; she’s also an aspiring aromatherapist. With 30 years of experience in accounting, she ensures AMINYA stays financially sound.

Chamilka, the go-to for marketing and student support, is an AMINYA alumna in kinesiology. She’s a beacon for women in their forties looking to pivot careers into natural health.

Then there’s Kym, the compliance and

training guru. A natural-born teacher and healer, Kym’s deep roots in the Sunshine Coast healing community and experience with Government Registered Training Organisations are helping AMINYA earn national kudos.

What sets AMINYA apart?

It’s one of the few schools still offering nationally accredited diplomas in aromatherapy and reflexology. This makes it

a magnet for students from all over Australia. As more people seek natural health solutions, these ladies are keen to grow a thriving academy right here on the health-conscious Sunshine Coast. Also, if you’re curious, they even run a student clinic offering massages and other treatments for just $40 an hour.

So, whether you’re looking to study or just unwind, AMINYA’s got you covered. a www.aminyaacademy.com.au

STRONG GROWTH ON AGENDA FOR RE-BRANDED LOCAL ACCOUNTING FIRM

One of the largest accounting and business advisory firms on the Sunshine Coast has undertaken a major rebrand as it looks to grow its client base and staff numbers.

Peta Grenfell and Brendon Murray have rebranded from Bentleys to create Grenfell Murray, a fully customised business advisory and accountancy services firm which focusses on their clients’ needs beyond their financial and business goals.

Peta commenced with Bentleys (formerly Peter Wilson and Associates) in 2005 while Brendon joined Bentleys in 2002 and moved to the Sunshine Coast office in 2017. The pair felt the time was right to create a business which truly reflects their mission: to help Sunshine Coast business owners achieve their financial as well as their life goals.

“We currently have a staff of 25 and each of our team members has a deep connection to the Sunshine Coast. Our goal is to provide all of our clients with the level of expertise you would get from a big city practice while being easily accessible to our team here on the Sunshine Coast,” Peta says.

“We feel trying to operate an accountancy practice in conjunction with a Brisbane or a national

firm just doesn’t work as well as being based locally where you can meet with the client and truly understand their needs. We also feel it’s important to contribute to the local community, which we do through our involvement with a number of organisations including LifeFlight, Compass and the Matthew Flinders College board.”

Brendon says Grenfell Murray will remain at their current location at 9 Nicklin Way Minyama and recruiting more staff is high on the agenda.

“We’ve got a great team, but we are always looking to add quality talent to our business and this includes senior accountants through to new graduates. There’s plenty of opportunities for us to grow and we are keen to find the right applicants who are committed to growing with our business,” Brendon says.

“As well as adding more staff, our goals over the next few years include: consolidation of our services with current clients, providing career development opportunities for our leaders, and increasing our commitment to local community activities.”

EYE CARE with Dr Karpa

COMMON EYELID CONDITIONS

Entropion and ectropion are two common eyelid conditions that can affect the health and comfort of the eyes.

Entropion is a condition where the eyelid turns inward, causing the eyelashes to rub against the cornea and conjunctiva. This can lead to irritation, redness, tearing, and a feeling of something being in the eye. Entropion can lead to corneal infection, permanent corneal scarring, and vision loss.

On the other hand, Ectropion is the opposite condition, where the eyelid turns outward, exposing the inner surface of the eyelid and leaving the eye more vulnerable to dryness and irritation. It can lead to excessive tearing, redness, and sensitivity to light.

Aging changes in the eyelids are the usual cause of entropion and ectropion. Both can also be caused by scarring, previous surgery or certain congenital factors. Ectropion may be caused by facial nerve palsy.

Both entropion and ectropion can be treated with surgical interventions to reposition and tighten the eyelids, restoring their normal position and function. If left untreated, these conditions can cause corneal damage and infection, leading to reduced vision or blindness, underscoring the importance of seeking medical attention if any symptoms are observed.

FINANCES UNDER CONTROL?

As I am sure you all are aware, increased interest rates and the general cost of living has been making life a little more difficult for many. While refinancing may be an option, there are other ways to get your finances under control without going through a full refinance.

