I worked on these projects from the Schematic Design phase through Construction Documents. My responsibilities included 3D modeling, drafting, rendering, and coordination with the owner and consultants.

06. Grace Peck Terrace Renovation
Project Site: Portland OR
Client: Home Forward
Contribution: Job Captain, DD phase through CA phase
Emplyoment: Studio Petretti Architecture
Collaborator: Holst Architecture
Project Year: 2021 - 2024
This was my rst project at Studio Petretti Architecture. The existing building, designed by SERA Architects, was constructed in the early 1980s. Studio Petretti collaborated with Holst Architecture, with Holst responsible for the exterior renovation and Studio Petretti designing the entire interior. Our scope included all 96 residential units, the community room, and the public kitchen.
08. Phoenix Artists’ Condo Proposal
Project Year: 2015
The competition called for 8 to 18 units to accommodate artists for living and creating, with a gallery space as a requirement. I solely designed this artist apartment and gallery.
Located in a low-crime area, the design features abundant open spaces that connect the inner and outer yards. This layout encourages communication and interaction among the artists.
Scale 1 / 350
The design is inspired by the work of Donald Judd, known for his minimalist concrete boxes without titles. The form of his work corresponds to (a). By bending the form of (a) by 90 degrees, form (b) is created. Further, form (c) is generated by uplifting one edge of the box to reach the second- oor level. Form (d) combines (b) and (c), featuring both a 90-degree bend and an elevated edge.
The design is based on a simple principle: warm air inside the house rises into the upper space and exits through windows at the top.
Simulation of wind ow in an Ordinary House
This design is based on a simple principle: warm air inside the house rises and exits through windows on the upper oors, drawing fresh air in through the entrance on the rst oor.
By leveraging this natural air ow, the house design promotes energy e ciency and reduces environmental impact. Given Phoenix’s hot summers and mild winters, the design primarily focuses on optimizing comfort during the summer months.
Energy Sustainability
This apartment design is rooted in a primitive yet sustainable concept. While modern technology allows us to harness solar, geothermal, and water energy, my focus was on wind—not to generate power, but to promote natural ventilation. Air enters through the main entrance and ows through the building like a tube, exiting on the opposite side. I intentionally avoided using solar panels, as their production and disposal can also harm the environment. In a technology-driven society, this design invites us to reconsider and reconnect with nature.
Design Concept
This project was proposed not only to address the need for multi-family housing, but also to promote sustainable design in Phoenix. To enhance the living environment, the plan incorporates a semi-open inner yard that serves as a community space. This courtyard gradually transitions into the surrounding exterior space, helping the building integrate with the neighborhood rather than dominate it.
Located in a low-crime suburban area of Phoenix, the design avoids creating a closed-off community. A local survey revealed a lack of multi-family housing options, with most developments catering to single families. As a result, special attention was given to ensuring the building is neighbor-friendly and positively received by the surrounding community.
The design is also inspired by minimalist artist Donald Judd, particularly his untitled concrete box sculptures. These forms influenced the foundational concept of the project. (See design diagram to the left.)

When designing an apartment for this area, it was important to create a comfortable living space for each resident while also fostering a meaningful sense of community. The design aims to o er not just individual comfort, but also a shared environment where people can live together with a sense of connection and purpose.

09. Creminas Fortress Conversion Proposal
Project Year: 2016
This is a competition proposal for the rehabilitation of the Fortress of Cresmina in Cascais, Portugal, which I solely designed.
The historic fortress has a hexagonal layout with stone boundary walls—about half of which remain intact, while the rest are in ruins. My proposal envisioned transforming the site into an art center, preserving all existing walls in accordance with strict conservation requirements that prohibited any relocation or alteration.

During the 17th and 18th centuries, in order to strengthen the defense of the Tagus bar, nine fortifications and batteries protected the approach to Lisbon, the Tagus bar and the Lisbon harbor. Its main objective was the quartering of small garrisons that hindered the landing of enemy forces, while alarming the reinforced critical points in the defense of Lisbon. The Fortress of Cresmina is an example of military architecture, isolated, on a rocky point of a cli , on the southern edge of the Cresmina beach. It was one of the fortresses for strengthening the coastline of defense, each located in the most strategic areas. From 1795 the Fortress of Cresmina began to lose its military signi cance and was disabled in the nineteenth century when the artillery was removed and the fortress was abandoned. The Fortress of Cresmina has a polygonal plan with six sides of di erent dimensions. The quarter and powder storehouse were located at the rear. Access was made through a single door and there are still traces of two small rectangular spaces and the pavement slabs are still visible. Currently vacant, the Fortress of Cresmina is in advanced state of ruin.
Study Model
Each space is distinguished by the difference of the floor level (2.1 meters difference from the artist pavilion to the works shop space at the first floor. This simple manupulation of the space give characters to each space and the whole part of the art center.
Given the fortress’s hexagonal layout, the design aimed to enhance and preserve its original spatial character. Maintaining the hexagonal form was essential to the renovation. By placing a central column at the barycenter of the hexagon, large cantilevered roofs could span the structure, sheltering all rooms with minimal vertical supports—limited only to the corners.
Special care was taken to preserve the atmosphere of the ruins. As a result, the height of the new construction was kept in line with the existing walls. Exposed concrete was selected as the primary nish, allowing the new elements to harmonize with the texture and tone of the original stonework.

The gallery and lobby spaces are designed to host exhibitions. As artists will be invited to stay and create their work on-site, their artwork will also be displayed in these areas.

11. Parklet
Project Year: 2016 - 2019
I have been a member of YES (You Experience Studio) in Spokane since 2016. During this time, I contributed to ve parklet projects installed throughout the streets of Spokane.
My role included design development, presentations, hands-on construction, and legal consultation. Each project aimed to reclaim portions of the car-dominated downtown streetscape and transform them into more pedestrian-friendly public spaces.

The history of the parklets in Spokane started here - we have also educated people in Garland Street Fair by exhibiting the same parklet. This also persuaded the City to pass the bill to allow people to build and install parklet on the public roads in Spokane.
