LEAF COLLECTION & TREE BRANCHES

The Borough will begin collecting leaves in October and will continue into December, weather permitting. The truck will be around on a daily basis, weather permitting, to pickup the leaves. Residents are asked to rake leaves into the street, a foot or so away from the curb or edge of pavement. Piles should not exceed three feet in height and four feet in width. Piles that contain tree branches or any other debris WILL NOT BE PICKED UP until the debris is removed. Debris damages equipment and repairs are costly. Residents are also asked to park vehicles or trailers in their driveways. If it is not possible to park in your driveways, a vehicle or trailer should be parked away from the piles of leaves. Leaf piles blocked by vehicles or contractor material will not be picked up

until the following pickup, providing the obstruction has been removed. Leaves which are raked into the street after the equipment has passed will not be picked up until the next pickup day.

The owner of the property is responsible to trim branches from any shade tree overhanging the streets and highway of the Borough so that they will not obstruct the light from any street light and there shall be a clear height of 14 feet above the surface of the street and 10 feet over the sidewalk. If any property owner shall neglect or refuse to trim and shade tree as required the Borough Council of Marysville may cause such trimming to be done at the expense of the owner per Borough Ordinance. Marysville Borough Halloween Parade will be held on Monday, October 21th, 2024 @ 6:30pm with a rain date of October 28th, 2024. The parade route will be posted, please watch for these signs. ANY VEHICLE PARKED ON THE PARADE ROUTE AFTER THE ESTABLISHED “NO PARKING TIME” WILL BE TOWED AT THE OWNERS EXPENSE. Trick or Treat in Marysville Borough will be on Thursday, October 31th, 2024 from 6-8pm.

Residents are reminded to please keep your vehicles and outbuilding locked at all times. Historically we see an increase in thefts, mostly from unlocked sheds, garages, and vehicles during the winter months. As the weather cools, outdoor activity decreases, less people have their windows open and those prowling at night are less likely to be heard or detected. If you see anything suspicious or something looks out of the norm, please contact us. Let’s be a community of neighbors helping neighbors. Together we can keep our streets and our community safe.

Borough Ordinance Reminders

• Curfew is 10:00pm for minors under 14 years old and 11:00pm for minors between 14 and 18 years old.

• Outdoor burning requires a $25 annual burning permit, permitted between the hours of 7:00am and 10:00pm except Sundays when burning is permitted from noon until 7:00pm, shall not occur within 10 feet of any building/structure/property line/public sidewalk, and must be attended at all times.

• Noise Ordinance is in effect between the hours of 10:00pm and 7:00am Monday through Saturday, and any time on Sundays and legal holidays.

• For a full list of all Borough Ordinances including definitions, prohibited acts, exemptions, violations and penalties please visit the Borough Website @marysvilleboro.com.

Other News:

As fall quickly approaches, the likelihood of bear-human conflicts dramatically increases. Bears will be searching for easy, high calorie food sources before entering torpor. During the fall, bears will consume up to 20,000 calories a day. Please do not provide them with an easy food source. If you have bird feeders out, bring them indoors overnight. Another option is to not start feeding the birds until after the bears have entered torpor. If you encounter a bear, make noise by clapping your hands and yelling, do not run. The bears are here, and we must learn to live with them. Please report any bear conflicts to the Pennsylvania Game Commission (814)643-1831, or Marysville Police Department (717)957-2616.

Street sweeping will continue through the fall months. Falling leaves may limit the areas swept or the time the sweeper is run, but the designated street sweeping days will be enforced. Mark your calendar for the 3rd Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday depending where you live. Street Sweeping begins at 8am. For questions, contact the borough office from 7am-3pm or check the Borough Website or Facebook page.

Marysville PD offers a Special Needs Resident Registry to our community. This program is for any Marysville Borough resident. The program is for residents with any special needs to include but not limited to Dementia, Alzheimer’s, Autism, physical limitations, and electricity dependent (example: oxygen machine). Residents with such needs can complete a Special Needs Resident Data Registration Form. The form includes a current photo, name, address, physical attributes, medical summary, emergency contacts, and other information important to aid officers and other first responders during an emergency situation. Emergency situations could include medical emergency, missing person/wandering, natural disaster, power outage or other critical incident. For more information on this program, or to enroll yourself or a loved one, please contact Marysville Borough Police or the Marysville Borough Office.

Over the past few years we have seen an increase in the number of elderly residents falling victim to scams. If you receive a phone call and at any point the caller requests or demands money in the form of a gift card or wire transfer, THIS IS A SCAM. This includes callers claiming to be your grandchildren, the IRS, a Financial Institute, a Sheriff’s Office or other entity claiming they have a warrant for you. These are all examples of scams our residents have fallen victim to. If you receive a call and the caller is asking for any type of money, please call us before you send or provide them with any funds. If you are unsure of a suspicious call, please call and report it or ask us. (717)957-2616

HOW GOES IT WITH YOUR SOUL?

This is a different question than "How are you today?" Just as we might feel sick physically, we can feel out -of-sorts with our spiritual health. We may even feel disconnected from the Lord. It is times like these that it is important to have a spiritual companion to walk with you. Pastor TC is available, by appointment, to walk with you as you work through your spiritual development and relationship with the Lord. For more information contact Past or TC.