1. Reprice your current loan with your broker or lender

For some customers who fulfil certain requirements, an option may be negotiating a lower rate with your current lender - called repricing. It’s generally a fast and simple process as only involves changing the interest rate and requires minimal paperwork and fees.

2. Consolidate loans

This is a tricky one and requires careful consideration to ensure you’re not worse off –so be careful.

3. Harness technology

Consider using apps to save money such as Shopback/Cashrewards, Frugl, and Half Price.

4. Research what you are paying

Compare your electricity, mobile phone, internet and subscription services with other offers on the market to get the best deal you can.

Remember if you need help, be proactive and ask for it before you get behind! ca

YOUR GUIDE TO HOMEOWNERSHIP AND REFINANCING

In the ever-changing world of finance, homeowners and aspiring homeowners often find themselves lost in a maze of interest rates, mortgage insurance, and refinancing options. Tony Gray, a seasoned mortgage broker and director of Complete Finance, is here to guide you through the complexities of the property market.

Complete Finance caters to a wide clientele, predominantly homeowners or those aspiring to be. Whether you're a first-time buyer, looking to refinance, or re-entering the property market after a hiatus, Tony and his team have the expertise to assist you.

With over 15 years of experience in the industry, Tony's knowledge and tailored advice make Complete Finance stand out. Clients often praise the team for their understanding and ability to find the best rates.

Often new clients approach Tony confused about the market and the current hot topic lately –interest rates. There have been 11 increases in the last 14 months; however, Tony believes we're reaching the top of the cycle, and rates may soon plateau or even reduce. His advice for those looking to refinance? Consider going variable or opting for a fixed rate, short-term loan.

The government's Home Guarantee Scheme is another exciting development. It allows buyers to purchase property with just a five per cent deposit without paying mortgage insurance, saving thousands. Even single parents can benefit, entering the market with as little as two per cent down.

Tony's long-standing experience, coupled with his dedication to helping clients achieve their goals, makes Complete Finance the go-to place for all your mortgage needs. The majority of their business comes from referrals, a testament to their quality service.

CHARITY BEGINS WITH COMMUNITY

You might already recognise the name Grant Smith – the well-known Sunny Coast Real Estate legend who's made waves locally for over two decades. But here's a glimpse of the man beyond the property world, his passions, and his giving heart.

Grant’s a true dynamo in the real estate arena, but did you know his heart beats for more than just deals? His first love is for his new husband Geoff, but Grant cherishes their furry family members, Frenchie Jacques and Italian Greyhound Valentino too. The love for animals shines through their support for the Sunshine Coast Animal Refuge (SCARS), a cause close to their hearts as they help rebuild the refuge's dog facilities.

Beyond properties, Grant’s got a knack for supporting the community. He’s been a steadfast sponsor of the Buderim Ladies Bowls Club for over two decades, playing a crucial role in backing their sport and success. Grant and his real estate empire, Century 21 Grant Smith Property, don’t just offer

financial support to charities; they invest their time and expertise in causes they're passionate about.

Grant’s commitment to giving back has deep roots. Despite his successful image, his beginnings were far from privileged. Raised by a strong and resilient mother, Carmen, Grant knows the value of supporting others. His core values of integrity, resilience, and success were instilled by Carmen and shared with his siblings.

Grant’s life involves many roles – a real estate virtuoso, a devoted pet parent, a community pillar, and a man who knows that giving back is part of living a fulfilled life. His aspiration is to make every client feel valued and appreciated, a sentiment he lives and breathes. Grant Smith, beyond the real estate fame, is a testament that success isn’t just measured in deals; it’s also in the lives touched and the hearts enriched. a

Frequently asked questions

Q. How many panels can I fit on my roof?

A. As many as you reasonably can, within what's allowed and practical.

Q. What size solar PV (photo voltaic) system should I get?

A. This depends on your electrical consumption, the unshaded area available for panels, and your budget.

Q. How long does the connection process take?

A. A 5KW inverter can be approved in 24 to 48 hours. Anything over 5KW may take up to 65 working days.

Q. Who does the meter change?

A. Your solar retailer will handle this, especially if it's a new build.

Q. What extra costs should I consider?

A. Be aware of potential extra costs like meter change, switchboard upgrades, tree removal, or site preparation.

Q. How long will a solar panel last?

A. Most panels have up to a 25-year performance guarantee, with a lifetime expectancy of 40 years.

Q. What are STCs?

A. Small-scale Technology Certificates (STCs) are government incentives that help reduce the upfront cost of your solar PV system.

