CENTENARY QUAY WOOLSTON WATERSIDE We are delighted to announce the start of construction work on the Tower at Centenary Quay, it forms part of our award-winning proposals to redevelop Woolston Waterside. Crest are committed to Woolston and to Centenary Quay.

We’ve seen hundreds of new homes, including affordable housing, delivered in recent years. We are continuing to work with our partners at the City Council, Local Enterprise Partnership and Homes England.

THE NEXT PHASES Crest Nicholson has signed the latest development agreement with Homes England to deliver the next two phases of Centenary Quay.

The new additions to the £500m development include a 27-storey tower consisting 165 apartments, and the construction of 103 new low-rise homes made up of apartments and houses.

As part of Crest Nicholson’s commitment to ensuring that 25% of homes at Centenary Quay are affordable housing, 46 of the homes in these two new phases will be shared-ownership properties. Leading Housing Providers Radian and Sovereign will be delivering the properties.

New apartments and homes have already been completed to date and the next phases take the development a step closer to the 1,620 homes that will complete Centenary Quay.

As part of construction of these two new phases, the existing public riverside walkway will be extended. New public amenity spaces will also be constructed, including a play space, for children of all ages to enjoy. Ecological works are also an integral part of enhancement to public spaces within Centenary Quay, and some of these enhancements include the planting of biodiverse shrubs and flowering lawns.

Discussions are underway to enlarge the beauty treatment offer and we hope to have a sports bar in the near future. This is a really good example of Crest Nicholson’s flexible approach in supporting local entrepreneurs.

There are two office users going into the Azera block. One is a financial training company and the other is in software development. They should be open and operating shortly.

Crest Nicholson are committed to Centenary Quay and the decision to proceed with the first tower is a major signal of continued investment.

“Crest Nicholson has confirmed that because there has been no interest from any other food provider since 2016 to fill the Woolston site, it has taken the decision to widen the planning uses after receiving serious enquiries from a number of leisure operators.

As part of its application to the council - which was approved - the developer said: In the absence of a food operator, it is considered that a leisure use that will serve the local community is a viable alternative that will be able to successfully operate in such a large unit on a long-term basis.

Such a use would also be complementary to the services and facilities provided within the wider development and local area and would generate the footfall anticipated in order to support the viability of these existing services and facilities.”

NEW SCULPTURE HONOURS MARITIME HISTORY Crest Nicholson has announced a new piece of artwork which has been installed at its Centenary Quay development in Southampton. The piece was officially unveiled to the local community and Centenary Quay residents with councillor Warwick Payne in attendance on Thursday 28th February 2019.

The metal sculpture has been designed by artist Rebecca Gouldson to honour and reflect Woolston’s rich maritime history. Drawing on colours, textures and materials often associated with the area’s shipping industry past, the seven-metre-long copper sculpture has been attached to the side of one of the new buildings at Centenary Quay.

A talented artist with a passion for metalworking, Rebecca’s experience includes recent showcases at the London Art Fair and ‘Collect’ at the Saatchi Gallery, as well as at SOFA: Sculpture Objects and Functional Art, in Chicago and New York.

The artwork will be a fitting addition to the growing community, with Centenary Quay at Woolston Waterside becoming a ‘go to’ destination in its own right with both residents and visitors enjoying the opportunity to eat, drink and live by the water.

Overlooking the water, Centenary Quay at Woolston Waterside is a flourishing community of homes and local businesses that has transformed the former Itchen riverside shipyard in Southampton.

A #GetCycleSavvy Pit Stop was recently held in the Centenary Quay Plaza on Saturday 9th March for local residents to receive a free tune up and fix any issues on their bikes. Sponsored by the council and run by The Hub cycle store, bike enthusiasts could receive advice on maintenance, as well as try out a selection of bikes including cargo bikes, e-bikes, folding bikes, and many more. A very busy day all-round, over 50 bikes were serviced on the day.
