Placed just outside the city of Tulcea (the Gate to the Danube Delta), it is remote enough to be protected and quiet, while still benefiting from the association with the town. In this regard, the city is well connected with the rest of the country and with the international territories via European roads, the railway system, the fluvial port accepting also maritime ships, and the International airport. Beside the proximity to the Danube Delta which as undoubtful source of information for research purposes, another significant natural point of interest in the Zaghen Lake, an anthropic intervention to regulate the water flow which became in time a natural reserve. Because it is not accessible by people it is an unused area with an immense scientific potential. With a surface of over 85.000 sqm of flat surfaces divided in 5 platforms surrounded by exposed stone walls, the site is situated within a hill in the south eastern part of the town.