Q. When should I change my retailer?

A. Don't change retailers until after your installation is complete, or it may delay the process by 45-60 days.

Your warranties

Panel and inverter warranties are covered by the manufacturer, with most inverters having a 10-year warranty and most panels a 25-year warranty.

SPRING CLEANING

According to the latest official release from the Australian Bureau of Statistics, in 2017-18, two thirds (67 per cent) of Australians 18 years and over were overweight or obese. It’s about time…

Spring is the best time to correct weight issues! You can do it!

Clean up your body and lose those extra kilos. Improve body composition and optimise mental, emotional and physical wellbeing. Make time this Spring to initiate sustainable long-term change. The achievement of an optimal weight produces many positive outcomes including:

• Happier days and nights

• More energy and endurance

• Lower blood pressure

• Lower levels of triglycerides

• Less risk of heart disease

• Improved mobility and reduced pain

• Better sex and less erectile dysfunction

• Improved mood

• Better sleep

• Higher self-esteem

• Improved insulin resistance

• Lower risk for multiple cancers

The facts

The above statistic of 67 per cent is predicted to jump even higher over the next ten years. Those who are overweight or obese are most likely to develop chronic health conditions such as diabetes, cardiovascular disease, liver or kidney disease. Complications from viruses are also a serious threat.

Getting started

• Establish a Road Map

First of all you have to know where you’re going. Write down your goals and why you want to achieve them. Know where you want to be and plan your way to get there. Review these goals regularly to make sure you are staying on track. Establish SMART goals that are Specific, Measurable, Attainable and Relevant, and be sure to set a Timeframe.

• Engage a Mentor

Consult with a qualified practitioner to help you make the right food choices and select the best exercise program for you. The creation of an individual plan will help you develop better habits, nourish your body and establish a satisfying and enjoyable lifestyle.

• Empower your mind

Proactively address the emotional drivers behind destructive eating habits to accelerate success in achieving weight loss goals. Emotional weight can be a metaphorical protection layer creating a physical barrier between us and the rest of the world. It can keep us safe.

• Educate yourself

The human body is made by design to win. All we have to do is provide it with the right conditions. Get assessed and educated by a qualified practitioner. Study the human body to make sure that nothing is out of balance.

• Effective, consistent and organised

Your aim is to keep it simple, effective and consistent. Being organised is the key to unlocking your potential. Review your plans weekly and follow them daily. Chart and reward your progress along the way, as this can be very motivating to keep you on track!

• Encountering obstacles

Like many others, you are likely to encounter obstacles on your path to better health and lasting weight loss. Some will be predictable, while others may come out of the blue. Instead of censuring yourself, be proactive and positive! Problem solving techniques will help you to change your behaviours and create solutions for challenges that crop up.

• Check thyroid function

It is always a good idea to do a blood test before you start. Check thyroid function, glucose, insulin and other blood chemistries as a starting point. Share the results with your naturopath, who may recommend certain nutrients to help speed up your metabolism.

• Do a retreat

If you need help to establish healthy lifestyle habits, you can always visit us at Living Valley Health Retreat to implement the initial steps and establish beneficial habits for lasting changes.

It’s about lasting, sustainable change to your physical and mental wellness. So, remember, in order to take the first step, make sure you have set yourself up to make the journey easier through implementing these simple strategies before you start.

