Macro Photography This unique photographic genre describes a marvelous parallel world, which is hidden, tiny, and extremely beautiful. But this is also reality that exploring this world is not easy to see up close with bare eyes unless we could shrink ourself to their size, or magnify their world to match our vision. As science has not evolved to such levels to enable us to shrink or expand ourselves, we have developed technology instead to enlarge the minutest objects to a size larger than life with the help of microscopic lenses and extension tubes and be able to experience and study their beautiful world. The experience is truly rewarding and gratifying. But one has to be very patient, persistent and precise, and technically aware to be able to capture these minute details. Once you have entered the tiny world of these bugs, flowers, plants or even bigger species you feel like being a part of a fantasy with the unexplored details, forms, colors and in giant sizes. On behalf of all the readers, I want to thank these explorers for having given us this opportunity full of visual excitement otherwise unreachable. Presented here-within is a compendium of some of the most powerful images that we are proudly able to bring under one cover. Hope you would love them as much as we did. Mario Buncuga September 2020

ALFREDO PRIM Vigevano, Italy facebook.com/Alfredo.Prim/

I am a veterinary surgeon, living in Vigevano (Pv). I belong to the Parco del Ticino, in the Lombard plain very close to Milan and Pavia, a protected area rich in biodiversity and this has encouraged my passion for nature in all its aspects.

I have been fond of photography since the year 1985, when I took my first steps with an Olympus OM10. After the advent of digital world I continued to capture images in my beautiful natural area and some years ago I fell in love with macro photography. Now with a Nikon D7200 and Sigma 150mm macro lens f.2,8 I move around in an amateur pursuit to chance upon a good opportunity with insects and flowers. 10

FRANCESCO GALANTINO Bari, Italy facebook.com/profile.php?id=100009023868070 500px.com/frankgala flickr.com/photos/182308905@N03

Francesco was born in Bari on 14/7/1986 and is currently pursuing a master's degree in Administration, Finance and Control. He has always been passionate about electronics and everything that has to do with technology. It was not a love at first sight instant with the camera, it rather came as a result of long path-finding and meeting a variety of people in life. The latter through their captivating stories, have triggered in him the curiosity that drives him to read up and improve.

He got his first camera at his first degree without re a l i z i n g i ts u s e a n d p o te n t i a l . H e sta r te d photographing different facets of life, convinced that, memory is weak compared to the eternity of a photo. He has always felt affection for animals in general and being able to represent them through his young vision of photography made him more passionate towards this form of expression. His first photographic publication about the animal kingdom came under the brand - WePhoto Animals. The other genres of his interest have been landscapes, reportage photos and lately macro photography. The acceptability of my present collection will dictate how gainful have I really been with the genre of macro photography. 22

instagram.com/mariateresamarrese/

Mariateresa was born in Capua (CE) in 1962. After graduating, she graduated in Law from the Federico II University of Naples. Currently, she is a passionate teacher of legal and economic disciplines at the ISISS, UGO FOSCOLO in Teano Sparanise. She lives in Calvi Risorta, a small town in the Caserta area, with her husband and three children. Since 2014 she has deeply been into pursuing her passion : photography. She attended a familiarization course in photography and hasn't stopped shooting since.

Her photographic ideology revolves around simplicity, and working instinctively - perhaps unconsciously. She likes to capture those moments when people and things reveal themselves inadvertently. She has participated in various exhibitions and competitions with gratifying results and, for two consecutive years, she has been among the winners of the National photographic competition ‘PHOTOGRAPHING THE HISTORY… A WEEK IN SESSA AURUNCA’; some of her photos have even been published in PHOTOVOGUE and, recently, in Photo Professional; in 2017, she published ‘SOLO PER AMORE’ - a collection of her photos accompanied by the verses of Lucia Pellino. This collection was also presented as part of the MMMF 2017 MIA MARTINI MANTOVA FESTIVAL 2017 and, on June 30, 2019, at the REAL SITE OF CARDITELLO. 34

MARIO JR NICORELLI Salgareda, Italy facebook.com/MNicorelli instagram.com/mario_jr_nicorelli/ flickr.com/photos/mario_nicorelli

My name is Mario Jr. Nicorelli and I am a curious and eclectic self-taught photographer. Born in 1977 in Motta di Livenza, I currently reside in the Municipality of Salgareda with my daughter Eva and my partner Dania.

The title of my work is : ‘drops and flowers’. I create macro photos using drops of water as a lens with flowers in the background. This photographic technique with drops and flowers requires a lot of time, precision, visualization and dedication.

For my primary profession I am a production programmer in the furniture sector and for the hobby I am engaged in music and macro photography. My passion for photography happened in 1999 and for several years I portrayed all kinds of subjects (a bit like what everyone else does in the beginning) without having an inclination to a specific photographic genre. In 2016 everything changed radically and my interest in the discipline got focused exclusively on macro photography, choosing water droplets as the subject of my photos. Here are some of a few hundred of the photographs I have taken of these subjects that are as small as they are fascinating by nature. 46

MASSIMO GUGLIUCCIELLO Salerno, Italy facebook.com/gmassimo

Photographer for passion, I live in the Sele Valley south of Salerno.

I have been documenting the biodiversity of the surroundings in this valley since 2006. This has allowed me to closely observe the behavior of countless animal species, especially insects. The study of their behavior to obtain close-up photos without bothering them has favored me an interaction with the subjects being captured. Lately my attention has shifted to capturing the magic of fireflies. 58

MONICA VOTTA La Spezia, Italy facebook.com/profile.php?id=100013984800047 instagram.com/acidula69 500px.com/movoit

I have been pursuing photography for about three years and I always feel that photography brings you a privilege, and an opportunity to live and share a passion. Photography can teach you to look around without superficiality, pause and wait patiently, and capture the piece of people’s life or things for its better.

In a completely personal creative vision my close-ups of insects, plants, flowers, droplets etc convey sensations and describe emotions. In a kind of dreamlike journey I observe a continuous improvement coming around in my art, that in a metaphoric way represents my own inner growth. Photography creates magic: lights and shadows, moving subjects that appear and disappear, the patient wait for the right moment to take the shot. Nature is a magical setting and place in which to get involved, almost like Alice in Wonderland, where the constant search for the beauty of the world around us becomes the main source of inspiration, gift and lymph for the soul. 70

RUTH CHUDASKA CLEMEN Finsterwalde, Germany

facebook.com/ruth.chudaskaclemenz 500px.com/shadows

I got fascinated by photography very early in life. My father gave me my first camera at the age of eight. During my high school I met a professional photographer who showed me the essentials and lent me his Nikon -that is when I held the first professional camera in my hands. He also published my photos when I was 18. Soon it became a dream for me to own a Nikon for myself.

Since then it has been more than 30 years. I did not follow his way of being a professional photographer because I wanted to be free in my decisions about what to shoot and what not. For me pressure brings your creativity to a dead-end. But the fascination for photography never completely left me. After having a long experience with analog Nikons I switched to the digital camera a few years ago, and with all its features I now feel like getting my dreams fulfilled. I own professional gear and try constantly to improve my skills and to learn new and interesting things about photography and post processing every day . Professionally I work as a psychiatrist, an expert in testimonies for legal authorities in Germany. 82
