The boarding schools magazine you can read… or watch!
While the UK may not be known for our wonderful cuisine or predictable weather, there is an area in which the country is top of the class: education.
A British education will lay all the groundwork necessary to excel and to gain entry into a student’s university of choice.
Whether you are a student seeking a highly academic school as a route into Oxbridge or an Ivy League university.
Or alternatively, a school with a football academy to fulfil your Premier League ambitions, the range of expertise and opportunities on offer are truly breathtaking.
So many British boarding schools now pride themselves on their emphasis on pastoral care and wellbeing, a crucial
focus to meet the challenges that young people are facing in a post-pandemic world.
For international students, UK boarding schools offer an outstanding experience of the best that British education can offer.
These include an emphasis on the importance of critical thinking; skilled subject practitioners who are generous with their time outside of the classroom; a wide and rich co-curricular programme
This is supported by guiding students through the university application process to some of the most highly competitive universities in the world.
It is no wonder interest in UK boarding schools continues to expand.
“Terrific panel” provides “relevant facts” on higher education for Nigerian families
Recently, David Bell from HNW Advisor hosted a chat show “with a terrific panel” for Nigerian families who are considering higher education options for their children.
The informal and informative webinar unpacked crucial and complex issues such as UK education, financial planning, immigration and relocation.
Choosing the university that’s the “right fit”
David Hawkins, founder of The University Guys likes to work with a family “over maybe two or three years” in order to help their son or daughter with the university admissions process. He says it’s all about getting the “right fit.”
David explains that this way he can “build a good overall plan of action” so “the outcomes are best for every stakeholder.”
“Plan early” urges leading tax advisor who assists families relocating to UK
Rakesh Dabasia is a partner with Buzzacott, a top 25 accountancy firm in London.
The focus of his work “is on preserving and growing a client’s wealth from a tax perspective, for the current generation and for future generations.”
Rakesh advises high-net-worth individuals who are either UK resident or non-UK resident with UK assets, onshore and offshore trustees and their structures, as well as family and private offices.
“Plan early and implement that plan as soon as possible” is the top tip Rakesh gives to those moving to the UK, or intending to send their children to study.
Efficient investment matters because “education is superimportant to families”
Dean Douglas is a Director of IQ-EQ, a leading investor services group which supports fund managers, global companies, family offices and private clients operating worldwide.
He is based in Jersey, one of the Channel Islands, and has spent many years assisting Nigerian clients and “provides full services to high-net-worth families.”
He adds that it is “very important to speak to the right people early in the phase,” because “there’s a lot of efficient planning that you can do.”
UK boarding schools the “perfect preparation” for worldclass universities
Preparation for university is not a “last minute activity,” says Mark, “the longer the ramp the better”, he explains.
Universities these days are assessing students beyond academic results “they are looking at the key skills that they can bring too.”
The all-round education at boarding school provides opportunities to discover and deepen these attributes which “add flavour to university applications and interviews.”
In a competitive international market for university places, the foundation of a British boarding school education helps students to really stand out from the crowd.

For families relocating to the UK, one of the biggest challenges they face is the packing and transport of their belongings and setting up their new home.
A specialist service developed by Charlotte Hepworth, founder of Bespoke Home Moves, manages the move from start to finish.
She is even asked to provide concierge and lifestyle services long after the move is complete.
“We offer a turnkey solution for our clients when they are looking to move or relocate,” she says. “So that they can continue to concentrate on the things that matter to them most in their personal and professional life.”
“Our service is tailored to each client’s needs so we can support them with as little or as much of the process as they wish,” Charlotte explains.
“This means that we can project manage the entire process. We can carry out decluttering and staging, engage a removal firm, install AV and security through to making the beds and putting food in the fridge.”
So the answer to a smooth move is to call in the expertsch@bespokehomemoves.co.uk

All good boarding schools in the UK require their international students to have a guardian. A guardian represents a student’s parents by caring for the child independently of the school or college, doing everything that a parent would do if they were in the UK. Help with travel to and from the school, checking that the child is happy and settled, talking to teachers and house staff, going to the school parents’ meetings, sports matches or plays, offering a happy and safe home if the child has to leave school for any reason: the guardian is there to help that individual child just like a caring parent.
I have friends and relatives in the UK who could be the guardian – why do I need your service?
Friends or relatives living in the UK may not always be immediately available in emergency situations or they may not be able to fulfil the responsibility continually.
Regent Guardians understands how independent schools operate. We have good working relationships with school staff so we can ensure that your child is happy, progressing academically, and getting the best possible educational experience.
We are well placed to resolve any issues that may arise between your child and the school. We also understand and can help with any visa requirements. By spending time getting to know your child, meeting up with them regularly and maintaining contact with them, we respond quickly and effectively to their needs as well as to your requests and those of the school.
