Whether for remodeling or new construction, our professionals provide project design and implementation. We have more than 45 years of experience associated to the imagination of our creatives. With IN9espaço, an office project, the client has the support of a team with a background in architecture, decoration and interior design. Instead of having to imagine the final result, the client is shown a 3D preview of the project, allowing the it to freely experiment with different options and choose a final solution with confidence. Whether for decorations in empty spaces or to integrate with other elements that you want to keep, the first step is always a visit to the client’s home, where our professionals, taking into account the available space, the division’s setting, the lighting zones and, of course, the owner’s personal taste will collect the key elements to design a completely personalized project. Made the changes together with the client later in the execution phase, all assemblies at home will be supervised by the professionals who conceived the project, ensuring that the final result is, to the detail, the implementation of the expectation created.

Matobra has an exhibition area of almost 2000m2, allowing a wide and diverse range of solutions for your home decor. To facilitate the choice of those who visit us, our showroom is organized by thematic areas, namely: Bathrooms, Taps, Ceramic Tiles, Wood, Kitchen and Decoration. For a quicker response to our customers we guarantee stock of a significant part of our products. Our warehouses have 3000 m2 of covered area and 20.000m2 of uncovered area. With a fleet of various types of cars and trucks suitable for transporting heavy goods, with different dimensions, crane and platform lift, we guarantee deliveries for the entire country. More recently, Matobra has opened a new shop, designed for a more economical range. Launched in April 2009, the Mercado Popular (translated by the People’s Market) is based on the concept of outlet, providing a wide range of solutions for bathroom and kitchen accessible to all purses. The product quality is not compromised and the prices are more favorable than usual, because the products are discontinued items, surplus items or materials available only in smaller quantities. With the assurance and design of all brands sold by Matobra, Mercado Popular is truly an opportunity that extends to all the possibility of realization of making home improvements, or simply replacing specific elements, but that make all the difference in the comfort of a house: a tap that needs to be changed, a new set of towel rails for the bathroom, an oven, among many other options.

TheHistory Matobra was founded in 1966 by Luíz Ramos, in the heart of the city of Coimbra, with a small shop on Figueira da Foz Street. Moreresults, thanthe45company years gradually creatingincreases living itsenvironments Overcome the initial phase of affirmation in the market, over the years, the enterprising spirit of its founder generated customer base and product range marketed, stepping safe and well-aimed. The original space, which meanwhile had been increased to the store and an adjoining apartment in the same building, reserved for office, was still small for the company needs. In 75, Matobra opens a warehouse in Adémia, where later, at 85, is created a small exhibition area. The year of 1987 marks a decisive stage in the life of the company. Along with nine more companies, Matobra founds EMACOR, a shopping center on a national scale, which allows its grouped benefit from large economies of scale in negotiating with suppliers. The company becomes more competitive by improving its financial health and investment capacity. January 92 is a turning over date, with the opening of a brand new showroom. Anticipating what the future would confirm, the company realizes early that building materials could not continue to be directed exclusively to companies and construction professionals. More and more, the couples were revealing interest in choosing the materials for their home. The new exhibition is geared to this market segment. The year 2000 was marked in the history of the company for the worst reasons, with the death of its founder, succeeded by José Carlos Martins in the Presidency of the Board. The change is felt, but it is inherent with the tranquility of being someone who Luíz Ramos saw as his natural successor. In 2001, Matobra inaugurates a new sector. Beyond the borders of the bathroom and kitchen, offers a solution for the whole home, with furniture, custom manufacture of fabrics and decorating accessories. More recently, on 20 April 2009, the company starts a new challenge with the opening of an outlet.

Since 2005, Matobra publishes a quarterly publication dedicated to all professionals and stakeholders in the sectors of construction and decoration. With a circulation of 2000 copies, De coração is an evidence of the dynamics, professionalism and variety in our products and services. With this publication, Matobra fulfills a purpose that goes beyond our private or commercial interests and takes the responsibility for suggesting new trends and market laws to a public increasingly trained and informed. It´s a commitment to active participation in education and training so that the best solutions arise inside our homes, but also a pro-active attitude towards building together a sector and an economy more capable and more sustained. In all editions is respected a typology of three interviews. A builder and a businessman linked to industry, by their testimonies, contribute to a real public service, enriching the reader with their knowledge and experiences and highlighting the work of construction, not only in the district of Coimbra, as well as a bit throughout the country. And because Matobra is a company attentive to its surrounding, well integrated in the region and aware of the country economical context, outside of its purely commercial activity, is always included an interview with a personality of national dimension.


Theconnection to EMACOR together we are stronger Matobra is a founding member of the most important shopping center in the Portuguese sector of construction materials - Emacor. Founded on February 10, 1987, with the main aim of bringing together some of the best companies of construction materials at the national level, it has evolved into the ACE format on April 14, 2005. Over time, Emacor has been able to consolidate its position in the market, distinguishing itself as a consortium with high national representativeness, bringing together about 10% of the total turnover of the sector, combined with each member occupying a leadership position at regional level. On the other hand, Emacor distinguishes itself by the high longevity and notoriety that the group reached, which are the results of a clear statement of values and ethics, trust and friendship between the grouped, but also good image and credibility granted in the industry and, particularly, with suppliers. Going beyond the concept of central purchasing, market developments, as well as synergy with new partners, has made the development of an own brand a necessity. The introduction of the tag Emacor is made on January 8, 2007. The demand for new products and solutions is beyond the boundaries of the national market and the company began a process of imports. The group increasingly extends its area of operation and, in 2008, buys a ceramic industry which follows on the brand Cliper Ceramics, SA. The year 2010 marks another turn. Looking for new strategic goals and future business opportunities, the group enlisted the consulting services of the Portuguese Society of Innovation. The strategic plan that has resulted is currently being implemented. Today, Emacor retains its vitality and dynamic business, based on the sum of their forces combined.