By implementing these strategies, you will achieve lasting sustainable change to your physical and mental wellness while creating lasting weight loss. The team at Living Valley can provide ongoing programs to help keep you on track. a

TRANSITION TO RETIREMENT STRATEGY UNVEILED

If you're on the sunny path towards retirement and wondering how to make the most of your superannuation, a Transition to Retirement (TTR) strategy might just be the golden ticket.

Imagine easing into retirement without sacrificing your lifestyle. That's where TTR comes in. It's like a gentle bridge between full-time work and blissful retirement. With a TTR strategy, you can access a portion of your super while still working. The pension payments you draw could allow you to work part-time hours whilst maintaining the same overall level of income. This means more financial flexibility and the chance to enjoy the fruits of your labour a little earlier.

One of the shining perks is tax savings. By replacing a portion of your salary with a TTR pension, you could potentially pay less tax. Plus, if you choose to continue working full-time, a TTR strategy could afford you the ability to make tax effective contributions to super and boost your retirement savings.

TTR isn't just about numbers; it's about empowering you to embrace your changing lifestyle. Think about the ability to reduce work hours without the fear of depleting your savings. It's like having your cake and eating it too.

Of course, like any financial strategy, it's important to consider your individual circumstances. Our warm and straightforward

approach ensures that we tailor your TTR plan to fit your unique goals and needs. We believe in making financial advice understandable and relatable – no jargon, just clear communication.

So, if you're eyeing that tranquil beachside retirement while still cherishing your career, a TTR strategy could be your financial compass. We're here to guide you, ensuring your money journey feels just as warm and inviting as the Sunshine Coast itself. ca

WHERE DID THE LAST 17 YEARS GO?

Is it just me, or have the last 17 years gone really quickly? I can still remember when Vickie took over Business Matters Magazine. It’s been a pleasure watching it morph into greatness and then into Matters Magazine, encompassing more than just business information.

Congratulations Vickie and Magic on a job well done, we will miss you!

Sitting here reflecting on the business that is now Matters Magazine, I’m thinking about all the functions that would have had to have happened to create such an outcome and the amount of people who would have been involved.

Every business owner by nature wears ten hats when they start a business:

• Shareholder

• Director

• Leadership

• Product/Service Development

• Operations

• Marketing

• Sales

• Finance

• HR

• Admin/It

Wow! I’m exhausted even thinking about running all those functions. That is why a team is so essential.

It usually takes a while for the business owner to realise that they can’t wear so many hats and to learn how to create procedures and delegate the roles that are not best suited to them.

One of the first roles is generally finance, which in a lot of cases is delegated to a long-suffering spouse.

Is delegating your finances to your spouse the best outcome for your business?

Unless your spouse is a bookkeeper or accountant (or has been in the past), chances are that bookkeeping is not their natural habitat and they are actually quite stressed by looking after this side of the business for you. They don’t want to muck it up, they are afraid of the ATO and the consequences and ultimately, they don’t want to let you down, so they keep doing this role, even though they secretly hate it!

Have I made you think? These are some of the comments we get from a number of our clients who are more than willing to pass over this side of the business.

The benefits of using a Professional Bookkeeper (who is a BAS Agent) are:

• They are generally quicker at doing the work.

• They know what to allocate where.

• They look for better systems to improve your efficiency.

• You get timely information that you know is correct.

• You benefit from their years of experience looking at other people’s business to help improve yours.

Here at the Bookkeeper Hub, we do things a bit differently. Not only do we do your bookkeeping, payroll and BAS returns, but we also provide monthly reports with a video commentary explaining how things are going and pointing out the good, bad and the ugly about your business performance.

If you would like to explore our service, please reach out. ca

Every business owner by nature wears ten hats when they start a business...

Firstly, I’d like to thank Vickie and Magic for running such an amazing magazine for the last 17 years. Here at HBA Encompass, we have been involved for at least 10 years and have always found you amazing to work with. Your care for the local community and creating networks and friendships is noticed.

It’s a funny thing thinking about networks and friendships. I’m sure many of you have heard of the six degrees of separation between all humans on earth, I believe it’s less these days with social media as well. I know I’ve met people in the most random places around Australia and around the world who knows someone I know!

