Our Mission

A Word from the Co-Founder / General Director

Mrs. Omaya Zamel

Dear MAS Family,

As we navigate an era marked by rapid technological advancements and the transformative power of artificial intelligence, our commitment to staying at the forefront of educational innovation remains unwavering. At the Modern American School, we recognize that integrating cutting-edge technologies, including AI, into our teaching and learning processes is essential to equip our students with the skills needed to thrive in a dynamic, interconnected world.

Our dedicated faculty continues to leverage state-of-the-art resources and innovative teaching methods to inspire curiosity and empower learners to become responsible global citizens. We believe that artificial intelligence and other advanced technologies, when thoughtfully integrated, enhance personalized learning experiences, broaden horizons, and prepare our students to face the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead successfully.

Thank you for your ongoing trust and support as we strive to provide an education that not only meets today’s standards but also anticipates tomorrow’s needs. Together, let us continue to inspire, innovate, and elevate learning experiences for our students.

Wishing you an inspiring and successful year ahead.

Back- to -School, Back to Giving

On August 16, we welcomed fifty orphaned children from Hussein Refugee Camp to our school as part of the Back- toSchool Drive. We prepared school bags and stationery for them and organized a fun entertainment program, including games, laughter, and ice cream treats. Seeing their smiles reminded me how small acts of kindness can make a big difference and how giving back brings joy to everyone involved.

Induction Program

The Induction Program we conduct in August is a thoughtfully crafted orientation designed to seamlessly integrate new educators into our dynamic school community. This program plays a pivotal role in welcoming and equipping them to begin their teaching journey with confidence.

Beyond providing essential guidance for newcomers, the Induction Program includes collaborative sessions that unite all teachers, promoting a culture of teamwork and a shared sense of purpose as they collectively plan for the upcoming academic year.

These collaborative opportunities encourage experienced and new educators to engage in meaningful dialogue, exchange best practices, and align their instructional strategies, thereby strengthening the overall unity of our teaching staff. Through interactive workshops, discussions, and activities, educators gain a deeper understanding of what it means to be part of our school, reinforcing a sense of belonging and commitment to our shared goals.

The Modern American School recently hosted its annual Open House, reflecting its mission to foster strong relationships among all members of the school community—an essential foundation for our students’ wellbeing, growth, and development. During the event, parents were welcomed to an introduction and information session that highlighted the academic programs and extracurricular activities that shape students’ educational journey throughout the year.

Orientation Session

The Academic and College counseling department held academic orientations for grades 9-12. The goal is to make students feel comfortable and prepared, and provide them with the tools and resources they need to succeed.

AI Workshop

During student-led lab sessions, students took full responsibility for planning and carrying out the experiment. They worked collaboratively with their peers to organize materials, assign roles, and decide how to record and analyze their data. Each group communicated effectively to make observations, troubleshoot procedures, and ensure accurate results. By leading their own investigation, students demonstrated independence, teamwork, and critical thinking—taking ownership of their learning while practicing essential scientific skills.

As the new leaders of Poetry Café, we, Loren Shawabkeh and Fatima Al Sabah, were excited to welcome students back this year in Mr. Mamoun's class. The room became a cozy café, with Uncle Osaka coffee, candles, and treats like cookies and brownies.
