Steady Run Genetics | 2025 Bull Sale

Page 1

Welcome back to the Annual Steady Run Bull Sale! First off we would like to welcome the newest member to the Steady Run crew, Landree Kate McDowell. How lucky are we to get to raise her in such a great industry around the best people. That being said, thi has been a year for the history books. The cattle market is reaching new levels each month, national cow herd inventory has yet to stabilize, and we are confidently looking at some great times ahead! This is a great opportunity to update the old boys with younger new ones, and demand has never been higher for cattle that can do more. It’s a great opportunity to improve your genetics, build back with the maternal building blocks to secure you for the long haul. 5 years ago we handpicked cow families with strong maternal traits and these bulls are proof of our efforts. We don’t push these bulls too hard to chase extra high weights or outrageous scan data. These guys are developed at a steady pace to ensure they will be ready to work for our customers and not have a harsh reality check when they are sent out to pasture. We are excited to share these genetics. with you!

This guy is a STUD, that’s all there is to it. He is a prime example of what we are trying to do with our program and has us pumped up on ol’ Johnny Cash. There is a reason we aren’t letting any of his sisters go, the cow families behind him are strong. Not to mention his sire, SRG Johnny Cash 109 was Reserve Overall Bull at the Iowa State Fair as a calf. He is built like a NFL lineman while still maintaining a sound structure.

970G was one of our first cows we bought and man was she a good investment. She has done nothing but make us money and raise hella good calves. A couple options here and we know they work, let them work for you as well.

We tried Red Eagle out and man did he give some look to his calves. This guy is fancy with a double shot of pounds. His dam was our pick out of the Jefferies dispersal and she has been doing a fantastic job at our place. Lot 2 hits his tracks every time and is smooth made, it doesn’t matter if you raise purebred cattle or a commercial man, you will love this bull.

You haven’t seen a long bodied bull until you see Lot 3, he just goes for days. A commercial man’s dream! He’s in the Top 10% for both weaning and yearling weight. If you need to add some frame size to your cowherd, he will do it. Don’t let his size scare you either, he was only a 77 lb calf.

Arguably one of Addy’s favorites in the offering, this Johnny Cash son has A LOT of promise. He’s got an excellent profile compiled with a whole lot of mass and dimension. Definitely a cow bull that will put some extra look on his progeny. There’s just not a hole to find in this deep, dark red dude.

SRG JOHNNY CASH 109

Sire of Lots 1, 3, 4, 5, 6

A very complete Bieber Hard Drive grandson so it shouldn’t be a shock to anyone that his mother has the most perfect udder you can find on a cow. He’s just the right size to throw on a group of heifers.

This guy is so dark red we joke around here he was trying to be black. The youngest of the Johnny Cash sons, he always sticks out in the pen. More moderate in frame size, but definitely not lacking in shape and quality. His mother is the best black red carrier cow we have on the farm and are thankful to have snagged her from the Rich Red Angus program.

Leading off the yearling bull division is a high percentage Freedom son out of a first calf heifer that did a heck of a job. Lot 7 is a grower! This bull’s only downfall is the fact he’s 93% RAAA and not 100%. That’s easy to forget when you study his huge spring of rib, clean extended front end and impressive straight lines all while maintaining a sound structure. Calving ease & heifer safe, don’t let him slip by!

Thank You

We would like to say a huge shout out to all of the people involved in making Steady Run Genetics successful. We couldn’t do it without our friends, family, and customers. They make our crazy dreams a reality!

Moving on to the Resource sons with this MAN! If we weren’t keeping all of his sisters he would be staying at Steady Run. The softness and boldness of his center body is flat awesome to still be that stout and good looking with a near perfect hip and hind leg design. Let’s not forget the cow he is out of is a gorgeous 10 year old with a perfect udder and still flushing like a female in her prime. We often say how sweet it would be to have 100 females just like her, so that’s what we are working towards.

If you want a chance to snag a C109 daughter here is the best way to try! We won’t be letting any go anytime soon and Lot 8l and his full sister are living proof this mating is a hit. It won’t matter what sex comes out, you will be happy with the results!

Wow, just take a look at what Red Envy did here. This guy lost his mother at only 4 months old and he still turned out this well. A stunning profile and the more you study him the more you like him. Long spined with a deep robust middle that’s completed with a massive hind end. He gets better everyday.

Powerhouse with extra performance is the best way to describe Lot 10. Remaining sound in his structure and flexible at the ground he impresses you every time you step into the pen. His full siblings are already proving themselves and it will be a exciting to watch what this bull can do for you.

Burly, stout and the kind you want to look at in the pasture everyday. Full of muscle and we love the big legs and powerful hip. This Resource son will add some weight to your calves and leave you with awesome females.

Another bull raised by a first calf heifer that did a great job. She’s one of our most exciting young females that is actually a sister to Lot 16. His grand dam came from Rich’s dispersal and has been raising stellar calves every year. A longer bodied individual that packs the muscle and is also calving ease and heifer safe!

Acquired these embryos at the Cloud 9 Dispersal to try out some older genetics. We got one of each sex and his sister is on her way to being one of our next young donors. He is freaky fronted and has a lot of style.

If you are hunting a bull to turn out with your heifers and not have to worry come next spring here is your guy. He popped out small and put the pounds on! Smooth made with plenty of power, easy fleshing, and one you don’t want to miss! Calving ease, heifer safe!

Soggy made, big topped and balanced throughout with plenty of bone to boot. He has an eye-catching appeal that separates him from the rest. Yet again another calving ease heifer safe option.

Checking pastures this past summer is fun when calves like this Red Envy son are running around. Long bodied, square hipped, huge spring of rib, and a few impressive EPD’s to top it off - top 11% WW, top 13% YW, top 14% REA. His mother continues to amaze us every year! sire

Now I’d be lying if I told you this mating was planned, we had a little oops situation here and well it turned out fantastically! He sells with a registration type Z only because we didn’t get DNA on his father before he left the farm. If we would have known he had a calf coming, it would have happened but that’s not here nor there. This animal is a tank! A younger bull, but right up there with the older ones in terms of size and weight. Square hipped, big topped, with an incredible center body. All of that is no surprise coming from the Lakme cow family, one that is going in the record books as one of our most successful lines.

One of our most exciting young matings here! Red Envy crossed on 101 has the potential to be some pretty neat calves. 101 was the first calf out of our 970G donor and she quickly secured a spot on the flush list.

This guy’s got the genetics! WHF/JS/CSS Double Up & LLSF Pays To Believe in there makes for a great crossing here, especially with the Maxi Belle cow family. A powerful beef bull that is good at the ground and has the shape to be a great herd bull.

Flashy baldly alert! Something About Mary really worked on his mother, a moderate purebred that screams power while still getting around with such ease. His body shape and density are something hard to find. Doesn’t everyone love a baldy that looks like this?!