This means it’s essential on both a business and personal level that we don’t burn bridges. From time to time, we have had clients leave HBA Encompass. Whilst we are not happy about them leaving, we usually understand their reasoning and always assist the transition to new accountants. What is quite interesting is the number who make their way back to us. Sometimes it’s a short term move for a specific purpose, sometimes it’s thinking the grass is greener on the other side. Whatever the reason, we are always happy to welcome them back.

My question to you is: Do you make it easy for your clients or customers to come back?

People usually change providers for one of three reasons:

• Lack of service

• Poor quality work

• Price

This list is in order, lack of service will always deter clients much more than a price increase. We’ve always prided ourselves that we are able to communicate with our clients on a timely basis and to assist them in whatever their need or desires are.

Poor quality work is either due to lack of skills/knowledge or a rushed job, both of which can be avoided with proper planning and training. In fact, we have started scheduling our business clients’ tax work to spread the load throughout the year and to ensure we have capacity to meet our deadline expectations.

A speaker at a seminar recently advised us all just to increase our prices by 10 per cent and that the majority of clients would be okay with it, some would leave but the sales from those that left would be less than the increase in fees from those that stayed. It’s an interesting concept. How long since you have increased your prices?

Knowing how much you need to sell your product for and how much you need to sell in order to create your financial and lifestyle objectives is paramount for any business.

If you need any help with this, feel free to reach out to HBA Encompass. ca

UNLOCKING A HEALTHY WORKPLACE: Tackling psychosocial hazards head-on

In the ever-evolving landscape of workplace safety, Queensland is the latest jurisdiction to adopt Safe Work Australia’s progressive model Code of Practice and Regulations on managing psychosocial hazards at work. It’s a leap towards all employers prioritising the mental health of their workforce.

So, what exactly are these psychosocial hazards, and how can businesses navigate this new terrain?

Peering into psychosocial hazards: beyond the obvious

Picture this: an office where deadlines loom larger than life, control feels like a mirage and colleagues barely exchange more than monosyllabic pleasantries. These are just a few layers of the intricate web of psychosocial hazards that can quietly erode employee morale and overall well-being.

A psychosocial hazard is a hazard in the design or management of work that increases the risks of psychological harm. These include:

• Job demands

Balancing demands can be tricky. Excessive workloads, fatigue and prolonged work pressures contribute but so does lack of work, stimulation and feeling useless.

• Low job control

Freedom to control your work can be empowering, but low job control, feeling like a mere cog in the wheel, can lead to poor motivation and stress.

• Support and clarity

Low role clarity or inadequate support can lead to confusion, feeling lost and unappreciated.

• Connections

Harmonious workplaces are built on good relationships. Poor relationships at work cause stress and a lack of desire to work.

• Isolation

Isolation can lead to detachment and loneliness and is very relevant in the new world of working from home.

• Environmental factors

Poorly designed and/or messy workspaces,

including poor natural lighting/ventilation and lack of green space, can negatively impact on employee mental health.

• Unwanted behaviour

Bullying/harassment and poor management of unacceptable workplace behaviour poison the work environment, eroding mental wellbeing.

Some employees are more susceptible to a psychological injury, including new and young employees, and employees who have a disability or illness.

A blueprint for prevention: navigating the new norm

Queensland's stride towards embracing the Code of Practice marks a turning point in WH&S, and employers must adopt it with open arms. Here's a four-point blueprint to assist:

1. Identify psychosocial hazards

Employers must be alert and open to identifying psychosocial hazards. It's not just about safety goggles, it’s also gauging work/ life balance, assessing working hours, avoiding conflicting information being provided, identifying and acting upon inappropriate behaviours.

2. Assess the risk of each identified hazard

Employers must assess the severity/ likelihood of harm from the psychosocial hazard, the effectiveness of mitigation mechanisms and how urgently controls need to be implemented.

3. Risk control

Armed with assessment insights, employers must implement mechanisms to eliminate/ minimise risks to a psychological injury as much as reasonably practicable. They need to consider the exposure to psychosocial hazards,

design and systems of work, environmental conditions (including facilities for employee welfare) and workplace interactions or behaviours.

