ANEMOI (Winds) Daimones (Spirits) of the violent storm winds, sons of the monstrous storm-giant Typhoeus. They were kept locked away inside the floating island of Aiolos to be released only at the command of the gods to wreak their havoc. Their female counterparts were the Aellai, Thuellai or Harpyiai. They were frequently identified with the gentler Anemoi, gods of the four directional winds - Boreas (North), Notos (South) and Zephyros (West) and Euros (East).
