MS Teams and OneNote 4-Part Online Training Series

Microsoft Teams and OneNote are powerful tools for communication, collaboration, and organization—if you know how to use them to their full potential. These two programs have quickly become essential in the modern workplace, yet many professionals only scratch the surface of what they can do. Teams streamlines communication, replaces endless email threads, and centralizes your files, meetings, and project updates all in one place. OneNote serves as your digital notebook, keeping ideas, meeting notes, and to-do lists organized and easy to find. Together, they can transform how you work—helping you collaborate more effectively, stay organized, and save time every single day. This training series will show you how to get the most out of these tools so you can work smarter, not harder.

You can register for individual sessions or the entire series, and each session attended earns you 2 Master Builder Designation (MBD) credits in Project Management. As an exclusive member benefit, MBI members can attend at no additional cost, while non-members are welcome to join for a fee.

This live, online training via Zoom is led by David Mills of ZenTek Consultants, who brings a construction background and uses examples directly relevant to the construction industry.

Presenter

David Mills has been working within the construction industry for nearly a decade. He has developed commercial and healthcare projects ranging from $100,000 to $100,000,000+, while working in various positions, including Estimator, Project Engineer, Field Engineer, and Assistant Project Manager. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he was an Owner’s Representative on a large healthcare campus in Michigan. This project had several Construction Managers on it using different software products, which Mr. Mills successfully taught team members to use efficiently.

Mr. Mills joined ZenTek Consultants as a Technology Specialist in early 2023. During his time at ZenTek, he has developed custom solutions and training for clients, as well as written numerous articles and blogs on using Bluebeam and Procore efficiently. His knowledge of software does not end at Bluebeam and Procore, as he is proficient in Microsoft Office, Revit, PlanSwift, PlanGrid, Smartsheet, Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator.

Discover how to replace email clutter with conversation tools and team chat, work with files directly in Teams, and make the most of meetings. You’ll also explore video and audio features, channelbased email controls, and how to use Wiki and apps to simplify your daily workflow.

SESSION THREE: UNLOCKING THE POWER OF TEAMS

October 15, 2025 | 9:00am - 11:00am

Master Builder Designation: Project Management - 2 credits

Take your Teams skills to the next level by creating meeting notes and agendas, assigning tasks, and using Planner for better project management. Learn to set up approval requests, follow best practices, and integrate additional apps to make your teamwork more efficient.

SESSION FOUR: MASTERING YOUR NOTES IN ONENOTE

October 22, 2025 | 9:00am - 11:00am

Master Builder Designation: Project Management - 2 credits

Learn how to make OneNote your go-to digital notebook. Understand the differences between OneNote desktop and its Teams integration, create and share notebooks, and organize them with pages and tabs. Explore formatting tools, templates, lists, drawing features, and advanced search to keep your notes organized and accessible.

The Master Builder Designation program will offer credits for completion of this course. For more information on becoming a ‘Master Builder’, please visit MBI’s website at www.MBI.Build/mbd.

Cancellation Policy: Registration cancellations must be submitted to Master Builders of Iowa via email to NFry@MBI.Build. Cancellation requests submitted at least 14 days prior to the start of this program will be refunded 100%. Cancellations received between 7 and 14 days prior to the start of this program will be refunded 50%. No refund for cancellations less than 7 days prior to the start of this program. No refund for no-shows.