To properly discharge the duty of care, employers must ensure workers are provided with appropriate training, instruction, and supervision.

4. Maintain and review control measures

The journey doesn’t end with implementation. Employers must vigilantly ensure the chosen controls are fit for the purpose, nature and duration of the work and can be utilised correctly. Continuous evaluation is key.

Embracing the challenge: beyond obligation to opportunity

The realm of psychosocial hazards is not a mere checklist to be ticked off, it’s an opportunity for employers to foster a safe workplace thriving on psychological wellbeing. Beyond the legal obligation lies the potential to unleash productivity, innovation and loyalty from employees.

If you’re navigating this uncharted territory, or have any employment law issues you are unsure about, please don’t hesitate to contact one of Aitken Legal’s specialist employment lawyers. a

IS YOUR BACK GETTING ON YOUR NERVES?

Back pain is a big deal in Australia, affecting two million people each year. Dr. David Hendrey, a seasoned chiropractor from Lake Kawana, says it’s not just the person with the pain who suffers; the whole family feels it. The toll? Pain, less productivity, and heaps of stress.

What’s causing this uptick in back issues? Stress is a major culprit, according to Dr. Hendrey. When stressed, our bodies go into fight-orflight mode, releasing hormones like cortisol and adrenaline. This messes with our heart rate, breathing, and even our digestive and immune systems. If stress becomes chronic, it can wreak havoc on our spine and nerves.

Chiropractic care can't remove the stressors in your life, but it can help ease the tension in your body. Your spine is like a well-designed building, made of 24 movable bones connected

by ligaments, muscles, and discs. Stress, poor posture, and injuries can make it stiffen up, causing all sorts of problems.

Hendrey Chiropractic is wellequipped to diagnose these issues, boasting the latest in Direct Digital X-ray tech and digital postural exams. Dr. Hendrey says patients appreciate the one-stop-shop for spinal care. Knowing exactly what’s wrong helps tailor the treatment.

Wondering if you’ve got a spinal issue? Common signs include aches, headaches, sore necks, and stiffness. If this sounds like you, give Hendrey Chiropractic a call. Mention “Vickie sent you in,” and your first visit, including any necessary x-rays, is just $75.

RECLAIM YOUR LIFE WITH THE FEMININE CONNECTION

Are you a woman in your thirties or beyond, grappling with the emotional turmoil of a divorce or breakup?

Are you feeling lost, overwhelmed, and unsure about the future?

Kylie Chivers, the founder of The Feminine Connection, has been there, and she’s on a mission to help you reclaim your life.

Kylie’s journey is one of resilience and empowerment. Prior to navigating a challenging divorce, she weathered the setback of losing more than $1 Million in business disputes and confronted the loss of her hair due to alopecia. Today, she’s a successful entrepreneur, real estate investor, and a loving mother to three amazing kids. Her life is a testament to what’s possible when you shift your mindset and focus on moving forward.

The Feminine Connection offers a three-month mentorship program designed to guide you through the emotional rollercoaster that often accompanies life-changing events like divorce. The program

is structured around three stages, each containing four vital steps to help you gain clarity and change the narrative of your life. Kylie’s approach is about reconnecting you to your inner feminine, rediscovering the joy and passion that often get sidelined when life gets busy.

You can trust Kylie because she’s not just speaking from personal experience; she’s also spent years training with global leaders in personal growth. Her unique blend of fierce determination and feminine grace creates a potent environment for transformation.

Debunking the myths: moving forward after divorce

One of the biggest misconceptions about going through a divorce or breakup is that you have to be ‘ready’ to move on. The truth is, waiting until you ‘feel ready’ might keep you stuck in a cycle of negative emotions. Kylie strongly believes that your thoughts dictate how you feel. You have the power to choose what you focus on, and with the right guidance, you can turn your life around.

You have the power to choose what you focus on ... you can turn your life around.

