Getting backs on track.
In 2022 we welcomed Dr. Tom Fowler to the outpatient Spine Center team, adding another element to Mary Free Bed’s holistic approach to care. He’s the only doctor of chiropractic in Michigan who’s board certified in rehabilitation.
Bikes for the Rest of Us
Over 50 children and adults with disabilities were introduced to adaptive bicycling.

Adventures were had by all.
This year, our Wheelchair and Adaptive Sports program celebrated 10 years of bringing sports to people with limited mobility. We hit the slopes - and more – with the 2022 adaptive clinics! From sailing to skiing, and even pickleball in between, our WAS program kept people of all abilities finding their rush and exploring something new.
The Wheelchair and Adaptive Sports program hosted its 38th year of camp! We welcomed 50 campers from Michigan, Indiana and Ohio.
(All of them silver and gold.)

In December, our new hospital in Saginaw celebrated its first year of restoring hope and freedom in the Great Lakes Bay Region.

For the third straight year, Mary Free Bed was recognized as one of America’s Best Physical Rehabilitation Centers by Newsweek health care analysts. Mary Free Bed ranked 1st among Michigan rehabilitation facilities and 11th nationally.
U.S. News & World Report released its annual list of Best Hospitals for Rehabilitation, and Mary Free Bed was again rated one of the nation’s top providers. Of the 799 rehabilitation organizations evaluated by U.S. News health care analysts, Mary Free Bed is #17 in the United States.
For the fifth straight year, Mary Free Bed Sub-Acute Rehabilitation has been recognized by U.S. News & World Report for Best Short-Term Rehabilitation.
In 2023, Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation Hospital was proud to receive a three-year CARF accreditation. This prestigious accreditation acknowledges the outstanding services and abilities we bring to our patients – thanks to the ongoing hard work and dedication of our staff.
