Welcome back to the Annual Steady Run Bull Sale! First off we would like to welcome the newest member to the Steady Run crew, Landree Kate McDowell. How lucky are we to get to raise her in such a great industry around the best people. That being said, thi has been a year for the history books. The cattle market is reaching new levels each month, national cow herd inventory has yet to stabilize, and we are confidently looking at some great times ahead! This is a great opportunity to update the old boys with younger new ones, and demand has never been higher for cattle that can do more. It’s a great opportunity to improve your genetics, build back with the maternal building blocks to secure you for the long haul. 5 years ago we handpicked cow families with strong maternal traits and these bulls are proof of our efforts. We don’t push these bulls too hard to chase extra high weights or outrageous scan data. These guys are developed at a steady pace to ensure they will be ready to work for our customers and not have a harsh reality check when they are sent out to pasture. We are excited to share these genetics. with you!

This guy is a STUD, that’s all there is to it. He is a prime example of what we are trying to do with our program and has us pumped up on ol’ Johnny Cash. There is a reason we aren’t letting any of his sisters go, the cow families behind him are strong. Not to mention his sire, SRG Johnny Cash 109 was Reserve Overall Bull at the Iowa State Fair as a calf. He is built like a NFL lineman while still maintaining a sound structure.

970G was one of our first cows we bought and man was she a good investment. She has done nothing but make us money and raise hella good calves. A couple options here and we know they work, let them work for you as well.

We tried Red Eagle out and man did he give some look to his calves. This guy is fancy with a double shot of pounds. His dam was our pick out of the Jefferies dispersal and she has been doing a fantastic job at our place. Lot 2 hits his tracks every time and is smooth made, it doesn’t matter if you raise purebred cattle or a commercial man, you will love this bull.

You haven’t seen a long bodied bull until you see Lot 3, he just goes for days. A commercial man’s dream! He’s in the Top 10% for both weaning and yearling weight. If you need to add some frame size to your cowherd, he will do it. Don’t let his size scare you either, he was only a 77 lb calf.

Arguably one of Addy’s favorites in the offering, this Johnny Cash son has A LOT of promise. He’s got an excellent profile compiled with a whole lot of mass and dimension. Definitely a cow bull that will put some extra look on his progeny. There’s just not a hole to find in this deep, dark red dude.

Sire of Lots 1, 3, 4, 5, 6

A very complete Bieber Hard Drive grandson so it shouldn’t be a shock to anyone that his mother has the most perfect udder you can find on a cow. He’s just the right size to throw on a group of heifers.
This guy is so dark red we joke around here he was trying to be black. The youngest of the Johnny Cash sons, he always sticks out in the pen. More moderate in frame size, but definitely not lacking in shape and quality. His mother is the best black red carrier cow we have on the farm and are thankful to have snagged her from the Rich Red Angus program.

Leading off the yearling bull division is a high percentage Freedom son out of a first calf heifer that did a heck of a job. Lot 7 is a grower! This bull’s only downfall is the fact he’s 93% RAAA and not 100%. That’s easy to forget when you study his huge spring of rib, clean extended front end and impressive straight lines all while maintaining a sound structure. Calving ease & heifer safe, don’t let him slip by!