Kylie’s pivotal moment came when her divorce brought her to her knees. She felt broken, unlovable, and questioned almost everything in life. But instead of letting that define her, she chose to rise. She wanted to be an example to her children, especially her two daughters, showing them that it’s possible to bounce back and find love again.

Her advice? Be cautious about where you seek guidance. While friends and family mean well, it’s often best to consult an expert who has walked the talk. Kylie’s soul’s purpose is to see you succeed, and she has the skills and experience to make that happen.

If you’re navigating the emotional maze of a divorce or breakup, don’t do it alone. Reach out for expert support.

Kylie is offering Matters Magazine readers a FREE 30-minute discovery call to discuss your needs and see if you're a fit to work together. You can also attend her FREE monthly masterclass to gain valuable insights into moving forward.

So, are you ready to take control of your life? With Kylie’s help, you can not only survive, but thrive, turning your heartbreak into a stepping-stone for a more fulfilling life. It’s time to discover your fierce, feminine radiance with The Feminine Connection. a Call // 0400 012 129

In the midst of my panic and distress, Michelle provided me with clear and empathetic advice over the phone and for the first time since my separation I could see a clear way forward for me and my children. The family and domestic violence legal matters I have been involved in have been some of the most harrowing, heartbreaking and humiliating experiences of my life. Because of this, it was very important to me that my family lawyer could listen to my story without judging me, and to know that I could trust her to give me the best possible advice, even when it wasn’t always what I wanted to hear at the time. While I continued to struggle with the emotional fallout of my separation and the subsequent upheaval to my life and the lives of my children, Michelle was a calm, clear, and dependable person in my life whom I trusted to give me accurate information, objective and non-judgemental advice, and who could keep an eye on the bigger picture when I was caught up “sweating the small stuff”.

“X” invited my children and I to a fun day at “Y’s” kindy yesterday, I had all five kids for the weekend, so off we went and although I was nervous, we all enjoyed a great day. I thanked “X” for inviting us when we were leaving and she said, she felt at ease with the whole situation and praised me on what good boys I had (she spent some time with my sons doing some crafts) I got a bit teary (thank god for sunglasses haha) and she said how good it was we could share Y’s special day… She even rang “Z” this morning and told him what lovely children I have feeling happy and positive about the future and feel you have had a role in this Michelle. FROM THE SUNSHINE COAST TO GLOBAL IMPACT:

In the heart of the Sunshine Coast, a remarkable international organisation is shining a light of hope into the darkest corners of the world. Destiny Rescue, founded on the Coast, has achieved an incredible though bittersweet milestone this year – 13,000 lives rescued from the clutches of human trafficking.

Destiny Rescue's unwavering commitment to its mission has led to international raids that span across continents. These daring operations have resulted in freeing thousands of children who were trapped in the horrors of sex trafficking and exploitation. In many cases, the rescue teams work with local law enforcement agencies to arrest the perpetrators and shut down offending operators and venues.

However, Destiny Rescue's work doesn't end with rescue

missions. What truly sets them apart is their holistic approach to after-care. They understand that true healing involves more than physical freedom and so with each rescue comes the opportunity for a safe and nourishing environment, appropriate counselling, support tools, and medical care to help these children rebuild their lives.

While 13,000 rescues is a remarkable milestone, Destiny Rescue knows the battle is far from over. Human trafficking continues to plague our world and extends to the online world, with countless innocent lives still at risk. This organisation is determined to press on, to rescue more children, and to break the chains of exploitation.

As Destiny Rescue continues to forge ahead, you have the power to help them make a difference.

FAREWELL FROM OUR...

readers, advertisers and locals alike who share their tributes, expressing gratitude for the magazine’s engaging content over the past 17 years.

I want to commend Vickie and Magic for their hard work, passion and commitment to local businesses through the magazine. They have provided us a platform to showcase our businesses and provide great quality business information and insights. It’s definitely the end of an era and I’m pleased to have been in the first and the last issue of the mag!

Such a wonderful icon on the Sunshine Coast, you both have worked tirelessly to create such a success.

It has been wonderful being a part of the community Vickie and Magic have built to support Sunshine Coast businesses. I have not only been connected to ideal clients through my regular articles, but also to other businesses, spawning many powerful collaborations. The magazine will continue to leave a legacy as it remains in business offices, waiting rooms and other public places around the Coast. Thank you.

For so many people, Matters Magazine has been the go-to in supporting Sunshine Coast local businesses. Vickie and Magic, your contribution to support businesses and brilliant editorials will be missed.

Massive congratulations Vickie on what you have done with the magazine over the years!

We are sorry to see this is the last edition and thank you for what you have done over the years for the community and sharing the stories of so many local businesspeople and generally

Wow. End of an era for sure. Business Matters Magazine was instrumental in my early days in business on the Coast, both with the networking and the content in the mag. I remember Vickie sitting in my home office (ahem… garage) maybe 10 years ago and coaching me on differentiation and brand messaging instead of selling me on advertising (as I assumed she was supposed to be doing). Well done Vickie and Magic on an incredible and indelible impact on the Sunshine Coast business community.

What a contribution Vickie, Magic and your team have given the Sunshine Coast over the past 17 years! A mammoth effort and enormous dedication and commitment. You are amazing. I wish you all the very best with your new chapter going forward. I know you will continue to shine no matter what.

Congratulations Vickie Magic on your 17 years producing Matters Magazine and being deeply entrenched in local business and community.

As they say, “All good things must come to an end.” Wishing you all the best for your future! End of an era! You’ve both been so loved and so valued and will be missed. D xx.

I just wanted to take a moment to thank you and Magic for allowing me to photograph for you and some amazing covers. The conversations I have had with some of your advertisers over the last month have been so heartwarming. You really did create an amazing community around what you do. I’m so glad that I have got to know you better through the process and it’s such an honour to be part of Matters Magazine.

YOUR AUTHENTIC STORY CAN CHANGE THE WORLD!

Now, that’s not a small statement, that’s a massive statement, but I know it to be true.

We don’t have to jump from tall buildings or leap over skyscrapers like superman, we just have to share our story authentically, sounds easy right?

But there are things that hold you back. If you are among the 90 per cent of people I’ve worked with over the years, you have:

• A lack of confidence when it comes to writing, even though you may be an otherwise confident person!

• You haven’t found your voice or the strength of your message yet.

• Questions like, ‘Who’s going to listen to me anyway?’ ‘Who am I to write a book?’ eat you up at night.

Which is tragic because it means your selfdoubt rules and your story dies with you. The world doesn’t get to read the gifts that you have extracted from your life. Your experiences don’t fulfil the purpose they were meant to.

My intention for you is that you are willing to say “Yes!” to taking the next step in embracing your authentic self, connecting to your message and using it to transform not only yourself, but readers around the world!

When you decide to take the leap and write your own book, there are three core components - all of which are covered in my award-winning book The Mindful Authorthat are vital to set you on the path for success in your writing journey.

1. Authenticity

In this era when everyone’s BS radars are finely tuned, readers can smell insincerity a mile away. Be brave enough to step up and share this authentic story, never feel like you have to be a Brene Brown or Brendan Burchard clone in order to be taken seriously – there are people out there who need to hear your story in your words!

2. Connection

Connection lies at the core of every book that has shaped who you are over the years. The key is to create a book that connects as strongly with your core message, values, and beliefs as it does with your readers’. When you do this, they will feel like they know you and this leads to trust. Connection to yourself, your story and your audience is key.

3. Transformation

Becoming an author is about so much more than simply slapping words between two covers – those who can align their personal story with their business goals have the potential to unlock new opportunities. The potential to leverage your book to become an industry commentator, a renowned leader, a sought-after consultant, and even a speaker on a global scale is limitless – you can take it as far as you want to.

If you are tired of telling yourself you will write your book ‘one day,’ the Ignite & Write Workshop can provide you with solid foundations for your writing journey.

Want to have an award-winning professional on your team to write it for you? Let’s chat about how I can work alongside you as your ghostwriter to craft an engaging and powerful book that sells and connects you to your ideal client.
